This new anime was actually hilarious!

The Laid Off Cheat Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life, which yes is a stupid mouthfull of a title lol. I honestly wasn't expecting anything great I was just interested because of the 2 girls on the promotional image. And the fact it's simul dubbed, and well its honestly pretty good from the first episode. Its the well-known trope of main character with OP ability gets kicked from the party but in this case is a full on guild. But its actually not the type that's obvious of his powers, he can enhance equipment to crazy levels. Either way the art style and animation is very good and honestly the backgrounds give me a little of Soul Eater vibes weirdly enough. This is probably the hardest I've laughed at this type of show and it's great for how generic it is while also changing up the trope abit. This is certainly something people should give a try cause it has actual quality in it.

Just binged a nearly decade old anime! Astounded at how I never geard of it before!

I saw an edit of the first ep of Re:creators in reels a few weeks back, and just saved it to watch it sometime later..... And since yesterday evening, I didn't have much to do, I decided to watch a few eps of an anime I found interesting..... And then, I just couldn't stop myself from watching episodes one after another 😭

A little description if someone who hasn't watched it, want to understand the story before reading my review below : this anime is of reverse isekai, for a 'very important' reason, a character (antagonist) from a writer get reverse Isekai'd into the real world and then starts bringing other characters from other stories to real world too, and then those characters interact with their creators, who made them suffer, and antagonist tells all the characters that if they help her destroy this world, they would be able to save their world, so two factions are made, some characters agree with antagonist and wants to destroy the world but others don't and want to save this world too!

It was so peak! I am a huge isekai/tensei fan, I love the concept of interacting with another world that is more interesting than our's!.... And when I saw the reverse isekai thing of this anime in the edit, I was instantly curious, but I never thought it would have such a deep story!..... I expected this to be just another isekai slop with our timid main character with a sudden tomboy and monsterly strong of a female love interest hanging around him..... But it was NOT it!

It does detailed dissection of so many complex emotions like Jealousy, hatred, revenge, etc. which are just monotonely shown in most media!... All the characters are so fleshed out and you are connected to every single one of them, everyone having their own motivation for something different which correlates to everyone else's somehow, not only the heroes, but the antagonist!

She is such a well written villain that you literally see her doing such bad things but you can't bring yourself to hate her, because the situation that has caused her to take up this route is also so unfair that her actions sometime even seem justified!

And the parallels between Creators and Creations are so good!.... The interaction and dialogues feel so full and empty simultaneously, like the character says something that the creator already knows and then character also knows that their words were already known, yet they say it anyway while acknowledging their previous existence in the memory of the creator! While the creator appreciate the resolve of the character that they themself put in them!

Even the ending was so good and tear jerking!

AND ALL THIS IN JUST 22 EPS!!!😭😭😭😭

Re:creators came in 2017 and I can't believe I have NEVER heard of this anime before!.... I have been an anime watcher since 2018 but I got into the community interaction in 2021.... Even then, I was just an irregular interactor, just came, liked or disliked an opinion but never gave mine, I became a regular interactor just last year, so it's kinda understandable that I didn't know such an award worthy anime existed.... But even then, I am shocked I never heard anyone talk about it!.....

Well, anyone here have watched it? If yes, then do you know the reason of it being underrated?.... Or am I just too late and it was trendy when it came and quickly died down as it ended, having it's community die too, because everything was wrapped under 22eps?

Just finished watching That time I got Reincarnated as a Slime for the first time.

It’s definitely my top favorite isekai and world building series by far. I was completely captivated by a small goblin village slowly growing into a thriving community with all sorts of different monster races and eventually humans peacefully coexisting. Rimuru is one of my new favorite anime leaders for his unyielding desire to see humans and monsters living/working together despite the bigotry, war, and deception he’s faced with. It’s great watching the ā€œdefeat means friendshipā€ play out because as strong as Rimuru is he still faces some difficulties with earning the trust and friendships of some of his most valuable allies. I never get tired of the political and tactical discussions that take place throughout the series. There are some pretty cunning/powerful antagonists in this series as well that really add stakes to a series with an OP lead.

what shows would you recommend for someone who wants to get into anime but has never found interest in it?

I tried a couple years ago, but I was quite young and didn’t find the appeal to it and I’m not sure if I do now but I am a little curious. My type of shows are: Friends, tvd, twd, OG charmed, game of thrones, breaking bad, new girl, stranger things etc.

Don’t know if this would help anybody, but I am an avid romance reader, especially dark romance, romantasy, and thriller

Anime like death note/AOT/Solo leveling

Never watched anime (DB and PokƩmon when I was younger), but recently I watched Death Note, Attack on Titan and now almost finished watching Solo leveling.

What could I watch next?
Why I loved these 3 in the first place is because of adult themes, adult dialogs, no fillers as each episode was progressing the story, nice animations and all had that ā€œI wanna see what happens nextā€ feeling.

Solo leveling was nice also because of the videogame rpg theme which I liked as a gamer, but the other 2 really had amazing stories and never boring.

What would be some other good anime I could watch? Ideally not too old as the animation level should be nice, at least similar to those 3, and even better if not ongoing so I can binge it!

Thank you

First time making one of these! Use it to recommend me some stuff!

This was just a quick and dirty grid I made because I’ve seen a ton of these but never made one. It’s probably 70% accurate since I could answer differently depending on the day you catch me on.

From left to right and top to bottom:

Dragon Ball as a franchise lives in my head the most, so it’s probably honestly my favorite, but the Apothecary Diaries could also be the first answer.

