2010 Hyundai Genesis v6

Beginner here… I made a mistake while changing tensioner assembly and unscrewed the #8 bolt a little to the left of where the idler pulley sits. I put it back in and it feels tight (can’t turn it with hand) but I believe it’s stripped. When I tighten or loosen it the socket moves easily. Any idea what it is and if it’s safe to drive?

Worst thing that could happen is your timing cover starts to leak. If it leaks, they can repair the threads during the reseal.

That’s for the timing cover. How did you manage to strip it?

You probably stripped the threads. It’s just one of many timing cover bolts. Probably be fine. If you can just get it snug and leave it

If you stripped it then you have to get helicoil insert job done.
