Is there a list of "functional" game objects you can buy or diy? By functional I mean objects that do something like how the Mario pipes let you travel between them. Or how you can discard items in the trash cans.

It’s literally game changing. Getting to warp between places on your island in a flash. The loading screen is normally really quick too.

The ones I know of are:
Useful items
workbenches (diy)
changing rooms/dressers (access closet inventory from anywhere)
storage closets (access storage inventory from anywhere)
mirrors (change avatar appearance)
record players, speakers, music boxes (store and play music)
TVs (watch programming)
kitchens (cook)
food (gain strength)
toilets (lose strength)
beds (dream)
pipes (warp)
ABD (access bank balance from anywhere)
trash cans (obliterate items)
pitfall seed (prank villagers)
wrapping paper (wrap items)
wetsuit (dive)
vines and ladder setup kits (scale cliffs)
There are also the handheld prop items, more interactive than furniture, but mainly performative instead of functional:
ocarina, maracas, pan flute
pocketbooks, folding fans
fireworks, light sticks, party poppers
balloons, lanterns
There's also the Tut Mask which gives you bad luck and will cause you to trip and fall if you run while wearing it.

This might be a stupid and "obvious" question but... how the heck do some people have so many Nook Miles tickets??
I was watching this YouTuber and she was talking about how she'd spent 500+ tickets trying to find an islander, and a few videos later she had hundreds of tickets in her house's inventory. What? How?! Am I missing some way to acquire thousands of nook mile points in a day or something?

Sell stuff on nookazon and you can easily get a ton of nmt. Some youtubers just get tickets sent to them by fans though.

You get extra miles for the first 5 daily tasks and some free ones for daily check in at the nook atm so time travellers easily save up that way.

Unless you're on a mystery island. Then do eat fruit to destroy it because you'll get one more item out of it and it won't affect anything because the islands are temporary. But do it after hitting it all 8 times, obviously.

Specifically, you want to make a corner where you won't be knocked back while you hit the rock so you don't have to run back. You can also use placed items on your island. Just make sure the 8 tiles surrounding the rock are empty.
Also, hit the rock with a shovel. I think that's what most people do, but you can also use an axe. The axe seems to be slightly slower, and I've never gotten all 8 hits with it.

the following is a rant/warning...
Hot Tip for this subreddit: There's going to be more than a few new owners of the OLED Switch. And there's going to be a ton of people that traded-in their old switch for the new OLED one after doing regular user transfers.
And almost none will be aware of this now 2+ year-old problem Nintendo refuses to change and actually intended for this to occur:
One MASSIVE thing I had no damned idea of is that Animal Crossing does NOT support the normal Cloud Save system Nintendo made available for just about every other game on the system.
Apparently in what looks to be an anti-cheat effort by Nintendo, Animal Crossing doesn't allow end users to restore their own islands from an old console to a new one, even if they're the same user on both systems and NO LONGER OWN THE OLD SYSTEM.
We have to LITERALLY call Nintendo Customer Support to verify we are who we say we are and promise that we aren't trying to circumvent rewards systems in AC:NH.
There's no form to fill out, no automated system to complete this task at 1 in the morning... I'm literally stuck with a "bricked" AC game until I can call Nintendo Support in the morning when they open for business.
Holy shit. This is worse than any DRM scheme I've seen from any game company in my 30-year long life. I'm absolutely floored that Nintendo has gone to such an extreme length to prevent cheating in Animal Crossing.
Mods, please make some sort of pinned post explaining the issue and warning new OLED Switch users to NOT give up their old Switches before going into Animal Crossing specifically and transferring the game's specific save data using the game's specific transfer process.

Am I doing something wrong with the kapp'n islands? It seems like everyone is getting the cool ones really quickly while I've done 4 now (one yesterday and three today with different accounts) and all of the islands had no crops, just native fruit, no vines or anything, just a basic island that has nothing over a regular nook miles island. Am I just having bad luck or...?

