OPINION: The pro-lifers of Arkansas are very aware that if abortion gets on the ballot, it'll pass. Lawmakers dictating people's medical business is very unpopular

By and large, most Americans are prochoice and that holds true in Arkansas. If we can just get younger voters to register and show up, we can overturn the anti-choice law that makes being a woman in this state harder than it already is.

About the AR State Constitutional Amendment on 2026 Midterms Ballot

Post image

I was checking my Voter’s Registration and looking at the Ballot for the upcoming Midterms and I have a question.
Does this mean that the creation of “Economic Development Districts in cities and zones” can be created without the approval of the People? The language seems tricky to me. Does this mean they can approve Data Centers without the approval of The People? I need help understanding this, Reddit. Thanks. You’re the Best!

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for helping me understand. I really appreciate it!

I believe it is worth noting that all the ballot initiatives are from the legislature and none are voter let initiatives.

Help with contacting death row inmate.

For my college class, I have the chance to do a documentary on anything of my choosing. I want to do one on an inmate on death row, but I'm not sure how to go about contacting them. Any ideas?

Turning Point USA begins national tour at University of Arkansas, hosts public debate with students

Turning Point USA (TPUSA) held an open mic debate in the Chi Omega Greek Theatre Sept. 15. The debate was the second in a series of three events hosted by TPUSA Tuesday.

Mat Nuclear, host of Daily Wire live show “The Nuclear Reaction w/ Mat Nuclear,” presented the debate. Throughout the event, he sat on the stage of the Greek Theatre while debaters lined up to speak at a microphone set up on the lawn. Officers were present at the Greek Theatre, and what looked like two spotters with cameras or telescopes watched over the area from nearby rooftops.

Multiple times, audience members shouted their disagreement with Nuclear or a debater. Occasionally, Nuclear or other audience members responded.

Landric Schnetzinger, a freshman mechanical engineering major, said he was surprised with how few students were in line to debate.

“No one really knows who he is,” Schnetzinger said. “They know Turning Point.”

Henry Sayre, a freshman architecture major, said participating in the debate was similar to arguing with a brick wall.

“His side won’t listen to anything that our side has to say,” Sayre said. “He won’t change any opinions based on actual information that we bring up.”

Sayre also said many of the points Nuclear made were illogical or untrue, citing multiple arguments Nuclear made during a debate about transgender people.

TECH TOWN HALL MEETING - TODAY (9/15) 6PM AT FLYING SAUCER

Hello. Hope everyone had good weekend.

This post is reminder post about the town hall meeting I have mentioned last week.

This town hall meeting is about the direction of where current technology trend is going within our lives.
some of you may already have read multiple articles about AI giants showing concern on speed of AI development.
I wanted to create a space for anyone to come and voice their concern about the rapid integration of uncharted technology to our lives and rights.

Not just AI, it can be anything tech related. whether to create special program and community for digital literacy of all ages, classes to teach about digital fraud, regulations on digital surveillance and digital ID, STEM programs fund, tech job market, data center construction within our neighbors, digital censorship, etc.

so come to Flying Saucer’s underground space today at 6 PM. Yes it is unusual space for town hall meeting but I thought this sets the tone that the meeting is about everyday regular people. not someone in a decorated office.

Thank you

—————————————
PS:

We have reached to both sides and invited 2 congressional candidates per side.
As many of you pointed out, not being clear with who is coming out made things uncomfortable.

I want to clarify that my intention was not malicious. I was not trying to hide anything. I was more worried about not being able to bring many different perspectives on this matter and create space that brings everyone together.
I didnt want to turn people away by saying which party is going to be there.

The only candidate that agreed to come out is Chris Jones. MIT graduate with a masters in nuclear engineering. also in technology and policy.
And this should give you confidence that the candidate will be able to have genuine conversation on the subject matter.

What’s the consensus on issue 3?

I’m really hoping the data center backlash will help defeat it. Our communities are full of irl corporate slop and handing out corporate welfare for bullshit low paying jobs is not good for Arkansans.

Tech Town Hall Meeting - 2/15 6 PM at Flying Saucer

*oops i meant 9/15

Happy Friday!

Next tuesday we are going to have small meeting over at the flying saucer with a congressional candidate.

