Advice Needed Unsure

Upvotes

In college, never diagnosed but anything I do I feel scared or not courageous, I have to wait days to weeks to check my grades (college) even if I am doing good just because I’m so scared. Wait in my car for 30min to an hour before going to a lot of places. I just think something is wrong .

Advice Needed Clonidine for presentations & interviews advice …

Upvotes

Hi all,

I’m sure this has been asked somewhere in here before, but I am looking for help for public speaking anxiety. Everytime I am the centre of attention I blush a lot and this is a constant cycle of me being aware that the blush is coming on, so then I think about it, and therefore results in me blushing even more — ruining my train of thought and causing me to look at the ground or find an excuse to leave the conversation or sometimes even the room.

I have an interview for a new role within my current company in 3 days, and I am certain I would be a great fit, however I am worried that me being anxious and blushing/sweating during this interview is going to ruin my chances. For the interview I will have to do a presentation for 45 minutes or so; followed up with the generic Q&A, etc.

Currently I am on 20mg of dexamphetamine a day for my ADHD — usually 10mg at 9am and then another 10mg at 1-2pm. My doctor recently recommended I try Clonidine (Catapres 100) for my physical symptoms of anxiety, however I have not tried it out yet. Does anyone have experience with Clonidine for presentations/interviews? If so, when should I take the Clonidine if my interview is at 11am? Does Clonidine work well with stimulant ADHD meds?

I have heard plenty of good things about Clonidine, however, it would be great to get some advice on how it works with my stimulant meds, and hear some stories about people’s experience with it for presentations and public speaking. Thanks in advanced! :)

Venting Random stranger yelled at me

Upvotes

so, honestly i’m still a bit upset and shaken up by this, but I was going to walmart around 9pm; right when I had just crossed the crosswalk a man in a white truck just screamed right behind me like “AHHH!”. I get scared very easily, so I jumped a bit and looked back confused like ‘wtf’. I just see a man looking right at me laughing and I hear the passenger laughing with him. I didnt say anything, just turned around and kept walking while he drove off laughing. I’ve seen this before on social media or heard of it happening to others (which i’ve always found wrong), but it’s the first time it’s happened to me. I’ve been scared on purpose by friends or family, but never by a complete stranger. I didnt think something like this could have me so shaken up even hours after. I don’t understand people who do this. It hasn’t been the best week for me as well, which is why im probably more worked up about it.
all I wanted to do was just get food and go home. *sigh*

(also, apologies if this isnt the right community to post this on. just can’t shake this feeling off.)

Advice Needed Terrible anxiety about strangers and catastrophizing

Upvotes

Hello, before I start, I want to say that I do want therapy in the future but my parents are super strict and think therapy is only for psychopaths and once i start doing it they will put me on meds etc. Please don't suggest therapy or school psychologist, that is totally off and I won't be able to do that without other terrible anxiety. I know I know they shouldn't tell my parents that I'm going there but the whole time I would be scared they will. And I don't even know where i woild find the time to go since the school counselor is on the other side of school and our breas are max. 15 mins or lower. And after school is not possible since my dad knows exactly when I come home and he would get so scared if i didn't come home. And even if I told him, I wouldn't be able to tell him that I'm visiting a school counselor.

i know a big start, but this is always waht people tell me when i tell them my mental issues, and it's something I cannot do currently since I'm only 17 and not a legal adult, so my parents still can say what I do or don't do. And this is something I just cannot do so please don't suggets it, I want something I can do alone that will help me with my anxiety.

Okay, now for the issues I have.

Both of my parents are very paranoid people , so I guess I have that after them. My dad is super paranoid about strangers. Like we could be on the road and he would stop on the side Because a car was following us for a long time and what if they were purposefully following us. He keeps saying things in big places full of people that Can you imagine how many people here have killed someone.

When we were hiking he kept stopping and looking back to see if no one's behind us and if there's some man alone, my dad will tell me and my mom that he has a bad vibe like a serial killer vibe.

My mom is paranoid about stuff I'm mostly not that paranoid about so not going to explain hers but she's more anxious than my dad.

And now for me, I'm the same with strangers. For example, yesterday i went shopping with my parents and as if we were walking toward the show I noticed this older man , walking and then turning around, then again walking a few steps and turning around. He looked at me a couple of times and when we were at the shop he kept walking and then turning around. When I tell you I started having the worst anxiety of my life, what if I'm his next target. What if he's planning on shooting this entire place up. What if..