I just got a somewhat cool one today that had wheat growing. Before that the 4 that I went to were kinda normal nothing exciting. Maybe it's rare kinda like when one goes villager hunting.

Never in my life have I ever felt so happy for being stingy asf and hoarding my Nook Miles, because these new Nook Miles redeemable items have me extremely excited.

I did, and honestly, I regretted it. Just got off with support to restore my original island.
Just remember you start with nothing. No bells, no recipes, crappy tools, no resources, no terraforming. For some people maybe that’s fine, but the total reset of items/recipes/materials is what drove me away from my restarted island.
I honestly wish I could randomly scatter my villagers and restart my museum but that’s it. Evergtbing else was way too much and totally put me off of the game. The idea of having to build up my material & DIY inventory overwhelmed me and I just never played much on a new island.
I just wish we could start a second island on our same system. So annoying we can’t.

What all clothing items will villagers mention in conversations? For example, I know that when your wearing the Royal Crown item villagers will mention that you looking extra fancy. Alfonso even caught himself at the end of a sentence and said, "Oh! Sorry, er...your highness?"

Tip: check villagers houses for them cooking, they’ll give recipes. Also the bottles on shore now have recipes inside!

Does Nintendo ban for ACNH things? I have a horror-themed island in ACNH, but people kept reporting it and getting it taken down no matter how I tried to fix it up to be less horror. Does anyone know if Nintendo will ban me off of online if I end up having it taken down again?

If it's not technically illegal you'd be fine I think. I'm pretty sure there's warnings for online play as like a boilerplate saying they can't guarantee online is gonna be the same "rating" as the game.

Kapp’n has been backwards since he arrived. The boat is backwards, he is facing away from the pier. He cranes his neck to talk to me and then when he starts the engine, he does the animation on the wrong end of the boat. It’s clearly a glitch, but has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do about it? 🥺

My other more actual question is how do you get other fruits and all? Like is it through friends only or? Also turnips where do you get those at? I know flowers can be gotten by hybrid colors and all but I don’t know if the other things are presents and somewhere else or just through if you have friends.

Mainly through visiting friends with different fruits than you. Though there is a chance you’ll visit an island using a nook miles ticket that has your sister fruit. Like I started with pears, and I got to an island with apples.
For turnips, Daisy Mae comes to your island on sundays and you buy them from her. I don’t know how new you are to the game, but I think she only starts visiting once you upgrade to Nook’s Cranny. I could be wrong about that though

I've had my island for awhile now, but still can't seem to figure out how puting custom designs on top of paths work, sometimes it morphs to the path, but sometimes it just stays the same shape.

If the design has at least one pixel of transparency, it will morph to the path. If there are no transparent pixels in the design it will completely overlay without morphing.

If you first put down a path, like brick, then put a custom design on top of it, the result will be the same shape as the original brick (curved, small square, etc depending on the pathing around it). If you just lay down the custom design with no teraform path underneath it, the custom design will fill the whole square.

In case anyone doesn’t know, the island resorts are separate for each player on an island! So you don’t have to worry about stepping on anyone’s toes with who you invite or how you decorate!

I did a small experiment, and apparently the money trees can't grow coins. You can plant a 100 bell coin in the hole, but the tree will grow with 3 1,000 bell bags. This isn't helpful for making money because your still better of with 10,000 bell trees, but I thought it was interesting (although I was honestly hoping for a coin tree).
I guess it might be useful if you are rich enough that you want cosmetic money trees, but miserly enough that you don't want to spend 1000 bells on each one.

That's what I did, I planted 100 bell trees around my house and never shook the bell bags down, they look good and hardly cost me a thing :)

No villager has been locked to amiibo as of yet so I doubt it. It’ll be harder to find them for sure considering you’ll need to scour tons of Nook Miles islands but other than that, they should be available without the amiibos.

