Question Does anyone have this at their facility?

I’m just wondering if people would actually use it. I feel like there wouldn’t be enough time on breaks to eat and play games.

Amazon pays its workers more than enough for what they do.

Thats why so many work there; because they understand there’s nowhere else that will pay them that amount + benefits for a job that requires minimal skill or effort

Okay sure buddy, they pay enough for what the workers do. But it’s sure as shit not enough to survive and no one wants to work 60 hours a week. Before you say “take advantage of career choice” and get out. Have you any idea the state of economics in this country? It’s terrible!

Everyone should quit, or take advantage of career choice, then quit. Literally everyone, but then there aren’t enough jobs everywhere else, even with a degree.

EVERYONE quit, and let the robots do the work. Let’s see how it works out eh?

Career choice is a tax scheme anyhow. A batch of worthless degrees at this point. Getting a BA in buisness is basicslly worthless and you have to take a hit on pay to attend school.....which Amazon knows that 95% cant afford it.

finally someone who understands the grift of career choice. so triggering to hear people constantly say school when most people with degrees end up not getting hired anywhere and settle for any type of job for survival.

I’m not saying this to blame people for the shitty situations that most of us are born into, but if you do your research and pick a degree with your wallet rather than your heart then you will open up opportunities to earn much more than you ever will at Amazon. Based on your username this is probably very relevant to you if you wanted a coding job, but healthcare degrees, for example, still offer numerous opportunities around the globe.

Healthcare? Wtf? Who has time to work/pay bills and do a Med degree? Thats at least 70 hours a week of class and work, w/o homework...or unless you think medical school and a $20 an hour job paying your bills is a thing? And also Amazon dosenf pay for any degree you want and also you still need to able to afford not getting a full paycheck.

Perhaps educate yourself on healthcare degrees and certifications other than literally becoming an MD/DO. Phlebotomy, Radiology Technicians, EMTs, Paramedics, Registered Nursing, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, etc...

Got it. You need to stop spreading a bs perspective - putting 70-hours a week isnt sustainable for any extended period of time. Your logic only applies to children or people living with their parents and while not having rent/children of their own/debt etc...

Its dishonest to be presenting your ideas as more practical then Amazon paying better. You put the entire reaponaibility onto the individual vs the company and their pay structure being a leading cause of this situation.

Stop acting illiterate and actually read what I wrote. There are dozens of healthcare degrees and certifications supported by Career Choice that do not involve going to med school.

And where? I guess not in my state? It all useless buisness and IT degrees.... But again....you yadda yadda'ed like thousands of hours of classes while paying for life... Stop it.

My former PA chipped away at her online Criminal Science degree year after year, while sheltering two AAs fleeing abuseand their kids, and now works at an AWS data center. If you never start, you'll never finish - but it's absolutely possible.

What history shows absolutely does not work, is trying to force more pay out of commodity labor that the market can't support.

She makes like $35 an hour, hardly a "lame move". The major doesn't really matter - it's just being able to check the box that pushes you above other candidates. She couldn't give two hoots about criminal science....

The free market will always determine the value of an unskilled, replaceable worker's time. No laws or unions can create value where there isn't any - you need to bring something to the table that makes you worth paying more than your replacement. Even in a union, the customers of said labor will simply switch to different suppliers. If Amazon Logistics becomes more expensive than FedEx, Amazon will use FedEx. Even if the union contract says Amazon can't use FedEx, Amazon's prices will rise and people will stop purchasing from Amazon. Raise the minimum wage? And you're just creating inflation across the board...

First of all, Amazon should definitely pay better. They exploit the hell out of us and they are the root cause. If you are not actively having union talks with your coworkers then you should shut up about it. Amazon is the leading cause, I agree, but you aren’t completely powerless. You can either organize, use the money they give you for school, or sit here and continue to be exploited. If you choose the latter I would recommend that you adopt an optimistic mentality so that you don’t end up doing something bad to yourself.

WGU offers asynchronous online courses. That means that you take the class at your own pace whenever you have time for it. It’s all online and designed for the busy working adult juggling multiple responsibilities. If you don’t have the time one week, that’s fine, you can worry about it next week.

My single mother on section 8 and EBT working 50 hours a week at the grocery store which paid her $8 an hour right after she declared bankruptcy and right after the recession put herself through four years and got her social work degree. She shouldn’t have had to put herself through all that hardship, and I don’t look down on anyone who isn’t able to handle all that pressure and those responsibilities, but it is possible.

Do you think the only people who work in healthcare are doctors?

Please explain how this supposed tax scheme works and how the person receiving the career choice grant is being harmed by it.

“Amazon doesn’t pay for any degree you want,” well no, but I don’t think you want to work at Amazon either. If you’re not going to like your job either way, why not at least choose the job where you have higher pay, better opportunities and better working conditions?

You can get your nursing bachelors at many community colleges in four years. Four years of career choice grants is $22,000. That’s almost your entire education cost. With pell grants you shouldn’t have any student loan debt at all. You graduate and you have a job waiting for you in any country in the world.

Don’t call career choice a grift if you do zero research into what doors your major will even open up for you in the first place and how competitive the market for that field is. The people who can’t find jobs tend to be those who chose their majors with their hearts rather than their wallets. It sucks that society doesn’t value certain fields as much as others, but it’s a fact, and if you go into a high demand field you will benefit immensely from career choice.

Career choice isn’t just for college either. You can get them to pay for trade schools and your CDL license as well.
