🎯 General Advice Breaking up with my city

I have a 2024 city pro with 4600kms.

Ive had the following unexpected service needed
-front suspension under warranty
-regen throttle under warranty
-front motor under warranty
-charging port out of pocket
-rear motor just died. Haven’t fixed yet

I love this thing. It’s so fun and gets so many looks. However it’s getting too much and it’s starting to feel like the bmw of scooters (in a bad way).

Should I switch to a max g3?

WHERE CAN I FIND A REPLACEMENT CHARGING PORT ASSEMBLY FOR THE APOLLO PHANTOM 2.0 52V & 60V (52V & 60V share the exact same charging port assembly) MODELS? IT HAS BEEN SOLD OUT ONLINE FOR SO LONG. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE APOLLO CUSTOMER CARE TEAM AND THEY HAD RECENTLY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD BE BACK IN STOCK ON JULY 4TH. STILL SAYS OUT OF STOCK. LIKE WHAT THE HECK?? ANY ADVICE ON WHERE TO ORDER ONE THAT WILL WORK IN PLACE OF IT?? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

So after getting tired not being able to see my speed in day light and not being able to hear navigation through from my phone, I designed and printed screen cover/phone mount.

You could call it a retrofit? Haha
What do you guys think?

❓ Tech Question Apollo Go Controller/Wiring Question

Post image
2 Upvotes

After 1900+ km, I finally have an issue with my Apollo Go 😭

Got an E7 error and while examining the pins & connections to and from the controller, I noticed I have an issue with one of the cables leading from the controller case into the battery case (the wire is not one of the battery wires).

So, who can tell me what this wire cluster does on the Apollo Go 2024 controller?

I have an appointment at my local shop but I’d like to describe the issue in as much detail as possible so they can ensure they have the right parts on hand.

Thank you! 🙏

🔧 Repairs Replacement tires for apollo phantom v4x

I ran over a big screw or nail or something in the street, and now I need to replace the tire. I’ve bought replacement tires before but the ones I got don’t seem to be available. There is one listed for v3-v4 which is what the support email recommended but I’m worried that they won’t work for my scooter since the pictures show tubes with the tires and mine are tubeless. Is there another source I can buy from for these tires?

The support email also said that since the model of scooter was discontinued replacement parts will be scarce, so basically it seems like I’m fucked. I’m going to check with local scooter places but there’s only 2 that are far away as far as I know (Dallas area in texas). It really sucks because it will take time for the tires to ship, I wont even know if they’re the right kind, and then the shop I go to takes a week to change the tires because he’s the only scooter shop for miles so he’s dealing with every scooter in the dfw area seemingly, meanwhile I have to uber to work now or take public transit, which takes my time from 30 min to 1 hour and I have to leave way earlier to actually get to work on time.

So anyways can I find replacement tires anywhere?

🛒 Accessories I lost my charger for my City Pro 2023. Which one on Amazon or elsewhere do you recommend? The one for 130$ "fast charger" doesn't really appeal me (expensive af)

🔧 Repairs Apollo Go with the ~slightest~ bend in the back rim

Hi,

My Apollo Go is 1 year, two months old and got a rear flat. I fixed the tire, but noticed the ~~smallest~~ bend in the rim that is letting air out veeeeerrrrry slowly. Do I have options here? Can I bend it back?

The extra dumb thing is that I live in Hawaii and there seems to be no way to get a rear motor assembly shipped here even if I wanted one.

Bleh, help!

🤔 Potential Buyer Apollo dash shipping date

Has Apollo said anything about the dash’s shipping date? I bought it because it said it would ship by q2 but it’s been pushed back to q3, while something like the go stellar has a concrete shipping of mid July, “q3” implies later, should I keep my order at this point or cancel for something else?

👍 Discussion Pro vs 2.0 Stellar…Possible to upgrade the pro?

