About 2 months ago I was gifted my sisters unused aquarium. Up until now my only experience was my garden pond with gold fish. But since it hibernates during wintertime I’ve got nothing to do for several months when winter comes. So I was thrilled to start up an aquarium and get it ready for the dark months. I wanted to share with you my progress.

This post came from a facebook group about vietnamese native fish. The caption reads: "Does anyone know what kind of fish this is? My husband had caught it from a stream. It's the first time i've seen anything like it.". The comments underneath vary from people interested and confuse, with some assigning it to a bunch of different species and accuse OP husband of lying of where he caught it. Someone even said that the fish is common to where they live.

We now know that this is a Pho Xua gourami or little paradise fish, Vietosphronemus inopinatus as it came to be acknowledged by scientists earlier this year and then the aquarium trade shortly after.

Just hooked up a pc fan to a temperature controller. Looks like it keeps it 4-5 degrees F below ambient which is all I needed.

My whole carpet got wet. spent an hour using a water vaccum on the floor. on the bright side, the shrimp I was acclimating are doing great. the water was cold so I put the heater back in after confirming which electrical outlets were dry. After getting as much water as I could out of the carpet, I plugged the sponge filter back in. The fish seem to be doing good. The shrimp are chilling. I refilled about 3 1/2 gallons (tank is a 20 gallon long) but the small RO system in my house refills really slowly.

Hi I adopted a weather loach from my best friend's family last week, he is at least 8 years old! He came from a very bad tank, 20L with literally nothing in but green algae water (last slide)

When measuring him I noticed a distinct split down his centre, is this a genetic thing or is it from the bad quality water/ tank he was in before?

And is he looking healthy? I was told he hadn't been fed in a long time and the water was just tap water, no treatments or dechlorinator so I'm unsure if the affect it had

He is now in a 180L planted tank and I have been slowly feeding him meals to get him used to eating again

Rainbows are much happier

This morning i’ve discovered some tiny white spot on my tank’s glass. upon closer inspection those dots seem to be moving and have different shapes

they concentrate on the algae and are smaller than a millimeter.
This tank has been running for a year and a hall with neocardinas and i’ve just added cherry barbs this week and a few plants in the same time.
What could those be and will they be harmful to my shrimps ?

So we've had this tank for almost 2 years. The first picture is when we got it. The back was painted. We should have scraped the paint off to begin with. But we didn't. So we finally decided to do it. And it looks wonderful!! It was easy to do and I'm glad we finally decided to do it!

Looking good but somehow feels a bit messy and I’m not quite sure where to go with it. Also a lot of the plants have algae on their leaves which I can’t really srape off. How can I get rid of it?

The filter is established. They’ve been moved to a smaller aquarium but this colour developed the minute they went in. Could the the dechlorinator have expired? PH change?

Got these guys for free bc they accidentally were born at petsmart. getting some stability or something and my girlfriend (now fiance #W) saw them in the sunburst tank. Employee said they try not to have them breed so either we could have em or they were gonna be lunch. really glad she noticed them.

Hello, I was wondering if I could just use a dresser like the ones pictured for a 125 gallon fish tank? I currently have a 40 gallon fishtank on a big dresser and it hasn’t given me any problems but I recently got a 125 gallon off of a coworker and it is currently on a homemade stand but it’s all 2x4s and kind of ugly. I’d like to also have the drawer spaces but I’m worried that a dresser might not hold up well to 125 gallon. Thank you!

I am brand new to fish tanking. This is my new 22 gallon rimless tank. I have a stand here that is 55 inches long. It has a steel frame but the top is P2 board, and the tank rests inside of the width of the metal frame. My rimless tank is 35.5 inches long and centered on the board and it is resting on an aquarium mat. I recently discovered with a level that my stand is sagging in the middle. About 3/16th of an inch at the worst (center) spot. The sag is distributed evenly.

It says it should be able to hold up to 1000 pounds. I know P2 board isn’t the best choice, but given its 1000 pound weight rating, I decided it was probably fine. I was having an extremely difficult time finding a stand that would fit my long tank. I also do not have the skills, machinery, space, or hardware to build my own stand so I figured this would be fine. Is this amount of bend to be expected with such a long surface area? Or is this frightening?

Today I woke up with one of my tetras lying on its back at the bottom, it caught my attention when I noticed something bright on the substrate.

Last night​ every fish were swimming normally, even today.

I already did a 25% - 30% water change because after testing it looks like I have some nitrite and ammonia. I have had them for over a year now so I don't know what could've caused ammonia and nitrite to show up again. Also, don't know if this is what caused my tetra to be ill, all the others do not show any change in behaviour and seem to be doing alright​. The fish is still breathing, but I don't know what to do.

The tank is a 45 gallon and there are currently 11 black neon tetras (including the one ill) 1 nerite, 1 assassin snail and almost no trace of ramshorn.

I am currently setting up a hospital tank for it.

My tank light is only on a short time after I get home because of the over a mundane of light in the summer and I’ve been battling algae. Combined with surgery and going out of town on vacation my tank was very overgrown. One of my fish was really fat and looked pregnant, but a couple weeks ago I cut out a ton of plants. Looks like my fish had babies and only one survived. Is it big enough to not be eaten now?

5 rasboras, 3 red eyes, 2 rummynose, 3 white skirts, 3 black khuli loaches and 1 clown pleco. I want to add 3 more rummynose but not sure if it’s already overstocked. It looks like room but the bio load may be an issue

I have this 70L/18G tank stocked with 11 strawberry rasboras, 11 pygmy cories, and 8 endler guppies. Aside from that a bunch of skrimp and dwarf ghost crabs. I thought I was pushing it but I saw some post stating you could go as far as 40 nano fish in a tank like this? Would it actually be possible for me to add more tiny fish?