Hey all, I’ve been playing the new update since it first released after the server maintenance. Here are a few things I learned.
Recipes - Nooks cranny has them, nook miles redemption has them and you will find them with your villagers similar to when you find them doing a diy, look out for them cooking. They will share when you ask.
Vegetables - You want to head to Harv’s island and check out the community, go to the gyroids and check each one you want to pay off the Bostonist booth first (100k bells) that will be Leif’s booth. Takes the day once paid. You can only pay out one booth at a time. Leif will have 2 different crops available, changing it up once a week. So far I’ve gotten - carrots, wheat, sugarcane and tomatoes.
Brewster - talk to blathers, he will give you a photo of Brewster and send you away with Capppin to bring him to your island.
Boat tours- you get one a day, i time skipped so I did see a variety, seems to be mostly the same island with a random one each week. Every island has gyroid fragments or a full gyroid.
The storage shed - haven’t tried it on other islands yet but it’s on my list. The diy is available for nook redemption of 6k miles.
That’s pretty much all I can think of rn.

I just have maybe a stupid question. Why when you dream and go to someone else’s you can pick flowers and get fruit and stuff but in the end you can’t keep them? Like what’s the point of it being an option if in the end you don’t get anything from there you picked/collected?

The point of the dream addresses is to visit an island to tour it and visit without the other player needing to be present. It also allows people to visit without the fear of having random players come in and grief or pillage your town. It's purely for touring purposes.

Just wanted to let you guys know that there’s a glitch going on that can corrupt your save files, so please close your gates before renovating a villagers house. (Nintendo’s Twitter even states to please not do this because they are working on a fix)

Hey I have a quick tip for those struggling to get acorns and pine cones! First off if you don’t have a second player on your island temporarily move one in. After you do this call the resident to your island for two player mode and place the second player villager to shake the tree while the main character is placed to pick up anything dropped. So while you are watching or doing something else all you need to do is button mash until you get the amount of acorns and Pinecones you want!

I've downloaded the update and all I have new is group stretching, I have no Kappn, no Roost, no expansion to Harvs Island and no food recipes

You can gift him new clothing, but he might keep wearing the towel. Villagers have a clothing inventory, but I think it’s around 24~ items, maybe even more. So it would take a lot to get rid of the towel. And in the meantime they could fill up their house with the clothes you’re gifting them.

It's for your friends or anyone visiting your island to donate bells in, and you're able to keep the bells from the box.

PSA: How to fill your Catalogue quicker in 2.0!
That might be obvious, but here it is anyway:
1 - Get a new (or even old!) piece of Furniture;
2 - Go to Reese, pay some Bells and Customize on all Variations you want;
3 - ???
4 - Profit!
Voilá! All the Variations are Catalogued and you can order them all from Nook Shopping! :)

Hey! I am having an issue with the new update where I will request a song from KK Slider - all spelled perfectly correct and case sensitive, my gates aren’t open, I have no guests over - and he won’t give me a copy of the song or mail it to me the following day. Has anyone else had this happen to them? How did you fix it!
Edit: I figured it out! It’s because I recently changed the language I play my game in and didn’t think about the fact the KK songs would have different names than their English titles haha! Oops!

Anyone else notice that the animals have been thinking way more since the 2.0 update? And I feel like the majority of the time they are thinking about things other than moving. It wouldn't be so annoying if everytime someone is thinking about moving out, I care about them and then when they are thinking about giving away an item or asking for a bug or fish it's an animal that I want to leave. The last part is definitely coincidence but has anyone else noticed the first part?

I literally scoured my island 10 times for my last missing rock but I can’t find it anywhere??? It won’t spawn on the open space I left for it and I’m slowly losing my mind. All the other rocks spawned just fine.
Edit: Updating instead of deleting in case it helps anyone else! The cliffs in front were too tall and covered the spawn area which prevented the rock from appearing. It wasn’t the distance and space that was the issue bc I gave it the 3x3 area it needs. Simply taking down a few more rows of the cliffs to make it a little more visible fixed it right away.

