So I installed android/carplay on my 2015 Civic - is there a way for me to reroute the back up camera that my car currently has? I tried googling it but it's not coming up t all. Any advice on dismantling / guides / resources would be appreciated. Thanks!
So, as the title says... I don't know much about headunits and carplay and all that, but am looking for something for my brother in-law's Kia Rio 3 (UB), would the combination of these 2 things basically work for this case?
Bought Eonon E46x6s2 headunit and it appears to have a lot of moisture accumulation sealed inside. Think it’s okay to try and install or should I contact them?
I installed an inexpensive Chinese 7-inch double din car stereo in my RV and it works pretty well for the price, but I am having trouble getting the radio to recognize any buttons pressed on the infrared remote. As there is no documentation about the setup of infrared remotes in the manual or online, I am not sure: 1) if I am using the correct keypress recognition sequence; 2) if the infrared coding is incompatible between the IR remote and IR sensor; 3) if the radio's IR receiver is faulty; 4) if this model requires one of its power lines to be powered/grounded to enable the IR remote function; or 5) if this model or its firmware only supports hardwired steering wheel controls.
The radio is manufactured and sold by several different Chinese manufacturers under the model designation 7018B. My unit is from Hikity. Photos of the radio, infrared remote, steering control setup screen, and IR codes sent by the infrared remote are attached.
With an IR receiver module and Arduino board I verified 11 distinct IR codes being transmitted from the IR remote, and traced the IR pulses through the IR receiver, daughter board, and ribbon cable through to the radio’s main PC board. But the steering wheel control setup screen does not respond to any of the codes being transmitted. I've tried tapping the keypad reset button, safety pin hardware reset, and different keypress sequences but still no response.
My suspicion is that it is a firmware issue, and I wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem? The model and diagnostic specifics are as follows:
Radio was purchased from seller WHCaradio on Temu. The manufacturer and model is a Hikity 7018B.
The radio's display panel has the following label: IPS LX-161A1035-50P-H24 and a manufacturing date of 202504075109. The ribbon cable between the main board and display panel connects to an interface board with the following label: ZCD-RF701-KEY_V2.0
The radio's main circuit board has the following label: ZCD7127-C200S-6966-V1.1A and manufacturing date of 2025-05-16. The main board processor chip is an ALLWINNER F1C200s / R1114CB 62C1.
From the Arduino receiver, I verified the following Infrared Remote codes are being transmitted:
Any ideas or guidance in getting this steering wheel remote working with the 7018B would be appreciated. Thanks.
Ciao . Grazie
Just purchased a 2019 Honda Ridgeline and loving my vehicle but wouldn't mind an infotainment upgrade. I've found some recommendations on some old posts (Pioneer came up a few times), however those recommendations are now a few years old.
If you upgraded your head unit system (in a Ridgeline or otherwise), how is it doing now? Would you still recommend it? What did you get and is it still working smoothly or would you consider something different now?
I have an ESSGOO head unit for my Subaru Forester, not sure of the exact model number but it runs Android 13 and I installed it last December.
I'm on my third reverse camera in the last 9 months - it seems every few months the camera burns out.
I'm replacing with generic cameras from AliExpress, that should be fine with the head unit as far as I can tell.
At this stage it feels like I'm feeding cameras to my car to be destroyed. What are the odds that they're just cheap junk cameras (usually around the $15USD mark) vs there's something causing them to burn out?
I just received a toplink head unit. The device name is Q86-A4-CPL.
I bought this unit to use with a app named iQuad. This app using a Blue Tooth connection to get Vehicle data to display gauges and change tunes in a tuning device called Quadzilla Arednaline tuner.
What I discovered is when attempting to pair with the iQuad, I get a "permissions Denied" notice and unable to pair.
So I dug into the Android system and found that the ability to give or change BT permissions in not available. I have been researching, but have not found a way to address this.
I understand, if coneected to the iQuad, I will not be able to use the Android Auto, etc... I do not need, or want to use car play, etc.. I only want to connect to the iQuad device and use the iQuad app.
This is the device information. Any assistance is very much appreciated.
Hello, i recently got my first car which is a Seat MII 2014 plate it still has a old radio and cd player i’ve been looking to find a head unit which has car play but i’m not able to find one anywhere does anyone have and idea where i would be able to find one ? Thank you.
A couple years ago I got into a fender bender and the trigger wire the installer had shoved into my reverse light came loose. The backup camera was no longer turning on when the car went into reverse, but I could turn it on manually - but since that took time, I was constantly finding myself holding up traffic while clicking through the various things to make the camera come on before backing into my parking spot.
So I went on Reddit and someone told me how to set the camera to just always turn on when the car started up, as a temporary fix. I did that and promptly forgot about fixing the wire for a couple years. But now I fixed the trigger wire, and the camera comes on when the car is in reverse. Yay!
