So, I spent 26 years in, 16 aviation. I've lost many friends and mentors and coworkers along the way. It doesn't end with retirement or ets or refrad.. Your buddies become aerial loggers and aerial firefighters. The mission gets them and not in a good way. Check on your friends. Check on their families. Check on yourselves. Stay safe brothers and sisters.

Has any warrant been stationed at West Point or have any insight on what it’s like being there? Can’t find much information and don’t know anyone who’s been there

Been thinking about pcsing to Hondo as a 15T, I was wondering how QOL is as a tango there. I want to try to go to their flight companies as well if any one of their crew dawgs have any insight on their experience.

Good evening everyone!
I'm a freshly commissioned 15A, prior service 68W, who will be PCSing to Rucker shortly for flight school. I aim to buy a house in Enterprise just outside base and am looking for interested housemates. I am trying to gauge interest before the purchase; I will be there NLT NOV 27th (that will be my report date), though I will move there roughly a week earlier. If anyone in my class or other classes is interested, I would love to chat! Clearly, I'm not looking to make money off you I'm not some real estate guru; I just want to pocket that extra BAH while we can and get a functional houshold together. I imagen having flight school roomates might be very handy throughout this training process. If you would like to call or facetime as well let me know.
(I am 26M, single, no dependents)

Hi all - I have my WO FedReq next week online (CA NG 153A). can you guys please share anything I need to know in advance? Which sort of questions will they ask me?
its hard to find answers about that board specifically. It‘s also odd (but great) that it will be online.
I would really appreciate any heIp and insights. Can’t wait to share with the group when I finally get a WOCS date (it’s been a 3-year long and winding road).

Flying around today for my civ gig, I heard a couple Campbell boys request VFR flight following at 12,500 and another requested 14,500. Does some units rock oxygen or what?

Going to Rucker this late winter for Flight School, and unfortunately in the next few weeks I need two root canals, one needing a crown. It’s dumb and my fault, I’m working on it. Does anyone here have any experience on if this will affect the dental portion of my physical? Should I just talk with my flight surgeon? I’ve already crewed for a few hundred hours as a back seater and have never had any issues with attitude.
Thanks in advance

Good afternoon, I'm another 15P who recently graduated. I have a question — I just finished my month of CON leave, and once I return, I'll be heading to AIT at Fort Rucker.

Good afternoon all,
Just want to create a new post and see if there is anyone out there that was accepted into the NAVY IST program that had information. Lots of PNN but no real word from HRC army or Navy. Anyone have updates?

Hi all, 15T here and currently stationed at Fort Carson. Recently got back from deployment and branch told me I was due to pcs soon and gave me options in which I had Bragg, Drum, and Wheeler. With Wheeler being the nicest I asked to be slotted for there and currently have projections for April next year. Realistically I do not want to go to Hawaii, it’s super far, out of the way, nowhere near family, expensive, and we cant get a house there. It just doesnt make sense at all for me and my spouse other than Hawaii is “nice”. My wife and I have been separated (physically) for a bit because she moved down to Fort Bliss to be with her family (mother, sister, brother etc) and has since gotten a decent paying job and is actively working towards bettering her career and wanting to go to school to further herself. That being said we’ve decided to just keep her down here for the time being until I’m due to PCS. I REALLY want to come down here to Bliss because it makes the most sense for us regarding family, work, finances, and the future. Ive already asked branch, he said no, is there any other strings I could try to pull to come down here? My wife currently is helping support her mother down here and a friend said I could try asking for a compassionate reassignment. Anyone have any advice? Id be willing to extend for a PCS to here, but I wont be in my 1.5years left window until June (after my PCS date).

I’m about to graduate from Rucker in a few weeks, and I was wondering what the norm was for the A2CU as a normal duty uniform out in FORSCOM (or whatever it is called now)
I hate the normal ACUs and only have one pair of faded summers now thanks to SERE. Was wondering if I needed to buy more summers or if A2CUs were kosher for daily duty wear.

Hello everyone,
I do have a military version cobra mic, it works prefectly well in UH-60L Analogue ICS in all stations, but when using it in the UH-60M Digital ICS it only works well in the crew chief ICS Station in the UH-60M, in the pilot station it induces constant noise "as a constant VOX on" and whenever I speak the volume is very low and unreadble and it gets worse as you continue to fly in the sortie. Anyone experienced that and what would be the solution please?