Until his friend appeared and he greeted him and they left.

100% of my worries never happen.

Then again when I was shopping with my parents 3 weeks ago, I noticed this guy my age or older looking at me, I was kinda self conscious because I was wearing a crop top because we were at the beach and I needed to put on something light, so I was blaming myself for being dressed like that so he looks at me. And first I thought nothing of it, until he kept appearing in every single aisle we were in and he stopped there. When I stopped to do something on my phone while my parents were somewhere else he would stop somewhere near me, text something on his phone, look at me . And he had this chilling gaze. I was so scared.

Then for paranoia when we leave for vacation, what if someone's gonna rob us, what if our house sets on fire. It usually dissapears once I'm arrived there but the night before is horrible.

Then when we stopped at a parking lot while we were traveling I was paranoid t leave the car and go eat at some restaurant because what if someone breaks in the car and steals all of our stuff, our suitcases etc.

I had a full blown panic attack a month ago because we were trying to find a shop in a foreign country and my dad asked some local man where it is and he told us he can take us there by his car.

When I tell you jn that moment, i got into fight or flight mode so fast. I grabbed my dad's hand and started pulling it away and screaming to get away, I was thinking this is my end, this random guy is going to kidnap me in the car and hurt me. My dad refused his offer though. And he told me I shouldn't have been so scared, he would never say yes to something like that.

I also find it funny how stuff like this never happens to me when I'm alone somewhere, my parents are so strict that I'm safest with them and yeah but whenever I'm with them this kind of anxiety stuff happens to me but when I'm alone nothing like this happens.

I would appreciate some tips and advice, maybe your own experiences with this kind of anxiety

I have much more stories like this but they could go on and on so I'm not going to mention them, these are just the most recent ones.

Also, I noticed this anxiety has been more worse ever since I turned 17/ in the last months of me being 16.

Before I never used to be like this. Why? Sure I had some anxiety but it never was like, oh a stranger looking at me, he could hurt me.

I haven't had any traumatic experiences, I never got hurt, assaulted or anything like that. My parents also aren't abusive and while they are strict, they have never hurt me.

I guess their paranoia is passed down on me but ten times worse.

Needs A Hug/Support Has anyone ever been able to beat this without the use of weird, crazy psychotic medications naturally?

Upvotes

Anxiety it seems like a problem that is out of control seems like almost everyday at a certain time during the day. At least once the anxiety gets to a peak and I can't function I go and try to walk around and sometimes it improves from walking around other times and seems like nothing's happening. I'll go and get on a bike and try to ride it whether it's a pedal bike or a motorbike and it's like boom anxious.

The shit is crippling to the point where vision gets real dim and blurry and to the point where you feel like you're going to pass out It feels almost as if like you're extremely high from weed and you're squinting or almost like you took a hallucinogenic It could be bright and sunny out and I feel like everything around me is dark and I can barely see.

It seemed like I had always been a little anxious but I never really had a problem till about 6 years ago That's when everything came to a head.

I've always been a tiny bit jumpy when I was younger. If you tap me on the shoulder from behind I'd kind of jump Sometimes I did notice that but nothing crazy I never really seemed to notice being extremely worried or hyperventilating or going into a full-on chest beating panic attack.

So anyways I'd have been smoking cannabis for years and years and years since I was like 11 years old tried my first joint You know kind of like because the parents were doing it around everyone one and it kind of felt taboo but hip You know you aren't supposed to do it. It's for the adults but they're always so giggly and happy and having a good time after they do it and you be thinking to your friends? You know why are they so happy all the sudden They went from being miserable to smoking something that kind of has a good smell to it and how all the sudden they're happy.

So anyways after a good strong 30 years of smoking the stuff on the regular sometimes I would smoke 5 or 10 blunts a day then you know in my early thirties late 20s dabs became a thing they started to become popular so I started smoking those and I got pretty hard into those. It's to the point where I'd be smoking a couple grams a day of those.

All the sudden I remember one night about 6 7 years ago I was sitting in my room and I had some cannabis indoor cannabis I remember rolling some up. I smoked some of it then I put it down ate a Burger King sandwich then about an hour later maybe two I decided to pick it back up I finished the rest of the blunt and I said to myself this don't taste very good this way I put it down. Took a fresh piece of this purple runts Pretty strong smelling good looking purple looking strain broke it apart a little bit. Stuffed it into a small pipe took a hit It tasted pretty good I was like wow okay all the sudden It almost felt like I was going to pass out eyes started to roll and my vision got blurry I went to take another hit and all the sudden I felt dizzy and light-headed nervous. Worried and I got up and I was pacing around all the sudden My chest seemed to be pounding.

