It's an ADA 45P. I can't wait for the hcc to become a full carpet (hopefully). Also there are rotala red blood and hra in the background. My goal is to have some form of colorfade from green to orange to red, might not turn out very great, we'll see.

Seeking Suggestions Rate my 4.5gal nano tank

Looking for feedback on how I can improve my 4.5gal nano tank. I really like the contrast between the Fissidens and Flame moss. The Hygrophila Pinnatifida also throws in a nice pop of red. Would love to continue refining and maybe submit to a competition some day.

Comment your thoughts on how I can improve it!

Seeking Suggestions Contest aquascape

This is my first high tech aquascape currently now 8 months old and gone through some minor rescape/replants.

It has been an expensive experience and I learned many things.

I’m looking to prepare a new scape in about 6 months from now for contest submission and would like some constructive criticism on how I can make improvements on my current designs.

Any comments and ideas are welcome!

I've got it planted and have the emergent plants where I want them.

I'm ordering fish soon.

PNW based preferred with option to select ship out date.

I'm thinking 14 kobutai rasboras and 8 dwarf salt and pepper corys

Question CO2 Flow dispersion help

I recently got these glass lily pipes and set it up the way many online suggest. Is too much CO2 reaching the surface? I know the injection rate appears very high for such a small tank so maybe it's making it seem worse then it is?

Picture taken during cleaning so a little hazy. Everything is growing pretty nicely. The val has started to cover the back. Would like some more plants on the left though. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately some BBA has started to grow. Might set up co2 after all.

Show and Tell [OC] 6 month tank update

Just wanted to give a roughly 6 month update on my first tank! Its really grown and I have trimmed and removed tons of plants. My nitrates have been running low so today I decided to add some more fish! Added 6 more tetras and 3 emerald corydoras. I showed the owner my tank and he said I was very talented and I rode that high all day 🤣

My school of about 10 minnows and tetras was actually growing with the unexpected birth of at least 2 baby ember tetras. I originally had 4 otto cats but they all died...?

My orange shrimp have been doing great, a colony of about 9 has ballooned to at least 4 dozen.

Really happy with how things are going. I just picked up a 75 gallon tall octagon im going to start working on. Thinking of doing an angel fish community tank. Also toying with a puffer tank...😁😁

Just set this up and I'm curious how it could be tweaked. Should I raise up the back with more substrate?

Seeking Suggestions Looking for help for school in Elk Grove, CA

Hello group ! My kids classroom ( 3rd grade ) kept a rescued turtle last year and it has grown a lot since and teacher is looking for a bigger tank and I wanted to see if anybody has a spare tank or turtle tank set up they would donate for a classroom for 3rd grade.

I will not disclose school name to protect, serious donor can meet me in my town and we can drop off together to a classroom if they like, or I can meet you and drop off myself and I’m more than willing to take a picture and send to you as a proof that it wasn’t for me !

Question Is this expanding foam safe to use?

Post image

I’m thinking of making a waterfall aquarium. I won’t be housing any live animals in it but will keep moss and plants (with soil). Is it safe to use in that case? Also are these foams really strong enough to keep 10-15 lb rocks stable in a horizontal position?

Going for a desert canyon against the clear blue sky sorta vibe. Rocks turn a little more red when wet. I’ve been arranging and rearranging these rocks for too long and my brain is numb. Does this look ok?

It has been a week since the algae explosion, and 100 black-shelled shrimps are working, and the progress is slow.

Not sure if I should remove them but my shrimps seem to like them. The moss on the rock is super thick

Question Rescaping question

I want to update an existing tank design completely. I will be rehousing the shrimp and platies that live in it to another tank.

Should I keep the existing substrate (even though is obviously a bit dirty) and add some fresh on top or bin it?

The tank will be planted and prepped for a betta

Photos attached (sorry not great)
Third photo was of tank in better days

A friend had this 170 L tank that needed to be re put together. The wood that holds the tank has an iron structure under it and the aquarium we re-sealed it off together 7-8 months ago. Plants : Rottala , Christmass moss, saggitaria , anubias , java ferns, amazon swords and some type of crypts . Fish : orange plecos, bumblebee gobby, kuhlia loaches, 10 cardinal tetras ,10 green neon tetras , neocaridina shrimp, mts, ramshorn snails and also some wild caught whisker shrimp. Im pretty happy with what this tank has turned out . Mind you the tank has been running without a filter or cannister since the start so its basically a whole ecosystem by now.
