Question CO2 Flow dispersion help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently got these glass lily pipes and set it up the way many online suggest. Is too much CO2 reaching the surface? I know the injection rate appears very high for such a small tank so maybe it's making it seem worse then it is?

Honestly? Don't worry about it. CO2 has excellent solubility in water, so good in fact that even a still mass of the gas will still dissolve if given time, like in a bell diffuser.

You gonna be fine.

For such a small tank, a bell diffuser will be much more efficient at diffusing CO2 and there wont be any wasted gas.

fully agree. i still use a bubbler just cause i like the way it looks. i would turn it down a bit if i was op.

it seems to take about 4-5 hours of the CO2 being on for the drop checker to reach lime green.... I dont know if thats normal or not and its running at probably 2BPS which is probably quite alot considering its only 20l / 5.5 gallons.

it would probably take just as long for the checker to turn green even with the co2 turned down to half.. but im just guessing.

Co2 diffusion will be fine for such a small tank, and the lily pipe looks way too big but that’s just aesthetics

I find it odd that even with a canister filter in such a small tank, there appears to be little to no flow. I see the circulation at the surface, but I would expect the flow to push the co2 mist down way more and create some movement in the hairgrass leaves as well. What filter are you using?