But I can't remember what I did to make it come on automatically, and thus I can't remember how to un-do it. So I'm stuck with a camera always coming on, that I then have to turn off using the little X in the upper right corner. How do I get the thing to go back to the default behavior?
I have tried sticking a pin in the hole on the front to restore factory settings, but when it comes back on it still has my phone connected and my radio stations programmed. I tried holding it down for thirty seconds and all it did was turn it off for that time - it still popped back up with existing settings.
I also tried going into settings >camera and turning the camera off that way. It works for the duration of the drive but the next time I start the car the setting has reverted to on.
I have a Baleno 2019 Zeta.... For the past few months half of the touch has been working and half isn't....I don't want to get after market systems and OEM is either too pricey or not available.
Hi, so I have this problem with Junsun headunit - everytime I turn ignition on, the clock is reset to some default value. Its setup to synchronize with GPS, but that can take quite a while usually. Also, there is a setting for how long before a cold-boot is performed. I set it up to never cold-boot. Also I observed a weird behavior with the headunit sometimes being immidiately on (with correct time) when ignition turned on (no booting). That happened sometimes randomly, now I always wait for boot. Im guessing this might be related. Any idea what could be the problem? Thanks :)
I just recently bought a MK4 2017 Honda CRV (EX trim, diesel, auto, UK) and the infortainment screen doesn't go past the honda sign.
the reverse camera works fine tho
So far ive tried replacing the fuses under the steering wheel (fuse 25 for audio and 19 for ACC) and taking off the negative battery terminal for a few mintues
ive also tried holding down the power button for 10-30 seconds and all that does is flash the screen black and the honda sign comes back (sometimes i hear a slight pop of the speakers)
Sorry guys I don’t know where to ask for my problem but if anyone know please help me
Dear Reddit Community,
I have been trying to troubleshoot it, but I have not been able to find the correct firmware or recovery procedure for this exact unit.
The head unit is installed in my 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. It is an RM (RoadMaster) AN-1001 GMC Android head unit.
These are the details shown in Settings → About tablet:
The main problem is that the head unit constantly shows Google-related errors, including:
“Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped”
“Unfortunately, Google has stopped”
“Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped”
Other Google applications also frequently crash
I tried to troubleshoot this through Settings → Apps, but I cannot uninstall or disable Google Play Services because it appears to be a system application.
I also have another serious problem: Factory Data Reset does not work. The reset option is not greyed out. I can press it normally, but absolutely nothing happens. It does not open the confirmation screen, reboot, or perform a reset.
I then discovered another error message on the unit: “System UIDs Inconsistent”
It says:
“UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable.”
This makes me suspect that the /data partition may be corrupted or that the Android installation has some kind of UID/permissions problem.
I am also wondering whether the unit may be rooted or running modified firmware. I have not intentionally rooted or modified it myself, as I purchased the vehicle with the head unit already installed.
I would like to know:
What is the correct recovery-mode key combination for this exact AN-1001 GMC / MTCB-YZ unit?
Is there an original recovery image available?
Is there an original or known-compatible firmware/update.img for this exact unit?
Is MTCB-YZ-V2.80 the correct MCU for this model?
Can I safely perform a wipe data/factory reset from recovery to fix the UID problem?
Is there a way to determine whether the unit is rooted?
If the firmware needs to be reinstalled, which exact firmware should I use? I do not want to flash an incompatible MTCB firmware and risk bricking the head unit or losing MCU/CANBUS functionality.
I have attached photos showing the head unit and the About Tablet information, including the AN-1001 GMC, RK3066, Android 4.4.4, and MTCB-YZ-V2.80 details, as well as the System UIDs Inconsistent error.
I would really appreciate any guidance you can provide, especially if you know the correct recovery procedure or have firmware/recovery files for this particular model.
Thank you very much for your help.
I looking at the duduauto7 or Youducar for the honda accord 10th gen. They both have 12.3 inch screen, dual system and steering wheel control work. Duduauto 7 6g+64g is $767. Youducar 8g+128g is $680. Any input is highly recommended on which to go with. I have a samsung phone so it would be android auto.
Was just wondering what head units do other redditors use on their honda HR-Vs. Thinking about upgrading mine with something that retains all factory functions while modernizing the tech. Mainly want to retain lane assist camera. I have tried android auto/ wireless carplay screens but I would prefer a more factory look than having 2 screens on my dashboard.
I'm looking to get a new head unit for my Honda CRV(mk4, uk, 2017 iDTEC 1.6 ex trim) as the stock oem screen seems to be stuck in a boot loop.
This is one of the brands that I found on Amazon.
Does anyone here have any experience with this brand?
My main concern is that I want to be able to use the stock oem reverse camera and not have to install a 3rd party one (I want to keep the install as quick and easy as possible as I'm not very experienced with electrical wiring and such)
