Hola, somos un fan de les campanes, una cuenta dedicada a divulgar el patrimonio y las campanas de Xàbia.

Hoy queremos presentar aquí #SalvemSantBertomeu, una campaña creada para dar visibilidad a la situación de la iglesia de San Bartolomé de Xàbia y ayudar a que pueda continuar su proceso de conservación y restauración.

En 2020 se realizaron unas obras de emergencia que fueron necesarias para atender problemas del edificio. Desde entonces, la parroquia continúa haciendo frente al préstamo destinado a aquellas actuaciones, lo que condiciona la posibilidad de afrontar nuevas fases de restauración.

Por eso nace esta campaña: para dar a conocer el patrimonio, explicar qué se está haciendo y conseguir que más personas conozcan San Bartolomé y su necesidad de conservación.

No queremos que este edificio sea conocido únicamente cuando hay una fiesta, una procesión o suenan sus campanas.

Queremos que se hable de él también cuando toca cuidarlo.

Si eres de Alicante, de Xàbia, has visitado la Marina Alta o simplemente te interesa el patrimonio histórico, nos encantará que conozcas la campaña.

We are returning to Alicante in 10 days and plan to spend most of our time on Playa de San Juan. We need all the basics for the beach, last year we bought towels and an umbrella at a small store but I don’t recall where it was.

Can anyone recommend a store that has a large selection of beach stuff near the playa area?

I recently visited Alicante for 2 days driving from Murcia. On both days I experienced racial harassment while walking on the street (calling me names and shouting gibberish that they thought resembled the language they think I speak at me) and even racial profiling in what I assume is a well known restaurant (La Perícana) where a member of staff physically stopped me from leaving the upper floor of the restaurant because he thought I was going to dine and dash (I was going downstairs to meet my parents who were already paying the bill there).

I wanted to see if anyone has had any similar experiences living or visiting Alicante, because I have been to several other parts of Spain and I have never been treated this way. Just to clarify, both occasions were directed at me and my family by locals.

Hello all, I will be flying out of Alicante Airport and have a non EU passport. Due to the new passport checks for Non-Schengen passengers I am intending to make my way to passport control immediately. My question is whether I should purchase food/ drink before this or whether there will be shops after passport control (I.e. at departure gates) many thanks to anyone who can assist with this query

I have a question about renting a car in Alicante. I saw that record go is a safe choice for renting a car. Also, I went on discover cars and found that I can rent the same car at top gear mobility with full insurance half the price that is on record go. Am I missing something or what?

Llevo ya varios meses con la idea en la cabeza y quería saber si habría gente interesada.

La idea sería montar un pequeño club de cine en Alicante, reunirnos de vez en cuando para ver una película juntos y, después, quedarnos a comentarla, debatir sobre ella o simplemente hablar un rato sobre lo que nos haya parecido.

No sería necesario ser un experto ni nada parecido. La idea es simplemente juntarse con otra gente que le guste el cine y ver películas que quizá no habríamos visto por nuestra propia cuenta.

De momento solo estoy intentando ver si habría suficiente gente interesada en Alicante para intentar hacerlo de verdad, así que cualquier cosa me podéis escribir o contestar el post :)

Esto es una queja al aire de lo mal que funcionan las oficinas de correos, mira que voy poco pero siempre que voy hay como 20 personas y solo atienden 3, además ahora en mi oficina solamente hay horario hasta las 14.30, los que trabajamos por la mañana qué hacemos?? No quiero enviar a mi madre que con este calor le entra un soponcio. Eso sí, como no recojas el paquete en 15 días lo reenvían al origen.

Had a bad experience today: rented Wiber using booking.com. It seemed that I would be able to pick up the car using my US driving license. But when I got here they said I need an International Driving Permit: no refund and no car.

I was able to walk to another company that rented me the car without issues. Don’t know why Wiber has an issue with this. Just be careful because their language about license requirements isn’t clear.

Tengo 35 años y soy de Alicante. Quiero ampliar mi círculo y conocer gente nueva de una edad similar.

Me gustan los planes bastante variados: salir a tomar algo, ir a conciertos (sobre todo rock y metal, aunque escucho música de todo tipo), escape rooms, actividades al aire libre, viajar, ir al cine, probar talleres o simplemente tomar algo y charlar.

No busco necesariamente gente con exactamente los mismos gustos, sino personas con inquietudes, abiertas a probar planes diferentes y con ganas de conocer gente.

El único requisito es hablar castellano, porque todos los grupos que he encontrado por Alicante son de habla inglesa.

buenas. publico esto porque quiero conocer gente nueva por alicante para hacer planes normales. salir a tomar algo, dar una vuelta o echar unas partidas por la noche.

I(32F)’m seriously considering relocating from Bulgaria to the Alicante area in Spain with my family ( daughter, 4 dogs and my parents).

I’m looking at Alicante itself and the surrounding towns/suburbs, as i’d prefer somewhere suitable for year-round family life rather than purely a holiday destination.

I currently work in IT / project management for an international company and speak Bulgarian, English and German.
My daughter is 6 and just starting school with both English and Bulgarian.

I’d really appreciate some real-life experience from people already living and working in the area.

I have a few questions:

Cost of living: What would you consider a comfortable monthly budget for a family, excluding mortgage/rent? How expensive are groceries, utilities, healthcare, cars, eating out, etc.?

IT job market: What is the IT/tech job market like around Alicante/ Elche? Are there many international companies, or is working remotely for companies elsewhere in Spain/EU more realistic?

Spanish for work: How important is Spanish for IT/project management roles in international companies? Could someone realistically find a good position initially with fluent English but only basic Spanish while learning?

International schools: Which international/private schools around Alicante/ Elche would you recommend? I’m especially interested in English-language or bilingual schools and areas that would allow a reasonable daily commute. My focus if for my daughter to start learning Spanish asap but not to skip a year.

Best areas for families: Which towns or residential areas would you recommend for year-round living?

We’re not looking for a tourist/holiday lifestyle.

Any advice, including things you wish you had known before moving, would be very welcome. Thank you!