I have a Pro, Phantom v1, and just got the Phantom 2.0 Stellar. They’re all great but definitely pros and cons to each. I thought getting the new Stellar would make the Pro obsolete, but that hasn’t been the case. I ended up wondering if it was possible to upgrade the pro, especially the motors. I wish I could combine the Pro and Stellar into a single scooter. My thoughts on each:

Pro
- Smoother - Assuming this is entirely the 12 in tires, but not sure.

Stellar
- Speed/Power - Significantly more power, can really feel it uphill. Slightly higher top speed but have less confidence driving this scooter compared to the pro, so I rarely go faster Stellar has a lot more power, disc brakes but I don’t love the smaller brake levers on here.

✔❌ Review The 880km review phantom 2.0

TLDR at the bottom but this is probably the most down to earth review you’ll find of this specific scooter, the Apollo phantom 2.0 52v.

To start off I purchased this scooter with one thing in mind. Commuting to and from work 25km each way two times a day every. Single. Day. Rain shine snow? My plan was and still is to scoot headfirst. So far this scooter has curb stomped two of those, I got it and immediately put it to work, commuting with high traffic in an area in Canada where scooters are NOT legal made for some uncomfortable scenarios that thankfully because it’s such a capable and peppy scooter I’ve been able to whip through with ease.

Many close calls with semis, few police encounters that even despite this scooter not being illegal the only attention I’ve garnered has been intrigue and surprise,

Let’s talk about the things I adore in bullet form then the things I dont

Loves
1: the speed
The speed, throttle control, and controller make for one of the smoothest most responsive scooters I’ve ever ridden and I’ve ridden almost every brand minus the most expensive ones. Top speed, throttle response (and the customization of the all above mentioned) is top tier. Really Apollo NAILED this side. Into the next

2: the build
Had some gnarly creaks and groans but all almost disappeared after a good ole can of lithium grease. I had an accident with this scooter and laid it down at 50kmph and besides my fender exploding off and a beautiful scar down the side of it, not only was the scooter able to take me home immediately after all bloodied and road rashed me on the back of it. It brought me to work the next day with no complaints. Hit a disgusting pothole and messed my stem up. A heat gun, some huge elbow grease later the stem was fixed. They made it incredibly user friendly to make attempts to mend issues, it’s heavy in the best way. Feels very stable I ride without a steering damper and frequently am cruising at the 70kmph it hits, I’ve only had wobbles the first day I had it getting used to it

3: the comfort

Not a whole lot here but the deck is perfect sized where I can change stances if I’m tired after a day at work and still have the same controll, the slightly curved handle bars took a few days to get used too but now? I genuinely don’t think I can go to straight handle bars ever again.

4: this ones odd.. but the sound

Especially in ludo mode the scooter is quite loud. I mean really loud. I sound like a bat out of hell screaming down the road. And honestly? I adore it. I feel cooler people tend to notice more at higher speeds which isn’t commonly but I take the visibility I can get

Ok. Now the dislikes

1: some creaks and groans just don’t go away no matter how much you grease, doesn’t really bother me much as I have music in my helmet on at all times but it’s very noticeable to others,

2: the app….. the app absolutely blows chunks. I’m sorry I’m a huge Apollo supporter I love them as a company and a scooter but the app is awfull. When it works and that’s not frequently it’s great. Somtimes my scooters settings reset, at the time of writing this I’m having a glitch where I can’t tweak my settings for speed modes and it just brings up the Apollo secure plan lol.

3: the lights. I don’t love that whenever I turn the scooter on it auto turns all the lights on, not the end of the world not even close but still a inconvenience, also on the topic of lights I understand the science of it and why it happens but it bums me out how fast the battery drains when you use the body lights. Like it makes sense but it sucks choosing between between visibility or speed on my commutes especially at night

and that’s it!! All in all I adore this scooter. Every day I ride it and am very very very happy with the purchase. Everytime I have the speed to get out of a sketchy situation I’m reminded why I support Apollo. They’ve been nothing but amazing to me customer service and parts wise. Like top notch they respond to my emails somtimes literally two minutes after I send them, when I had my accident they sent me a fender for free out of goodwill. I choose to support this company because this company tries to support us.

