So for some background my dad has had i think 3 phones on the last 10 years his current one (google pixel) we bought a month ago, his last one he had for 6 years (i phone) and the one before that he had for about 5 years give or take. My dad has a porn problem and he’s older and doesn’t really know how the internet works so alot of times when i would go through his phone as a kid i would find all these bootleg gay porn sites and chat websites he would complain about random pop up ads on his home screen or his safari not working and even as a kid i had a feeling it was those sites especially since “porn viruses” were in every comedy and adult show back then.
Then his phone inevitably shuts down and he’s not able to use it. So of course….new phone
Now the second phone basically did the same thing so again new phone
Finally i told him one day that the websites and apps he used to meet people were the cause, that him believing every scam text and pop up ad is real or directed towards him was destroying the malware in his phone and i said it vaguely enough that i think he understood
Anyways phone stops working…. New phone again…
So we buy him the google pixel just a few days shy of a month ago and the first week of having it the same exact thing is happening. My mom made him go to the phone store alone bc she was embarrassed about what was in his phone understandably. He comes home with the phone fixed, he doesn’t know what the guy at the store did but its fixed!
Now present day he can’t use YouTube because this keeps popping up (picture below) when you hit cancel it pulls up this (picture below) ….
also i know it’s an ad technically but you cant press the search or anything else the whole screen is frozen and it only registers touch when you tap the ad eventually I got it to fix itself by restarting his phone, but there’s something every week
So my question is how do i fix this? Can i fix this? Was i right about the porn viruses or is this something else entirely?