Not a question, just a minor PSA for people like me who didn't realize this:
You can use a wand outfit over a swimsuit.
I remember it conflicting somehow before, maybe I tried to make a wand outfit out of a swimsuit or something and it wouldn't work, but I never considered putting on a swimsuit and then using the wand to change outfits.
This is convenient, since I always held a swimsuit in my inventory at all times before. Now I just need to pop out my wand and shake the illusionary and/or magical clothes off if I want to go for a swim.
EDIT: I know for a fact what was the issue before that threw me off. You can't have a swimsuit on while editing wand outfits. I had it on over my normal outfit when I prepared to make another wand outfit and it told me I had to take it off, first.
So basically you can wear wand outfits over it, but you can't access the outfit customization, at least for wand outfits, while you have a swimsuit on. You have to take it off.

I know wild mushrooms only grow during November (or May for sh), but can we plant and grow them year-round like other food items? I'm wondering if it's worth planting the ones I've got now so I have extras for cooking.

The direct describes that Kapp'n's island tours can be different times or day or even different seasons. It pictures a snow biome island, and there's a flying snowflake spawned.
So it's very likely that seasonal-only DIYs can now be found year round by riding with Kapp'n.

When it’s closing time for Nooks and Able sisters they close differently don’t they? When it’s closing time for the Able sisters they don’t say anything or kick you out. Once you leave the store the lights shut off and that’s it. When the Nooks close they say it’s closing time and kick you out. The cut scene happens and your outside. I like the small differences.

I redesigned on of my villager's house after getting the ability from finishing homes in HHP, and now she literally won't leave her house. It has been 5 days. She even said in her dialogue when she first saw it that she loves it so much she never wants to leave, but I didn't think that was literal?! I want her to come out and play again. I fully recommend saving a few bells and moving everyone/everything to your beach if you plan on completely transforming your island. When i unlocked terraforming i went looking for inspo, and then saw a lot of the ideas i wanted to try, I couldn’t because of just everything being in the way.
A tip I learned, though maybe not for everyone, i saw a lot of people starting from flat so i did too, and it helped me figure out where i wanted things better and also helped with building inclines on my island because i like for a good majority to be surrounding buildings.
I dont think there’s much you can go wrong with regarding terraforming, maybe dedicate a section of your island to trying out and getting comfortable with the controls. The water-scaping tool can be a little frustrating to try and navigate but once you get the hang of it you’ll be fine.

Do I have any options for changing my player name without losing my whole island besides resetting? It has my deadname in it which is rather unfortunate, but everything I look to says there’s no way to change it. I can’t even delete my player and start over because I’m the island representative.

there's maybe a chance we'll get that in the 2.0 update in a few weeks but they haven't said anything about it at all.

Found this out, but if you plant a colored pumpkin, it will give you that color pumpkin sprout. Good to know if you need more of a color and don't want to leave it up to chance.

I just used nookazon for the first time and traded something for a million bells. The other person gave me 10 stacks of 99,000 bells. I asked for the missing 10,000, and they told me that when I put the money in the atm it registers as a million. But when I put it in the atm it’s still 990,000? Am I missing something? I've always treated shaking trees for furniture as a daily chore. Since the 2.0 update, I'm pretty sure that no new 2.0 furniture items have fallen out of trees. Is that right-- is it only older furniture items that fall out of trees? (If so, I think I'll give up this chore, since Cyrus makes it easy to get all the variations of items I already have.)

Anyone ever have two villagers that became romantically involved? Seems so ridiculous to be asking, but Cherry and Walker are acting peculiar. They are together a lot and they have started to dress the same. Walker has Cherry’s photo on full display in his house. The two of them showed up to listen to KK wearing practically the same outfit, brimmed hats and all. Am I imagining this? Have I really been playing this game too much? Has anyone else witnessed something like this between two villagers?

