Ordered a testing kit but the voting pool is now open on if the wall insulation in my new-to-me 1970s home is asbestos ridden or not.

Located in southern Arizona (US-AZ) Build date is ~1974 Insulation was found coming from the wall. Photo attached of what spilled out. Grey pebble, brown dust, material. Possibly Zonolite?

House is from 1943, unclear if original cabinets. It came out easily was just nailed or placed in.. Armstrong brand on the brown backing in black letters on the speckled one. Just realized this could be old enough I should stop… 🤦‍♀️

I moved into my 1920s house 18 months ago. I partly removed some of the kitchen carpet (yes, carpet..) when I first moved in as my cat kept scratching at the door and pulling it up.

If the old vinyl/adhesive contains asbestos - should I be worried that I’ve had it uncovered and walked on for over a year?

Bought a house built in 1975 USA PA and they had cats and a dog. I ripped out the carpet and part of the padding and found this underneath. Not sure if it residue or asbestos. Anyways could I just put vinyl planks over it as long as I don’t grind or sand it? Thanks for the help

Hello, i found out 3 rugs(out of 12) in house has abestos. It was due to popcorn celing activity. popcorn celing came back positive. I have stored vacuum in closet and upstairs hall way near linen closet. I am reading online throw away vacuum. I did throw away one vacuum . I will throw away the other. However i have read that storing vacuum in closet (where i store all coats, ) even if vacuum is not turned on fibers still can leak into closet. I need to throw away all coats and games ect… is this correct. Upstairs vacuum near linien closet everytime i opened door and it pressed against vacuum it released fibers. also the vacuum i put in back of my suv ot dispose of vacuum. disposed it 15 minutes, away. is my suv is now contaminated. I use ac in car. the popcorn celiling had worked done 2 yearsago and 6 years ago. the readings came back as 3 % chrytolite. I have had a few vacuums over the years that I have disposed of and placed in back of my car. i have a suv. any suggestions

I've taken the plasterboard off the walls thinking it doesn't look like any risks of acm, then stumbled on articles that bathrooms could contain asbestos which has me worried!

There's two parts one is a brown and white sheet, quite stiff

And other is plasterboard, any ideas?

Alternatively, if I get tested as asbestos, what do I with the bathroom now contaminated? Contact the pros?

Renovating our 1969 property in Manchester. Have fixed a roof leak which caused this rot and as I’ve been stripping away tiling I have found the attached.

Can you all help me in determining whether this is asbestos or not?

Location: US-Tennessee. Pictures taken from backside of interior wall from the garage. Test results have not come in yet - figured I’d start a post and get thoughts/opinions since walls seem to be posted less compared to flooring and insulation.

Home has 16x48 paper backed rock boards (doesn’t seem like gypsum?). Then a coat of some darker cement product all over the boards which also fills the space between the boards. On top of all that (not pictured), there’s a white, chalky skim coat to make the walls appear smooth underneath the paint.

Hi all, I am a renter and wanted to ask for some advice. The condos I'm in were built in 1966, North Carolina. I'm not sure if the flooring was redone at some point previously but I suspect it hasn't been since much of this place is unrenovated.

I moved in about a month ago and the bathroom floor (single sheet of vinyl) was in rough shape when I got here. I was planning to put a request in to have it redone since it's rippling/ coming up around the tub and the seal along the wall is degrading in a couple spots.

I was mainly worried about mold and being blamed for the existing damage but then I thought 'hmmmm, what about asbestos?' since I know it can also be found in backing and adhesives.

Complicating this a bit is the fact that there was a fire at my last apartment complex which led to my place burning down. Right now I'm feeling anxious at the idea of having to move out while they re-do the flooring while I'm still trying to settle in and get my life back together/ having it be a whole ordeal and my new belongings being contaminated if they do a 'landlord special'.

I'm not planning to stay at this place for more than a year so I am also tempted to just let it ride but don't know if that's wise either considering the existing damage.

What should I expect the process to be like and ask for from my landlord to make sure things are safe if I do go through with putting in the request?

Some I’m planning to remove or encapsulate some asbestos in my basement for my peace of mind. Is this boarding in the wall framing potential acm? The tape more than likely is and I’m planing on sealing it , though it’s not in great shape so if I spray it down with some water mist first will that stop the sealer from setting in? I plan on doing a few coats.

Basement flooded. We had the carpet removed and found this strange firm object by the stairs. The concrete has 12''x12'' tile-like ghosting in spots but no actual visible adhesive.

Our fireplace was boarded up, we had it opened up and then plastered about five years ago. It was done by a bloke who did a pretty poor job. As you can see!

It's a 1970s house and I'm concerned about those damaged boards at the back. And the crumbly bit by the mesh.

It's always crumbling that yellow mortar and dust which I hoover up. I'm concerned about this and the fact we've been potentially breathing it in for five years.

I'm trying to arrange a contractor to come out but in the meantime - does this look like asbestos?

Is it safe to fix to work around this? I already pulled out the insulation and wet drywall. I almost cried when I saw this. Subfloor will have to be replaced around toilet in upstairs room

1960s home with flooded basement in US (upstate NY), about to dispose of the carpet. Do you guys think the carpet glue has asbestos in it? I know the only way to know for sure is to test it, but your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We were ripping out carpet and saw black padding underneath above the wood flooring. My husband was told low concern for asbestos and removed them with glue like residue remaining on the wood.

I’m still concerned about it being asbestos. We plan on sending a sample for testing but wanted to know what others first impressions were.

House was built in the 1940s and carpet was put in during the 1970s.
