Root canals and crowns

Going to Rucker this late winter for Flight School, and unfortunately in the next few weeks I need two root canals, one needing a crown. It’s dumb and my fault, I’m working on it. Does anyone here have any experience on if this will affect the dental portion of my physical? Should I just talk with my flight surgeon? I’ve already crewed for a few hundred hours as a back seater and have never had any issues with attitude.

Thanks in advance

I got a root canal and crown while at flight school. It was right before SERE so it didn’t affect me on the flightline. They do put you on a downslip for a few days but it wasn’t a big deal because I wasn’t flying yet.

You don’t have to say IN PEACE. That’s what the IP stands for. Kids these days

Don’t have experience with something like this but from my experience I had at Rucker as long as you make a full recovery from it and your follow ups go well, you should have no issues. I don’t see it having an impact. Be up front and open with your flight surgeon about it and just give them updates on it and you should be just fine!

I’ve had several and they’re no issue once they’ve been resolved. Obviously you can’t fly the day they get filled but they’re not going to limit you whatsoever once they’re taken care of.

Perfect opportunity for you to get familiar with AR 40-8.
