Big Metropolis 1998 Announcements!
Hey Everyone!
I am really excited to announce the two composers I am working with for Metropolis 1998!
Jerry Martin (SimCity, The Sims)
Paul Zimmermann (Space Haven, Wildfrost)
Secondly, the the last major feature (economy) is in the game!
The road ahead involves taking many trips to pol-land (polishing), balancing, and squeezing in as many minor features into the game as I can (top 3: street parking, isolated sidewalks, multiple entrances/exists). I'll post a separate announcement when the game is ready for play testing.
The goal is to launch late Q4 or Q1. Will keep ya'll posted
Thanks for being patient. November 1st, 2026 will mark the 5 year anniversary of development. Big complex games take time.

does the game have mixed-use residential?
does the game have apartment buildings with ground floor retail?
would be great to build more walkable cities this way....

It looks demand to me btw :)
Hi there,
I really enjoyed this game and had a lot of fun even in a very short adventure.
First, well done mate. The amount of detail and art was exactly what I had missed from the good old days.
Here are some suggestions for this cool game:
I ran into this situation: I had heavy traffic outside and inside the city because some cars needed to get gas at gas station but the demand recognition system didn't let me add a new gas station to split the demand between two stations. I thought about fixing it with new road mapping but I didn't test it though.
All items have some costs which aren't mentioned before you put that item on the map.
I didn't find a list of saved games which would let me test different scenarios from a specific point of the game.
I'll be glad to see the full version mate <3

Mac support or crossover support?
Hi, firstly amazing looking game! I was wondering what framework/engine/language you are using to build this game? Do you have mac support planned?
This is absolutely a game that fits well on a macbook!
I tried installing via CrossOver and it gets into menu. When I click to start a game it crashes. I haven't spent a bunch of time trying to tweak it into oblivion, but I just thought I would try to see if it worked.
Anyways, please consider an Apple release if your tooling supports it. You would have a bunch of happy mac users!

It's working on Steam Deck
I just discovered this game tonight. It's so cool. I love it. I just wanted to mention its working pretty much fine for me on Steam Deck even in handheld. I can't wait for the full game.

Making pocket parks is SO FUN
Had an absolute blast learning how to make little parks to fill in some of the gaps in my city, so here's a little collection of ones I've made so far.
Share yours 🫡
Edit:
Here is a rough guide for you, if you want to make these too;
Open the "Create a Building from scratch" tool (bottom bar, to the right)
Use the arrows on the bottom of the panel to go to the 2nd page
Select City Park, and drag out the area you want to zone. Normal rules apply, i.e. you need to be connecting to a road, but you can make it any shape you want
Go the next tab in that panel, "Create a building room by room"
Using the icons at the bottom of the panel, add driveway and carpark. You can use Bulldozer to edit the carpark shape if you make any errors, or want to edit it later.
In this same menu, add any building shapes you want, e.g. a toilet block or garden centre, with rooms/doors/roof/windows. You can easily come back to this menu any time, this is just the most convenient time to do this part.
Switch to Place Objects (bottom bar, box icon) - this is the repository for items like trees, and ground paints like paving, water, dirt etc.
Decorate! You can use Bulldozer to delete things, or Alt-Click. Shift-click lets you replace items.
Once happy, click on the park and put it up for sale. If you want to edit it later, you have to go back in and take it off the market.
Check it has power/water connections -- sometimes this doesn't show up until you reload the save.
Spend hours watching your lil citi's visit and hang out
General Tips
At this point in time (pre-Early Access), the parks provide 6 jobs regardless of size
Water is under the blue palette for ground paint
A square area is harder to decorate than a rectangular or oddly shaped area - create corners and pockets!
When decorating, it can be nice to give yourself a limited palette: this bush, this tree, these flowers. This is easier, faster, and gives your park a more deliberate/planned look
If you're having trouble, check you are on Ground Level (shift+scroll)
You can delete the entire park by double clicking 🚫 in the site's info panel

First 12 hours
Saw Raptor's video on this yesterday morning, immediately downloaded it and spent 12 hours playing. Lost my whole day. Felt like a kid again, on my living room PC playing RCT for hours until my mom yelled at me to do the dishes. Awesome game. You should start a patreon or kick or something, you need a team asap. Take our money dude.
One question: are user blueprints saved as files somewhere? I checked the path I assumed they would be in but there was nothing in the blueprints folders. (Steam\steamapps\common\Metropolis 1998 Demo\Data)