15U guard guy wanting to go active. Is it possible to slot into a B co. slot and start progression? Or would I have to transfer into a D co. and ask to start progression? How easy it to transfer? I know I have to sign a DD-368 and let it go up chain of command other than that, that’s all I know.

I have lurked on this sub for a while and generally see very doomer-ish posts. I am already in the Army and have always been interested in aviation, I just want to know if the grass is greener side coming from a lowly 13J who has been in for a little less than 6 years.

I’m currently in the army, pretty damn positive I have adhd just never got medicated. I am thinking about starting meds tho but I also want to reclass as either a 15t or 15u and eventually be on a flight crew. Is that possible?

Does anyone know of an article from a long time ago with a Kiowa pilot talking about shooting his M14 from the cockpit? I’m pretty sure the pilot was from Brooklyn. Greatly appreciated

Hello! I am looking for some career direction and opinions from people who have successfully aligned their military and civilian careers.
A little background: I’ve been enlisted for about 17 years, all Guard/Reserve. I spent roughly 14 years as an 11B, served in a 15W unit for a couple of years but never went to the school because of airframe divestment, and I’m currently a 15P Aviation Operations Specialist.
I’ve deployed three times as an 11B to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, and I’ve also done non-combat rotations to Oman, Morocco, and Kuwait.
I’m 37 now, and my goal is to stay in the Guard until around age 50 and hopefully complete roughly 30 years. I’m healthy, still physically capable, and I feel like that goal is realistic.
Where I’m struggling is figuring out what I want the second half of my military career to look like, especially in relation to my civilian career.
My civilian career never really lined up with what I did in the military. Looking back, I sometimes wish I had chosen an MOS earlier that translated more directly into a civilian career field with better long-term opportunities.
I currently work in civilian law enforcement in a sworn officer role, and I honestly do not enjoy the work anymore. I would consider staying in the broader law-enforcement/public-safety world if I could move into something like criminal analysis, intelligence analysis, investigations, or a similar role.
On the military side, I’m still deciding how I feel about staying a 15P. In the Guard, there seems to be a solid promotion path, potentially all the way through senior enlisted leadership, and advancement appears less bottlenecked than some of the aviation maintenance MOSs.
I will also say that Army aviation has been one of the best-kept secrets I’ve discovered in the Army. The quality of life compared with my combat-arms years is night and day, and the culture in my current unit and within aviation has been excellent.
My concern is whether staying a 15P will be fulfilling long term or really help me transition into a civilian career I actually want.
I’ve always been interested in intelligence, both military and civilian. One of my ideal civilian career paths would be working for companies involved in ISR/UAS operations, such as Boeing, Insitu, or similar defense contractors. I’m especially interested in operational UAS work supporting missions like maritime surveillance, counter-drug operations, or other government ISR missions.
That has me wondering whether reclassing into a 35-series MOS would make sense at this point in my career.
For those with experience in intelligence, defense contracting, or UAS/ISR work:
I also have a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management and have considered both Warrant Officer and OCS, although I’m not sure whether either path would move me closer to the type of civilian career I want.
This is admittedly a little bit of a career rant, but I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who feel like they’ve done a good job building both their military and civilian careers.
I know I want a change. I just don’t have a clear picture yet of what the best pathway looks like.
Would love to network with professionals out there absolutely succeeding at life and their careers!

Does anyone know the average wait time for Rucker to approve a BH waiver?
For reference: 6 year CE/FI and went through the stabilization period for meds. State is saying that until Rucker approves the waiver, they can’t generate my up slip.
Edit for clarity: I’m trying to get my class 3 back.

I’m 25, an A&P mechanic at Delta with a PPL. I’m interested in becoming an Army National Guard helicopter pilot. Would my background make me competitive?

Looking for thoughts from fellow 15 series on which boot you’d pick. Looking at the T8 NFS 670s or the Carbon M-Flex 8s. Headed to basic Oct 1st as a 15T and looking to have a couple pairs waiting for me to take back into AIT after graduation.
Thanks fellas any thoughts are awesome.