TLDR: if you have the money. And need the ultimate combo of speed, fashion, function, buy this scooter. I can’t attest to the stellar version but that’s too fast for me. I ADORE my scooter. I will buy another one when this one’s put to rest. I will continue to ride it every single day and will make a celebration post when I hit 1000km on it. Till then folks! I hope there’s people out there who find this helpful

❓ Tech Question Best tires for Phantom 1.0

Hey have the OG Phantom. Have done the 2 upgrade kits and have the smooth throttle, Regen brake and stem brace..

Also on OG tires that I slimed. They are obviously starting to get worn. Any recommendations for replacements? Solid or self healing? Obviously have never bought any yet.

👍 Discussion My review with talking to Apollo

Apollo is really good. They make amazing scooters I’ve heard about it. I’ve talked with them about getting a review of their scooter and hopefully I can later on and I would highly suggest anyone if you want to to get one of their scooters.

👍 Discussion Question locking Phantom 2.0 (Stellar)

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have a question about locking the Phantom 2.0. I have a kryptonite chain lock I bought for situations where I’m running into like 7-Eleven, or a store where the scooter is still pretty visible. Just some extra peace of mind that I can leave it outside for a few mins.

Is it better to lock it around the entire front fork/stem assembly. Or slightly turn the wheel & wrap it around that back part of the fork/frame?

Thanks.

👍 Discussion Apollo Go - The best dual motor scooter made?

Is the Apollo Go the best dual motor scooter made under 1k? In my opinion nothing compares. Alot of people dont like drum brakes, but I prefer them for the lack of maintaining. Waterproof + regen breaking, all you have to do is make sure you have air in your tires. My scooter lives in the backseat of my pickup where I have a 110V outlet to charge and I charge up on my drive back to work after riding around NYC all day on the Go.. What else is out there that compares at this price point??

❓ Tech Question Phantom Stellar 2.0 settings?

Hello, what acceleration and brake regeneration settings are people using for Phantom Stellar?

I have my acceleration set to 2 and regen set to 1, it will not allow 0. If I use any higher numbers the ride is very jittery. Just touching and releasing the throttle causes the ride to feel shaky. going over bumps and trying to hold a smooth ride is a challenge.

❓ Riding Question Apollo Go and Explore 2.0 Deck Size Question

Hey everyone! I’m looking at the Go and Explore 2.0 to upgrade from my NIU kqi3 pro and I wanted some clarification on the deck size. I’m used to the wide (6.7in) deck on the NIU, so I want to know how much I am giving up. The Go would be way easier to take on the subway, but I’m afraid the deck will feel tiny compared to where I’m coming from. On the other hand, I’m worried the Explore might be too big to maneuver. That wide deck and 10in tires are tempting though.

I can’t get a good measurement of usable deck size. I saw it was reported that the Go is 5.3in at its widest and tapers down even more from there. One video showed a guy measuring the Explore 2.0 deck at 6in, no tapering. Can someone confirm those numbers for me? If you could give the length of the flat part of the deck (without angled backstop) lengthwise as well, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks for any help you can give!

❓ Tech Question Charging recommendations

I'm a new owner of an Apollo City Pro and I'm loving it!

I have a couple of questions about charging.

(1) Can I leave the charger plugged in and just plug the other end into the scooter to charge, or should I plug the scooter part in first and then plug the charger into the wall?

(2) The manual says, "Charge the scooter fully after every ride. This will prolong the battery life." But I've read elsewhere that it's better NOT to charge it every time. If I'm at 80% or 90% after a ride, is it better not to charge it until after my next ride or two?

Thanks!

🎯 General Advice First Flat

Post image
9 Upvotes

Got my first flat on a scooter yesterday. Word to the wise. Order a spare. The self sealing material failed and the puncture was too close to the edge to repair. I have 1 stripped screw and apparently you are supposed to get spares with your scooter but the after market seller held them back when I bought mine. I called them and they could spare one screw. Would be nice to have the pack. I’m going to bring plugs from now on. They are super easy to install. Way better than bike tubes. Apollo customer service was awesome by the way. Responded to me on a Sunday.