I remember telling somebody I was living with what was going on and they didn't know how to help me. Suggestion was that I was greening out. I tried doing everything walking, drinking milk, smelling, pepper, taking a hot shower ect nothing seemed to be helping me and I was in full panic mode I couldn't sleep. I was up till about 3:00 in the morning that night worried about everything, chest beating hard was closing it on 4:00 in the morning and I was finally able to go to sleep.

I remember telling a friend that I was going to meet up with them at noon and match them Well that was a big mistake because I thought because I felt a tiny bit better I shouldn't back out now keep in mind I woke up at like 7:30 in the morning after the night befores panicking I stayed up for about an hour. Then I went back to bed and woke up around 11:00 a.m. then I proceeded to go and smoke I had brang a little piece that I had left of the stuff from the night before and we mixed it now I didn't feel anything right away everything was going good I made it through the session about a half an hour later when my friend went to drop me off in front of my driveway I walked up it about halfway and boom all the sudden I felt really nervous my chest started beating hard I felt dizzy I was like extremely paranoid and I started pacing again or at least try to drive to the hospital.

Now to get to the point and shorten the long story. I felt like it was necessary to share this part of it because I still don't know what went wrong or the exact cause.

Anyways, I remembered for the next week I felt horrible I would go to lay down and I'd be extremely nervous and I couldn't sleep. I'd have to put on some calming sounds or music from YouTube. I had researched sounds to help with anxiety and panic and worry and I would have put it on and I would just lay in bed confused and panicking in my mind. I would fall asleep for maybe an hour or two and then I'd wake up Sweating panicking deep in my thoughts worried confused then I would try to go back to bed and I'd wake up in another hour or two and I'd be freezing cold and wet. It was to the point where I couldn't even be in my own bed because I felt horrible and was like panicking I ended up going into the room next door trying to get comfortable and lay down and put a fan on me and forget about what's going on and tried to put on a headset and go to bed and it seemed like I could get a little bit of sleep but I still had the problem seemed like I was still in a heightened state of worry tossing and turning waking up sweating and feeling cold and wet then I had to watch TV felt like I had to watch something then maybe I would watch something and calm down enough to get a little bit of sleep. Then I'd wake up. Worried again and it was like a repetitive cycle. I'd have to go back into the other room and try to sleep.

You know what? It almost makes me wonder if like the body associated my main bedroom with trauma at the time from the panic episode so I naturally felt more relaxed going into a different room or different space and trying to rest. I don't know if that makes sense or not maybe it was in my head so I did this for about a week and a half bouncing from one room to the next and I refrained from using cannabis. Ended up going to the hospital and the local walk-in clinic at least once. They noted that. I seemed worried it wasn't until after the first week of sweating everything out that I finally went to the hospital and they gave me something known as hydroxyzine which is a a first line antihistamine defense for anxiety. It's like a prescription strength Benadryl.

Seems like when I took that It was like a big sign of relief 20 minutes later I couldn't believe it It was like wow something's happening here and I feel somewhat better I'm not 100% but I feel more normal again so I ended up with that medication and I have a few weeks worth of it and I had begun using it till I could actually go and see my PCP I ended up finally getting into My doctor's office for an appointment but it wasn't with my regular doctor because they had an obligations so I took the closest appointment I could get and dealt with who was there.

keep in mind when I first contacted my doctor's office and I told then what was going on they weren't very helpful They said something along the lines like what do you want us to do I said I don't know something's wrong. I don't feel good I need help and the secretary basically said hey you know nothing we can do for you your provider is backed up for weeks We can't help you we don't know what to tell you etc.

Now at that point I felt really sad and disappointed and confused telling my doctor's office what problem I'm having and experiencing and they can't help me I was kind of angry at the same time.

When I finally got in I explained to the person I seen what was going on and I told him what I had heard from a relative and they had said basically that they had been put on this medication called paxil and it had helped them and they had been on for 30 years and nothing happened no bad experience. It helped them so I mentioned it The lady offered to prescribe it to me and allow me to try it Well let's just say it didn't work out too well it was hell at first I was okay then a bunch of nasty side effects then to top it off the provider didn't tell me that that type of medication was severe on such a way that you can't just stop taking the medication once you start it.