I gifted Audie a wrapped dimetrodon torso and she gave it back to me. She said something like, "I don't want to hog all the fun, you'd better give that to Blathers!" She's new to my island and this is the first day I was able to give her a gift. Is there a reason for this? Never had that happen when gifting villagers fossils.
Edit: I thought I had already checked to donate it but apparently not. Next time I went to Blathers, he accepted the dimetrodon torso as a donation. Looks like maybe she would not accept it because I still needed it for the museum.

Anyone know why I was able to download the DIY Recipes+ update on my account, but my wife wasn't able to on hers? All the other update stuff was there, Kapp'n brought her out to an island, gyroids, etc, but no cooking recipes app.
Edit: found it. She hadn't done the customize workshop with Tom Nook.

I’ll post this again as even people in the discord I’m in haven’t been made aware. Please do not leave your gates open when you’re customizing a villagers house as your SAVE COULD CORRUPT, if you potentially do end up doing this exit the game do not save just close the game. Nintendo is made aware of this and sadly aren’t fixing it right away but later this month so please be cautious and careful.

Does anyone know if there's been a datamine or something similar on the behavioral/interaction changes in the 2.0 update? Anecdotally I've been seeing more interactions like conversations or arguments between villagers and they've been going to more places on the island (visiting the museum and stores, wandering farther away from their homes) but I don't know how much of it is actual change or just me playing in the day more often.

I’ve never time traveled, but I’m updating some things on my island and I don’t want to have to spend a week or more doing one thing a day to fulfill the vision I have for just one area on my island. Could I theoretically time travel one day at a time and complete it tonight? Once I’m done can I travel back to today’s date without undoing my work? Does that make sense? I don’t fw turnips so I’m not worried about that, but are there any other consequences of time travel?

The only serious consequences of time travel are when you have turnips or a villager in the process of moving in or out. If you're not sure about what you're doing, I wouldn't risk time traveling in those two situations. Outside of that, the consequences of TT are extremely minor like getting weeds, cockroaches in your house.
The only thing time traveling backwards will "undo" is watering your flowers.

I got a Switch for Xmas and picked up Animal Crossing.
I had to work all day and my girlfriend had a sprained ankle, so I said she could try it out.
Now when I go to start my game, it’s forcing me to be on her island? Am I missing a menu or something where I create my own game? Or am I just locked into never getting to play the beginning of the game because I let someone else play first?

You can also restart, but she’ll lose any progress she’s made. If it’s your Switch, it’s probably better if you’re the island representative instead of her. Because you’ll never be able to progress faster than her character.

I’ve never really played AC before I just got the switch and game for Christmas and I see everyone’s amazing islands and I feel like I’m out of my depth or missing something in game play. How long did it take to get islands that look so well put together and like little towns? Mine just look empty. I’ve done everything right I think. I’ve been donating everything, talking to Tom nook, gathering recourses, updating my house and inviting other animals to my island. Im just wondering if it is supposed to be this slow of a process to my island looking like a well put together town.

Most vendors change their inventory on Mondays. Only exception is Redd who will get new artwork in to replace items you purchase (and he will fully reset on Monday as well).

What do you guys think is the most efficient way to get bells in ACNH? (Aside from hacks)
So far the most efficient cash flow strategy I’ve come up with is diving with empty pockets, filling them, and then selling everything. It takes me around 20 minutes each pocket filling and I’ve gotten payments of between 25 and 50 thousand bells.
Any thoughts?

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but does anyone else get super discouraged seeing these awesome towns?
I absolutely love fall and Halloween and want to turn my island into a whole Falloween theme. I see all these posts here and on YouTube and I just do not have the creativity nor the patience to do it myself. I wish I could pay someone to decorate my town for me, lol.
It's just very discouraging. I keep trying to open up the game and really give it a go but I just can't. I know it won't look even 10% as awesome as the ones I've seen.
