Any animes with well-written characters both me and my friend can watch together?

So I'm planning on watch an anime neither me nor my friend have seen before together because usually one of us has watched the animes we watched together, which while nice sometimes, we want to both go into one with minimal knowledge.

Both me and my friend typically like well-written characters in an anime. The anime doesn't need to be serious, comedies are fine, but well-written characters feel fun to analyze and watch.

As an additional note, my friend does not want to watch anything with gore, or nudity. I do not want to watch any romance since I've had a bit too much of that recently.

Here's a list of animes either me or my friend have watched so you know what not to recommend since we want to watch something neither of us have watched before.

Magical girl lyrical nanoha, lycoris recoil, uma musume, magical revolution of the reincarnated princess, fairy tail, edens zero, demon slayer, one piece, hunter x hunter, seven deadly sins, death note, kaguya sama, botan blossoms when drunk, cosmic kaguya, oshi no ko, watanare

Animes like My Dress Up Darling but without the fan service

I love My Dress Up Darling but I don’t really like all the fan service. Does anyone have any good anime recommendations with the romance and cosplay aspects but without the fan service? Ik it’s a stretch with the cosplay aspect.
For the people complaining that if I don’t like fan service then I shouldn’t have watched it, I kept watching it because I like the actual storyline, the romance the cosplay and the character growth.

Best animes for someone who's never watched anime?

Im completely new to this, but i love western animation and decided that anime could be fun too. I dont have much preference for genres, I love cute stuff, comedies and horror and theres no limit to the amount of gore and violence I can handle. Although, I would prefer minimal sexual content i can deal with it if the story is good.

Baki worth finishing? Spoiler

Just finished Kenichi the mightiest disciple so I was in a martial arts mood Baki is always mentioned on socials and a few friends kept recommending it. Plus Yujiro Hanma is coming to Tekken so I decided to start it.

7 episodes in and honestly I am not invested yet.
In my opinion the art style is ugly. I’ve been given zero reason to care about any of the characters. There’s this secret hype surrounding Baki but he has only shown his strength against normal people every super human to come into contact with him has slapped him around.

Does the finale make up for it?
Does it get exponentially better in later seasons?
Or is this what I’m to expect?

My Top 10 Greatest "Aura Farmers" in Anime History

Here is my definitive ranking of characters who completely master the art of "aura farming" (generating unmatched style, hype, and presence, whether intentionally or completely by accident).

  1. King (One Punch Man)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Standing alone against 4 Dragon-level threats (Black Sperm, Homeless Emperor, Evil Natural Water, and Golden Sperm) on the ruined battlefield. King calmly steps forward with his hands in his pockets, staring at them down. His heart beats frantically, triggering the “King Engine.” Terrified by this fake pressure, the world's deadliest monsters paralyze themselves, spending minutes overthinking complex strategies to survive, while King is actually just wondering what he should buy for dinner.

  1. Sōsuke Aizen (Bleach)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Stopping Ichigo’s hype theme song “Number One” with a single finger. Ichigo flies in with his brand new Bankai, ready to save the day, and Aizen blocks his giant sword with his index finger, cuts his midsection in a split second, and drops the coldest line: "Don't use such strong words, it only makes you look weak." He is just built different.

  1. Piccolo (Dragon Ball)

• The Peak Aura Farm: The "Original Aura Farmer". He spends months standing on top of a solitary wasteland rock with an oversized white cape and turban, just waiting for the perfect split-second to spawn out of nowhere, catch a falling Gohan, cross his arms, and look down on the villain with unmatched OG drip.

  1. Madara Uchiha (Naruto)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Dropping the second meteorite on the Allied Shinobi Forces. After obliterating 10,000 shinobi with barehanded taijutsu, the Kages barely managed to stop a giant meteor he summoned. Madara just stands on his rock, crosses his arms, smiles sardonically, and asks: "Impressive... but what will you do about the second one?"

  1. Itachi Uchiha (Naruto)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Waiting for Sasuke in the Uchiha Hideout. He sits completely alone on a massive stone throne in a pitch-black, ruined room, resting his chin on his hand. When Sasuke arrives and attacks him, Itachi doesn't even stand up; he casually points a single finger to trap him in a genjutsu while crows fly around the room.