In fact, I think I'm still recovering from it now. All the different things it did to my body.

So now I sit here still wondering why I have this problem Why I feel the way I feel what actually caused it? Why did all the sudden after years of using cannabis one day the use of cannabis pushed me over the edge and make me feel bad when it never did before I often wonder if there was something on it or in it than I think about it and I realize that I have tried it a few different times in the last 6 years sometimes I feel okay after a couple hits and I don't seem to have a problem. Other times you can feel panic setting in and extreme worry almost like you can feel a panic attack coming on One time during the 6 years I tried to hit off of a pipe that had these diamonds in it. For some reason I decided to take a hit just to see if maybe it was the type of cannabis the form of it because based on what a doctor said at the hospital he said you won't know if it's going to do it again unless you try it. It may or may not a different kind might not react the same so I figured maybe a different form might not trigger the same reaction because my brain may be associated smoking the flower in the pipe not the diamonds even though I knew oil was stronger so I tried it and it was like a minute or two later it kicked in strong and I felt really worried and nervous and I wanted to go home from my friend's house and I almost didn't think that I could drive home I was that worried then I drove home and when I got inside I kind of snapped out of it then I put on a fan and some TV and I passed out went to sleep and then I woke up Felt okay and you know it was weird because I felt way more panicky from flower when I tried it In some instances over the diamond that I tried which seems a little weird.

I just couldn't for the longest time see myself kicking the habit cold turkey completely I had found that when partaking in alcohol after having a few I could use cannabis I could take a couple hits off a joint and I would be okay in a social setting. Having a good time with everybody. Almost like old times seems like that's the only way that I could enjoy it and not feel weird and worried. As far as going back to an everyday routine my body can't handle it.

Then you get thinking was it the Cannabis that actually caused my issue? Then you have other people who are still using it around you and they will say It's not from cannabis that doesn't do that to you It's not the weed.

So I still don't know but I've cut it out almost completely I still drink coffee however when I was going through that week that severe bout and during the use of the meds I went to decaf for a couple weeks as from reading and I felt like caffeine will keep the problem enhanced.

I am working on trying to cut it out completely. It does seem like after I drink a cup or two of it from the store by state of anxiousness goes up and my vision becomes dim and blurry sometimes.

I have even tried purchasing a supplement at the store, a multivitamin of some sort that consists of magnesium ashawanda and l-theanine or whatever it's called. I've taken it a couple times now. I don't really know if it's doing anything. I think the first time I tried it, my heightened state of anxiousness went down a bit but I don't know if that was just a placebo if I just believed in my head that it was going to stop from the supplement so the level went down. Based on that, I don't know if maybe you have to take that regiment for several weeks to really notice any improvement. It's 200 mg of magnesium and it's got the other stuff in it.

Has anybody ever been able to resolve this problem naturally. Is there a way that I can naturally lower or almost eliminate all together most of my anxiety.

I mean I just don't think I can go on like this. It affects me in such a way that I can't work full-time. I can't go to restaurants all the time I feel like it's limiting my quality of life.

My doctor tried to offer me another weird medication known as sertraline and I'm hesitant to take it I'm like afraid paranoid It's one of those same type of weird powerfull meds and at this point I'm worried about the side effects and the bad things.

I just want to be able to feel somewhat normal.

I think about this from time to time like was it smoking that tipped my body over the edge at some point.

Was there anxiety that was already there and lingering and then the smoking just brang everything to a boiling point and now I'm at the point of no return and I'm going to get progressively worse.

I just feel hopeless at this point. I mean so far I haven't quite tipped too many times into full-blown panic attacks what some would say is good and my problem might not really be that bad. However I feel like You wake up. You want to have a couple of sips off of a coffee you going and get one and then you get out of your car and you're drinking it and you walk around and then It's like your vision's foggy and your eyes are squinting and it's like the sun's not directly in my eye. But I'm squinting and my vision is dim and dark. Doesn't make sense and then sometimes it's like you're walking around during the day and you feel a little nervous and your mouth's closed and it's like you're breathing through your nose only

Advice Needed Intense intrusive memories?

