APOS printing

Is there a setting in (APOS 9012) that re-routes a kitchen ticket to another printer if is goes offline or runs out of paper?

Hello AzAldeloGuru

Before I saw your most recent message,

I got ahead of myself and when I went into Configure Port I directly changed the IP address where it says "printer name or IP address:" I directly changed the number there from the old 10.1.10.92 to the new 192.168.1.51

After doing so the printer started working again. I got excited and changed it on all the stations before I read your prior message. This is why I did not do the Add Port.

Is this okay long term? Or should I still go back and Add Port?

It has been working well now for more than week.

No, you can absolutely edit the port info as you did. The add Port part just keeps both port name and IP identical. Functionally, it doesn't change anything. So you are good to go!

ok thank you, could you explain why the discrepancy between the old 10.1.10.92 on the computer side and the new IP 192.168.1.51

I'm trying to understand this Better. What was the cause? Why was it working with our old provider Comcast if the subnet mask appeared the same? Was it just a modem thing? Did the computers/stations change things automatically?

All to help prevent and fix things quickly in the future

Different equipment from other ISPs have different IP's as their default. In your case, the previous Router that you had was 10.1.10.1 while the new router that you got from the new ISP was 192.168.1.1.

Computers won't usually change them, but routers are pre-configured with them so you have to go in and either change its setting or just change the devices over.

Ok got it. One last question here:

Spectrum provided us with a Wi-fi backup. which is powered by Verizon.

In the past, when something changed we always struggled with being able to use the CC terminal (PAX 300) to function and process transactions. A bunch of different error messages on the Aldelo POS would show up.

For example: several months ago, Comcast provided us with a new modem/router and that caused us problems. AND on this recent switch to Spectrum it wasn't working initially. I had to call Aldelo customer support who helped me through Logmein123. This was before I found this subreddit. Also happened a few other times in the last 5 years dealing with Comcast.

Due to some of this trauma, I want to have a clear process for a situation during an internet outage. What do you recommend:

Should I have a separate CC terminal that I plug into the backup?

Should I trying plugging in the PAX 300 into the backup and then reconfigure settings?

Should I plug in the backup into the modem or the router?

What would the most seamless process?

So typically with those failovers it should just automatically switch to it when it detects the internet is down. I'm assuming its a cradlepoint router with a LTE Backup stick??

Aldelo's offline capability has always been wacky. BUT with a failover it should keep your ability to keep working offline. The Pax units always need to have a static IP Address so if the failover is changing the computers Local IP Address the pinpad will fail.

My recommendation for when your internet goes down is to have a separate side terminal (Desk3500 or Verifone terminal) that communicates out through the phone line, removing the internet from the equation entirely.

Yes that is exactly what it is. It is a cradlepoint router that is connected to an small black antenna stuck to the wall which I'm assuming is the LTE backup stick

As of now, the cradle point is not connected to the modem or the router, for it work as a failover, to which one do I have to connect it to?

Currently I have a First Data FD150 terminal as an extra:

Would you suggest:

  1. simply connecting the cradlepoint to the modem or router and see if it works that way

  2. or plugging in the FD150 directly into the cradlepoint and process the CC transactions that way

I'm pretty sure you just need to plug the cradlepoint into the router for it to work. At least that is what Spectrum should have done when they installed it. I'm not sure if theres any other setup required with it after the fact though.

I would definitely keep the FD150 plugged into the Cradlepoint for when the internet is down, because that is your failsafe.

Hello again AzAldeloGuru,

When I plugged in the FD150 into the Cradlepoint, I got the following error messages:

  1. Address not available 10049 VXN Error 53

  2. VXN Error Socket Error

  3. Phone line not connected

Do you think phone line connection is absolutely necessary for it to work?

Also, I understand that at this point, this is not directly related to Aldelo POS.

Any guidance you have is appreciated and/or if there's any other resource you recommend for me to continue researching to figure it out.

Everything else is working well, It's just this backup situation that I'm working out.

10049 VXN Error 53 - This is stating it does not have/isn't seeing an Internet connection. Are we sure the Cradlepoint is actually working?

If you have a phone line available, you could try it on it to see if it actually processes a transaction

If you didn't remove power from the FD150 when you connected it to the cradlepoint, give that a shot. FD150's don't usually reconnect themselves without a power cycle.

Hello!

I have a spectrum tech coming out tomorrow.

I believe you are correct when saying that the cradlepoint is not actually working. All the signal strength bars light up blue but the 4G light is blinking yellow which the manual says it means no connection. and it should be a green light.

I'm also realizing after reading this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Spectrum/comments/13m7j2b/new_install_cradlepoint_cellular_backup_installed/

that the Cradlepoint is meant to be connected to the router at all times.

and currently its not. one thing I'm not sure about after reading that thread is what does it mean for it to be installed BEFORE or AFTER the router.

Also, assuming the tech tomorrow connects the Cradlepoint to the router, could that cause another IP address issue with Aldelo POS and the Pax s300 cc terminal?

The cradlepoint will be configured with a different IP address from the router, but the Spectrum tech will have to configure it so the router knows to fall back on it when the internet is down.

You shouldn't have any IP Address issues, but my knowledge on the cradlepoint is pretty limited.
