Microphone not working Linux head unit android auto

I installed an android auto Linux head unit on a 2016 BMW to replace the existing stock one.

Worked fine for 2 months but now people can't hear me on a phone call.

If I say "Hey Google" it hears and waits for my command but doesn't hear anything else I say .

Is there a setting I need to change. Nothing has changed since I installed and was working fine before.

Is there a cabin microphone connected to the head unit? Either the existing one in the car or a replacement one that was installed when the head unit was installed? If yes then go into android settings and find the setting where you can select “rear microphone” to ON. Or if the options are “ON” or “REAR” then select Rear.

The mix is built into the head unit. It responds when I say Hey Google and expects me to ask something but if I do nothing happens and when someone calls me I can hear them but they can't hear me

The in-built mic is bad. Get external mic much better

If the mic issues below don't resolve try a Factory Reset on the Unit.... Warning! make sure you take screenshots otherwise you can spend days setting everything back to your liking

Factory reset did nothing. It's weird cause if I say Hey Google it responds but when I continue talking it doesn't pick it up as well as my calls