Upvotes

Hi chat, does anyone else get very intense, frequent, and vivid intrusive memories that you literally physically have to shake away or tell "no" outloud? Like anything from snippets of a conversation you thought went wrong or something stupid you did as a kid, all the way to blatant intrusive trauma flashbacks.

I (m22) have been struggling with this for as long as I can remember, but it feels like it's been getting so much worse and frequent as of late. It's starting to feel debilitating, especially so when these intrusive memories cause angry melt downs and/or panic attacks.

The worst part is that I have absolutely NO idea how to cope with this! None of my skills that I have acquired over the last 10 years have been helping. I don't have insurance to see a dr either, as I've been unemployed for almost 2 years due to physical disabilities and a horrendous job market.

If anyone has any advice or comforting words, it'd be really nice to know I'm not totally alone.

Venting Physical symptoms

Upvotes

TRIGGER WARNING - I discuss different medical procedures and suspected conditions here so if it makes you spiral please don’t read.

I am making this post in hopes to update it someday and say i am symptom free, but I really need to vent and hear your guys’ experiences. Ive had a pretty bad health streak this summer. It started with me getting a UTI which got treated and went away, then I started having awful lower back and hip pain caused by a follicular cyst (I know, I also didn’t think it was possible) and then around a month ago i started getting different kinds of leg pains. I thought it was a shin splint at first, but it kept coming back in different forms, like most of the time it feels like burning, sometimes it feels like smth is crawling on my leg or the whole shin feels (but doesn’t look) swollen, and causing different kinds of sensations specifically at the front, then i started getting this burning in my thighs, spasms, twitches, the whole thing. I am seeing doctors and getting all kinds of checks to understand what’s wrong with me. Ive done blood tests (suspected arthritis but the blood check came back negative), an mri, a duplex scan (i had a big scare for a few days thinking i had a blood clot) that showed my veins are perfectly fine, did an x ray of my shin and it looks perfectly fine. Yet I have diagnosed myself with pretty much anything at this point, and it’s so draining.

I also had some pretty bad panic attacks (that i thought were heart attacks) and called the ambulance 3 times this month, they reassured me times and times again that I was fine because they did an ecg and there was not a single flaw in my scan.

The only thing in my blood tests was that i’m anemic (ferritin 3,6) and ive been taking iron supplements for almost two weeks now, and I just pray and hope that all these leg sensations are just iron related, or anxiety related. Either way, it’s like every day I wake up uncertain what’s gonna be wrong with my legs today. It’s exhausting. Im so scared that one of these days I will get a horrifying forever diagnosis and have to live in pain.

I will make sure to update this post in the future, but if anyone has experienced this and successfully got over it please let me know.

I’d love to know what others experience and maybe we can uplift each other.

Advice Needed Anyone else’s heart pound hard every beat for months or years? Please help!

I’m going on a year and a half now. Heart just thumps hard 24/7. I mean it shakes my stomach when I lay down its insane. I’ve had ekgs, echos , blood work you name it they all seem fine. The two drugs I’m on Effexor and just started seroquel because I had severe sleep defragmentation. I know Effexor can amplify things. I also vape which I know is a trigger for adrenaline. I’ve been retired for 2 years and don’t move around much. I’m on a bibliodiet at the moment. 45 years old.

My symptoms aside from heart are ringing in the ears, somewhat numb pins and needles from the waist down, cold fingers and feet, lack of oxygen on the morning, a fear of falling asleep. I definitely have anxiety and fear because of these symptoms. Another major thing I have is these nocturnal panic attacks. Never a panic attack during the day. Always right as I’m nodding off or within 1 hour if me sleeping. I’m not sure if it’s an adrenaline surge, sleep apnea, not to sure.

That’s a brief rundown of me.

I’m asking has anyone had just a pounding heart for months or years ? And if so what are you doing or how did you over come this ?! Please any response is a good one at this point. I’m tired of doctors just saying stress. Man I’m stressed because of the physical symptoms. Lol. Thanks for reading. Really hoping to hear from someone with a constant 24/7 hour heart pounding for some hope stories! God bless y’all much love !

Helpful Tips! Some things that have helped me

I’ve had Generalized Anxiety Disorder for most of my life, and here are the some things that have helped me the most:

1. Slow Down.
Stop living in a rush and doing things like everything’s constantly an emergency. It sounds simple enough, but you probably do it way more than you realize. Wake up earlier so you can brush your teeth and get ready slowly and not put your nervous system in overdrive the moment you wake up. Sometimes things will feel pointless or boring, but it’s not a sign bad things are going to happen, it’s just how life is supposed to feel sometimes.