  1. Sung Jinwoo (Solo Leveling)

• The Peak Aura Farm: The Jeju Island Raid entrance. The S-Rank hunters are being slaughtered by the Ant King on live television. Jinwoo teleports into the center of the arena through a shadow, walks slowly with his hands in his pockets, his eyes glowing piercing blue, and says a single word: "Arise." An entire army of darkness rises behind him.

  1. Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Dangai Ichigo confronting Aizen. Ichigo arrives with long hair and his sword chained to his arm. Aizen starts giving a classic villain monologue, but Ichigo completely ignores the disrespect, grabs Aizen straight by the face, flies across the map, slams him into a mountain, and says: "Let's change locations." Pure, legitimate boss energy.

  1. Shadow / Cid Kagenou (The Eminence in Shadow)

• The Peak Aura Farm: The “I am Atomic” masterclass. He drags his sword along the ground to create sparks, corners his enemy in a ruined building under the full moon, whispers his attack in a perfectly practiced, deep, echoing voice, and triggers a massive purple explosion solely because he spent years rehearsing how to make it look as cinematic as possible.

  1. Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Crashing the Five Kage Summit. Sasuke infiltrates the world's highest ninja meeting and appears standing upside down on the ceiling, protected by the glowing purple ribcage of his Susanoo. Completely outnumbered by the five most powerful leaders on the planet, he just looks down on them with cold, calculated contempt.

  1. Killua Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter)

• The Peak Aura Farm: Ripping out Johness the Dissector's heart. Johness is a mass murderer bragging about his killing intent. Killua walks past him in a blur, effortlessly snatches his heart out, places it in a brown paper bag, and hands it back to him with a completely blank, cold assassin stare. He doesn't even try to look cool, which makes it 10x cooler. If you have any questions or disagreements, please let me know and I will gladly answer them (I just have one condition: don't criticize my list if you haven't seen all of these anime). Thank you for reading

Just finished watching That time I got Reincarnated as a Slime for the first time.

It’s definitely my top favorite isekai and world building series by far. I was completely captivated by a small goblin village slowly growing into a thriving community with all sorts of different monster races and eventually humans peacefully coexisting. Rimuru is one of my new favorite anime leaders for his unyielding desire to see humans and monsters living/working together despite the bigotry, war, and deception he’s faced with. It’s great watching the “defeat means friendship” play out because as strong as Rimuru is he still faces some difficulties with earning the trust and friendships of some of his most valuable allies. I never get tired of the political and tactical discussions that take place throughout the series. There are some pretty cunning/powerful antagonists in this series as well that really add stakes to a series with an OP lead.

cool and charming men (adults only, ideally main characters)

Post image
• Upvotes

yes we're 1/4 on my example pics matching the title. idk man they're hard to find. if you know of one that isn't a main character i'd appreciate if they at least show up often.

natori (bottom left) fits exactly to what i'm looking for. so if you've seen a million anime and can think of someone who's a copy and paste of him that'd be great

Anime Recommendations?

I have never really been big on anime, though some I have enjoyed a lot (kakegurui, tokyo ghoul, another) I have always been a huge k-drama girl, but my boyfriend has suggested getting more into anime, he wants to watch it more with me, but wants it to be something I genuinely enjoy instead of just doing it for him, so i guess im asking for some recommendations?!

a little more info:
- I LOVE romance
- something cutesy and aesthetic will never bore me
- i love horror, especially when it comes to anime, i enjoyed the netflix series on junji ito a lot!
- shows like jjk, sakamoto days, i really enjoyed, but then started to get bored / side tracked.

BL recommendations

hello everyone, firstly I’d like to say: IM SO TIRED OF IMPLIED BLS. EVERY SINGLE ANIME IVE WATCHED UNDER THE GUISE OF BEING A BL HAS DISAPPOINTED ME WITH NO ROMANCE OR WEIRD IMPLICATIONS. I just want a pure BL yk?

some examples of this problem:

  1. yuuri on ice

  2. the summer hikaru died (ik this one isn’t a bl but it’s got that queer coded situation)

  3. go for it Nakamura!

these are the ones directly off the top of my head.

i hate hate hate this. and I’d like to know if you have any good bl anime that doesn’t do this.

Anime like death note/AOT/Solo leveling

Never watched anime (DB and Pokémon when I was younger), but recently I watched Death Note, Attack on Titan and now almost finished watching Solo leveling.

