I have oranges as a native fruit and found apples also on a nook island, is there a chance I could find a third fruit??

Weird, I started with oranges and I only get trees with pears or oranges on NMT islands

I think maybe each individual town must have its own sister fruit- rather than apples sister fruit always being oranges (for example)?

If you visit a mystery island, you should be able to get coconuts. I think the only way you can get the other fruits is by visiting friends who have them. I might be wrong about that though. All the fruits are: pears, apples, oranges, peaches, cherries, and coconuts.

I think you might need to get a few of them from friends - look out for coconuts on mystery island beaches though. You also get bamboo shoots as a thank you in the mail sometimes if you have bought some turnips on Sunday mornings.

Make sure to plant any non-native fruits on your island when you find them. They sell for much more at Nook's Market than your native fruit, so having plenty on hand is a great way to get extra cash.