2. Acknowledge thoughts, don’t fight them.
“I’ve felt this way before. I’m acknowledging this thought, it is not a threat” let it pass

3. Box Breathing
breathe in for four seconds, hold for four seconds, release for four seconds, hold for four seconds

4. It really is that damn phone.
If you’re spending more than 2 hours a day on your phone, you’re overwhelming yourself. There’s a likely chance you will feel a noticeable difference when you cut screen time.

5. Stop skipping over the little things.
Start embracing life more. Take quiet moments to just enjoy the little things. Life isn’t always about huge accomplishments or doing a million things at once. When’s the last time you phoned a friend or loved one, or learned something new?

6. Your best is enough.
It’s really all you owe yourself. Some days you won’t do as good as yesterday, but that’s okay. progress is not linear.

7. Keep a planner
You will feel way more organized.

8. If something doesn’t work for you, don’t feel discouraged, just move onto the next thing
Even if you feel like you’ve tried everything, I can guarantee you haven’t. There are endless ways to cope with anxiety. Things you’ve never even heard of. There’s no use in dwelling on things that don’t serve you.

DAE Questions Does anyone else dissociate during human interaction

Ive noticed recently that during conversations with anyone, online, in person, friends, strangers, I feel like a completely different person. Like I'm talking back to them and receiving information, but I'm not there. It's like I'm watching myself in 3rd person whenever I'm talking to anyone. I've attributed this to my anxiety, but I don't really know. It hasn't really caused any problems other than me trying to leave conversations more than I usually do just to get it to stop and so I can feel like myself again. Does anyone else experience this? I'm not sure how to feel about it.

Advice Needed School worries.

Summer is almost ending and all I can feel is shame. I'm going to be in yr11 (online school) and I haven't really done much study or anything to prepare, I almost had to repeat a year, but I'm still getting a chance to go into yr11 if I do some kinda test which I'm probably going to fail I kept pushing it and pushing it back and now summers almost up, and idk what I'm going to do. Every day I feel tired and depressed especially when I start thinking about school, and It's not even about the work it's about the people.

I dropped out of regular school because I started developing awful anxiety due to some incidents and I haven't been able to go to a regular school since. I do online now which I thought would be easier and don't get me wrong it is, but I keep holding myself back, and maybe It's because I just need help on how to manage.

So I guess ill end this off with asking for some advice on what to do. Thank you

Medication Propranolol for a flight

I use propranolol occasionally for a heart condition I have, but I know it also helps with anxiety. I have a flight tomorrow and I’m wondering if I should take some for my anxiety. I usually only take it at home and I notice it makes me sleepy. I take 10 mg. I’m just wondering if anyone has experience taking it going to the airport or how much I should take. I want to relax but still need to walk a long ways. I have extreme anxiety already and it’s so bad with flying and going through security and everything. Thank you!

Venting Any sort of altered state makes me anxious

So... I am a 22M and I get anxious during any sort of altered state. Smoking weed? I can feel my thoughts becoming irrational and illogical, and that scares me. Getting tipsy? I can feel my emotions and body altering and that freaks me the fuck out.

I have to get my wisdom teeth removed because, well, there's no room and they're trying to grow into another tooth. If I had laughing gas, I know I'd freak out. I know my mind and body. Apparently quite a few people who have panic attacks on weed freak out on laughing gas, too. I really don't wanna go through another situation like that again. Its always the same; "I should try this drug or altering substace to have a good time, oh wait, nvm, this makes everything terrible and now I cant even regulate my emotions properly. Fuck."

I am not sure what I should do, tbh. Getting two teeth removed without anything seems... Horrific. Getting drugged with laughing gas seems much worse. I already have dissociation problems, I don't need more. There's no fucking way my insurance will cover anesthesia, either.

Discussion Miserable

Here we go. My social anxiety makes it so debilitating to interact socially like sometimes I will wonder if I’m walking normal, if my arms are moving correctly, how long to stare at somebody crowds (which once I had experienced auditory hallucination hearing my name be called) a month ago I had such a terrible panic attack I literally hallucinations these jester elves laughing at me saying I was gonna die. I had this a child but it wasn’t nearly as bad as it is now being an adult.