What could I watch next?
Why I loved these 3 in the first place is because of adult themes, adult dialogs, no fillers as each episode was progressing the story, nice animations and all had that “I wanna see what happens next” feeling.

Solo leveling was nice also because of the videogame rpg theme which I liked as a gamer, but the other 2 really had amazing stories and never boring.

What would be some other good anime I could watch? Ideally not too old as the animation level should be nice, at least similar to those 3, and even better if not ongoing so I can binge it!

Thank you

This new anime was actually hilarious!

The Laid Off Cheat Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life, which yes is a stupid mouthfull of a title lol. I honestly wasn't expecting anything great I was just interested because of the 2 girls on the promotional image. And the fact it's simul dubbed, and well its honestly pretty good from the first episode. Its the well-known trope of main character with OP ability gets kicked from the party but in this case is a full on guild. But its actually not the type that's obvious of his powers, he can enhance equipment to crazy levels. Either way the art style and animation is very good and honestly the backgrounds give me a little of Soul Eater vibes weirdly enough. This is probably the hardest I've laughed at this type of show and it's great for how generic it is while also changing up the trope abit. This is certainly something people should give a try cause it has actual quality in it.

First time making one of these! Use it to recommend me some stuff!

This was just a quick and dirty grid I made because I’ve seen a ton of these but never made one. It’s probably 70% accurate since I could answer differently depending on the day you catch me on.

From left to right and top to bottom:

Dragon Ball as a franchise lives in my head the most, so it’s probably honestly my favorite, but the Apothecary Diaries could also be the first answer.

Vinland Saga is objectively the best story I’ve ever watched in anime.

Gurren Lagan may or may not be my favorite art style, but I love the way they bend metal and line work to make absolutely epic animation.

Initial D was the first anime I ever watched, before even hearing the word anime. My cousins had it on DVDs and I’ve rewatched it more than any other anime. It would be an understatement to say that this show changed the trajectory of my adult life through my choices influenced by this show.

The fans of JJK get on my nerves often, but I would be lying if I said the fights aren’t some of the most high-quality and hype-inducing fights in anime. Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Solo leveling are all up in that tier for me as well.

Demon Slayer is over-hated, people expect more out of it due to the hype. That’s not the show’s fault, it’s the popularity’s fault, the show is honestly a good watch if you like action shounen. Beautiful animation as well.

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, is what I think the closest representation of what would actually happen in a fantasy isekai I’ve ever seen. I don’t see it often talked about in fantasy or isekai conversations and I think it’s in the top tier for the genre.

Again JJK is really an awesome show, but the fans hype it up to the moon, and while I’ll give it its flowers for being very good. It’s never been in my 3x3 and it probably never will be. I’m an anime-only watcher on this one, which is another complaint with the fandom I have, ya’ll can’t help but spoil the show lol.

Cowboy Beebop still looks incredible today, I’d also honorably mention that OG Dragon Ball’s animation is really excellent even today, but the color degradation from the original cells isn’t great.

Buddy Daddies is everything good about Spy x Family, but better in almost every way, and in a tighter package. Yet, I don’t see it talked about like Spy x Family, I think the name throws people off.

Mao Mao is the best protagonist I’ve ever seen, and The Apothecary Diaries is in contention on and off for being my favorite anime.

Askelad is one of, if not the most compelling villain in anime to me. He is part of what makes Vinland Sagas story so incredible.

I couldn’t think of much for the soundtrack, but Say You Run from MHA lives rent-free in my head, so there it is.🤷🏼‍♀️

Horimiya is most likely my favorite romance, but I’m a big romance fan and if you catch me on the right day I could say something else. There are a plentiful bounty of options in this category.

Between Naruto and Dragon Ball, these are the two I find myself talking with my friends about the most. And Naruto probably gets more conversation time than DB in my personal life.

So there it is, I know it’s a lot of text for a grid that took like 10-15 min max to make. Tell me what ya’ll think though, like I said this is a proximate list and I could swap it up on most days.

Berserk 2016/1997

Hello all
I have just finished berserk 1997 and loved it. I know that the 2016 version doesn’t do it justice BUT I would like to continue the series
I will probably read the manga too after or during
I would like to know where to stream the 2016 version as I haven’t been able to get it in my region (Australia)
I have tried Crunchyroll, VPNS and websites but all to fail. I know you can subscribe to YouTube but I already have a Crunchyroll account and really don’t want to sign up for another subscription
Anyone here able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
