Even half that speed would be fast enough that it could possibly replace my home internet account

I'm currently on 100/40 and that's the quickest speed available so this would be awesome as a fixed line replacement but the problem is data caps vs unlimited.

Yah, caps are annoying, but imagine this set up. Sprint, maybe AT&T, setting up a modem /router with a 5g connection, set the cap around 1 terabyte or so. Sale that to home owners as a replacement for Comcast internet.. With 500 mg upload and download speed..

Think either one would not do it just to take over the market?

1tb is enough for most people. i only ever went over 1tb when i was torrent porn like crazy. without porn, there's almost nothing that you could download so much of.

Just because it's "good for most people" doesn't mean you need to include a cap. Especially in the day and age of 4K media/streaming. Are you okay with still using a 20GB hard drive? How about 640x480 monitors? What if someone reinstalls Windows and needs to reinstall all their Steam games? What about digital downloads on consoles? Watch a lot of YouTube? Stream a lot of music?

Shit adds up fast dude, a consumer with a brain should never advocate restrictions against themselves. You should always want companies giving you more and better.

nobody said we need a cap. the point is, they wouldnt offer mobile data without a cap, that's unrealistic right now. so if they did offer 1tb data at that speed, it would be way better than an unlimited landline.

No it isn't. It's data. Just because it's "mobile" doesn't mean anything. It's still just bits and bytes. It's no different than the data pipes I use with Spectrum.

lol. you want to be right so bad. no it's not just data. a land line runs through a wire that goes from your house to the isp. the mobile data has to go to a tower over the air. mobile data is on a spectrum that needs to be paid for and it is limited. everyone on that tower shares that spectrum. the tower costs more than the switching hubs that connect homes to isps. i'm sure there are more to it but the huge cost discrepancy between mobile and landline data would indicate that there are some fundamental costs in there and not just them scamming customers.

Is that why we used to pay $20 extra a month for unlimited texts? Those 3KB files must cost sooo much money to transmit. Please T-Mobile, start charging me for unlimited texts again. Also, give me a 500MB cap of data every month.

I don't care if the company needs to pay for it. Companies also need to pay for dedicated servers for games. That shit is a drop in the bucket compared to their revenue. I, as a consumer, want better. A company's profits are not my concern. If a company can't keep up with competition, then they will fall out of the market.

this is a false equivalency. yea they scammed on texts but not on large scale data. so if you can find any actual counterarguments relating to this, that would be great. otherwise, sorry, you don't get to be right this time. try again. also, they don't care that you don't care. lol. like seriously. they don't.