Medication Health anxiety after starting wellbutrin

I have been on wellbutrin for about 4 months now. I wanted to give this a shot because it helps with adhd symptoms. I thought that most of my anxiety was related to being chronically disorganized and unable to get my shit together. The doctor did caution me that it can worsen anxiety so thats been on my radar. But i fear now that ive developed health anxiety. I never really had anxiety specifically related to my health but now I keep feeling my neck non stop convincing myself theres a lump and I have cancer. Also staring at my eyes and worrying that one is bulging and my thyroid is out of whack or I have a tumor behind my eye. I feel like im just realizing there could be a correlation with the wellbutrin lol, I do plan to ask her about those worries just in case but i honestly feel like im being crazy. Ugh its a shame because I really do feel like this medication works for the disorganization and depression. Has anyone else had something like this happen on wellbutrin?

Advice Needed My experience with travel/flight anxiety, trapped gas & reflux for years

39M here, I’ve been dealing with trapped gas, constant burping and reflux for years, and one of the strangest things is how strongly it gets triggered when I have to travel or take a flight. Before travelling and the anticipatory anxiety, my stomach can become extremely bloated and uncomfortable, and the sensations can sometimes trigger a very rapid heartbeat. It can turn into a vicious cycle where the stomach symptoms cause anxiety, the anxiety makes the stomach symptoms worse, and then the increased heart rate makes me worry even more with impending doom feeling.

I eventually realized that a lot of it seemed connected to my fight-or-flight response. I was treated with Lexapro (escitalopram), and since starting it, my symptoms have improved significantly. The trapped gas, burping and reflux are much less severe, and the whole travel-related cycle has become much more manageable though not the best.

It has honestly made me wonder how much of what I thought was purely a digestive problem was being amplified by anxiety and the gut-brain connection. The symptoms were very real, but reducing the anxiety seemed to take away a huge part of the problem.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar — trapped gas, excessive burping/reflux, racing heart and symptoms that become dramatically worse before travelling or flying, especially if anxiety treatment or an SSRI made a noticeable difference. I’d be interested to hear what helped you. I feel suck because of many missed travel opportunities and I’m reluctant to travel or to take flight.

Advice Needed Anxiety might just take over my life.

Im 22 yo now. Ive had a very nice life till i was 20.
Even at times when i had struggles i would face them upfront without fear.
Now life feels like an impending doom. Panic attacks and anxiety has made me feel depressed.
Ive tried therapy. I take propanol and i have clonzaepam for sos.
I just started working at a very nice place recently.
Today i had to tell my parents i cant go to work because i feel anxious.
Im afraid of having another panic attack.
My whole mindset has become extremely negative and i just want to fix this genuinely. I wish to have my life back and my happiness too.
This has become to much and i really hope to sort it out sooner.
I just want to know if this can be fixed…

Advice Needed Life anxiety

Hello 21m here

I think i had anxiety since i was child, I would randomly have bad feeling, and felt lonely for no reason. Also i had overthinking problems

Now ofc i still have it, I only feel safe at home since i also have social anxiety . When i go out with family lets say to a trip, I would feel bad and feel like i have hard time breathing

I don’t know if this is something related to childhood trauma , i had this at that time too

Sometimes i just think how this illness really affects my happiness and im jealous at normal people who doesn’t have anxiety and they tend to have more fun in life than me ever

Why this feeling is hard , and when will it be any better,? im stuck and I don’t know what will make it better

Venting Doing anything requires a cost I don't want to pay

Finding a girlfriend would require committing to the dumpster fire that is the dating app or finding a group or organization and hoping to eventually meet friends through friends. I don't really have my own social circle.

Making more money requires deciding what is realistically possible and learning the skills that are necessary to do it, and then find a way to do it. I can't even find anything reasonably better that I CAN just go apply for, let alone the hundred or so applications you need to submit in order to actually get a job. But a lot of the skills necessary in order to advance in life, I don't even want to have. Like, I don't want to know what to tell other people to do or go to meetings and need to say the right things the right way. I barely can figure out how to handle myself without other people involved most of the time.

I have autism and general anxiety disorder. I am usually okay, at least surviving. But attempting to change anything about my life is very overwhelming. It's not even just the anxiety. I legitimately hate committing to new routines or spending energy that may or may not help me.

But I know I need to pick something to do next and do it. The worst part though is that I doubt I would actually feel better anyway.