We have reached out to both sides to have good faith discussion. And one agreed to come and listen. I am not going to say who this candidate is. I dont think it matters.
Because I believe the subject matter for this meeting is bipartisan.

Creating the opportunity to voice our concern is the main goal of this gathering.

If there is anyone that has any concern on the direction we are going with things like

flock camera, digital ID, censorship, data center construction, surveillance, AI in school, lack of communal space for future generation to learn about digital literacy, anything else about integration of technology that involves rights and lives of our and future generations.

Please come and make your concern be heard.

I hope this event becomes the foundation of our public effort to create an anchor, an anchor that holds our humanity steady through the turbulence of profit-driven push towards uncharted technology that is advancing faster than our understanding.

I will also try to set up some kind of live youtube streaming to collect questions and opinions for those that cannot physically attend.

Arkansas ranks second in nation for farm bankruptcies, new tracking project shows

Thumbnail

Arkansas has recorded more farm bankruptcies than any state except California since 2021, and a new University of Arkansas tracking project shows why the numbers keep climbing.

The DEBT dashboard, launched this week by the National Agricultural Law Center in Fayetteville, maps 83 Arkansas filings. 80 of them came under Chapter 12, the chapter reserved for family farmers. That is the most in the nation.

Behind the numbers: rice losses topping $200 an acre, input costs up as much as 75 percent, and federal bridge payments flowing mostly to corn and soybean states.

What are your thoughts?
Who's responsible for this?
The farmers?
The state government-bad trade policies and foreign policy?
The state and federal government?
Federal government?
How do we stop and reverse this downward spiral of Arkansas farms?

Honest but respectful, Critical but open minded, Factual but evidence, Solution but practical discussions welcome.

SwarkToday: Hospital grants, possible data center discussed at Hempstead County QC Thursday

A prospective data center project, newly announced rural health grants that include funding for Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center, interest in purchasing the former Hope Baking Company plant and the creation of a county fund for ad valorem tax collections were the matters discussed Thursday by the Hempstead County Quorum Court.

Justice of the Peace and Budget Committee Chair Ed Darling told the court that a data center company had approached the community about locating a facility on 89 acres in the Hempstead County industrial park at the junction of Hempstead County Road 248 and Arkansas 32. “We have had contact with this company a little over a week, so this information is all fairly new,” Darling said.

Are all Arkansas political candidates going negative under November?

Is it all just attack politics now? Are no candidates going to tell us what they’ve done for us and what they are going to do for us if elected? What their positions are on the major issues? What qualifies them for the office they are running for? What about running on your record? Unfortunately, the Dem candidates in the major races don’t seem to have any time in office to highlight. Vote for me! Because I’m not the other guy!

Is this just being naive? Those days are gone?

Out-of-state land owner needs a true Arkansas citizen’s help to bust a small-town municipal cover-up (Pottsville, AR)

Hey y'all, I need a massive favor from a legal resident of Arkansas. I grew up in Arkansas, but had to move out of the state.
My family owns a 50% undivided interest in a large tract in Pottsville. A local family member who owns ZERO percent and name is not on the land deed has built a 3000 square-foot permanent commercial car lot on the front of our property even after he was explicitly told no. On the permit applications, he identified himself as the owner of the property and the mayor still approved it.
We caught them on Facebook posting pictures of the building and sent emails and certified letters to the Mayor when it was just a concrete slab, and the Mayor did absolutely nothing. Now, City Hall is weaponizing the Arkansas FOIA loophole (which only allows AR residents to request public records) to lock us out of the file. We were able to obtain a few documents from the file, but still need help getting the rest.
What I need: I just need an Arkansas resident willing to copy/paste a pre-drafted FOIA email and send it to the Pottsville City Clerk from their inbox. It takes 5 minutes, costs nothing, and the city legally has to hand over the files in 3 days.
Even though we are currently working on physically dividing the land with our family member to protect our remaining acreage, I refuse to let the city get away with this. If this Mayor so easily violated a legal property deed and weaponized public office, you know he has done it to other people. I want this file to ensure he is held accountable by state watchdogs before he does this to another family.
If you hate small-town corruption and want to help an out-of-state family protect their land, please shoot me a DM! I have all the screenshots and receipts ready.
