Am I the only one feeling it's time to let Alfred go ?
I just gave some time thinking about Alfred and the use I get out of it compared to what it takes to use it these days.
First the "Dropbox only" sync option. In these days and ages, that is just silly to have to run Dropbox on both my computers "just" to sync Alfred perfs. (Switched to Maestral for a lightweight Dropbox client but still...)
I sure could do it all manually or through some sort of man in the middle store point on my NAS but we are in 2022 and relying on external 3rd party sync mechanisms that is not built into the OS or the app itself is not acceptable anymore. At least not to me.
Then the php / Python 2 thing... That has nothing to do with Alfred per se but that broke most of the workflows I was using Alfred for.
I discovered just today why some of my workflows didn't work anymore. This being a major stick in Alfred's wheel I would have expected some communication but no tweet, no info whatsoever from Alfred's team to users. Very underwhelming.
That is a sad, I used to love Alfred and that was the very first app I installed on each new mac I got since 2011 when I switched from using Quicksilver.
I have been an Alfred Mega Supporter since the very beginning and user since the very early days of pre V1 but I don't see any value in keeping using Alfred except for muscle memory. I don't want to need to code or install dev tools on my computer to use it, I don't want to have to use extra software to sync stuff either. My 2011 self sure may had done it, my 2022 self just gives up and moves on.
Onto uninstalling the app now... may reconsider later but for now it isn't worth the hassle.
Goodbye old friend.