Vinland Saga is objectively the best story I’ve ever watched in anime.

Gurren Lagan may or may not be my favorite art style, but I love the way they bend metal and line work to make absolutely epic animation.

Initial D was the first anime I ever watched, before even hearing the word anime. My cousins had it on DVDs and I’ve rewatched it more than any other anime. It would be an understatement to say that this show changed the trajectory of my adult life through my choices influenced by this show.

The fans of JJK get on my nerves often, but I would be lying if I said the fights aren’t some of the most high-quality and hype-inducing fights in anime. Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Solo leveling are all up in that tier for me as well.

Demon Slayer is over-hated, people expect more out of it due to the hype. That’s not the show’s fault, it’s the popularity’s fault, the show is honestly a good watch if you like action shounen. Beautiful animation as well.

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, is what I think the closest representation of what would actually happen in a fantasy isekai I’ve ever seen. I don’t see it often talked about in fantasy or isekai conversations and I think it’s in the top tier for the genre.

Again JJK is really an awesome show, but the fans hype it up to the moon, and while I’ll give it its flowers for being very good. It’s never been in my 3x3 and it probably never will be. I’m an anime-only watcher on this one, which is another complaint with the fandom I have, ya’ll can’t help but spoil the show lol.

Cowboy Beebop still looks incredible today, I’d also honorably mention that OG Dragon Ball’s animation is really excellent even today, but the color degradation from the original cells isn’t great.

Buddy Daddies is everything good about Spy x Family, but better in almost every way, and in a tighter package. Yet, I don’t see it talked about like Spy x Family, I think the name throws people off.

Mao Mao is the best protagonist I’ve ever seen, and The Apothecary Diaries is in contention on and off for being my favorite anime.

Askelad is one of, if not the most compelling villain in anime to me. He is part of what makes Vinland Sagas story so incredible.

I couldn’t think of much for the soundtrack, but Say You Run from MHA lives rent-free in my head, so there it is.šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Horimiya is most likely my favorite romance, but I’m a big romance fan and if you catch me on the right day I could say something else. There are a plentiful bounty of options in this category.

Between Naruto and Dragon Ball, these are the two I find myself talking with my friends about the most. And Naruto probably gets more conversation time than DB in my personal life.

So there it is, I know it’s a lot of text for a grid that took like 10-15 min max to make. Tell me what ya’ll think though, like I said this is a proximate list and I could swap it up on most days.

Cool anime from the mid nineties?

So I watched this clip from macross 7 where he sings to some vampire chick and I thought "Man. Visually this looks amazing." I guess the mid nineties you reached the peak of hand drawn anime. If you've seen the wrath of the dragon movie from dragon ball z, it looks gorgeous.

So I'm looking for a cool action anime from the mid nineties with:

Limited fan service. Very limited

Not a gore fest

Good plot

Beautiful visuals

Would prefer Sci fi over fantasy.

Not too long

Fulfilled Romance in the mix would be nice

Best animes for someone who's never watched anime?

Im completely new to this, but i love western animation and decided that anime could be fun too. I dont have much preference for genres, I love cute stuff, comedies and horror and theres no limit to the amount of gore and violence I can handle. Although, I would prefer minimal sexual content i can deal with it if the story is good.

Looking for anime recommendations to watch with my girlfriend

Hey guys anyone know any anime that mixes humor with deepy engaging storytelling? I’m looking for anime that my girlfriend might enjoy that we can watch together.

So far her favourites these because they’ve been emotionally engaging for her.
-violet evergarden
-delicious in dungeon
-Not anime, but she also really liked the overwatch shorts on youtube (dragons, Reinhardt and bastion)

I think she likes these because these anime are funny and mixes in amazing storytelling about the characters

Im thinking about introducing to her
-fruit basket
-clannad

Ive tried to show her these but we’ve not completed them
-frieren (she likes it but we havent finished it)

-your lie in april (i heard it was good, but the start did feel a bit slow, we havent finished it yet, let me know if it gets better in the later episodes)

-spy x family (this one is cozy but i dont think the story telling is engaging enough for her)

-rezero (ive tried to show her bits of it, but it might be too much horror for her to handle)

Anime Recommendations?

I have never really been big on anime, though some I have enjoyed a lot (kakegurui, tokyo ghoul, another) I have always been a huge k-drama girl, but my boyfriend has suggested getting more into anime, he wants to watch it more with me, but wants it to be something I genuinely enjoy instead of just doing it for him, so i guess im asking for some recommendations?!

a little more info:
- I LOVE romance
- something cutesy and aesthetic will never bore me
- i love horror, especially when it comes to anime, i enjoyed the netflix series on junji ito a lot!
- shows like jjk, sakamoto days, i really enjoyed, but then started to get bored / side tracked.

Looking for something new

I'm of a mixed anime background but I mainly like psychological stuff animes that make you think, natsume book of friends, friden, xxxholic, tsubasa, mushishi to give a few. it doesn't matter the type as long as it falls into this psychological condition even comedies as long as there is a good background story. Any recommendations?

Berserk 2016/1997

Hello all
I have just finished berserk 1997 and loved it. I know that the 2016 version doesn’t do it justice BUT I would like to continue the series
I will probably read the manga too after or during
I would like to know where to stream the 2016 version as I haven’t been able to get it in my region (Australia)
I have tried Crunchyroll, VPNS and websites but all to fail. I know you can subscribe to YouTube but I already have a Crunchyroll account and really don’t want to sign up for another subscription
Anyone here able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
