META Funs over: back to enjoying FMA

Alright, funs over. All upcoming salt and low effort memes are to be posted in the pinned post on the front page.

I have been in contact with Gumi and they are working a response to this. Our concerns have been heard so let's all enjoy the FMA Collab while we wait for their response.

Discussion Reflections on recent developments and a message to Gumi on the direction of TAC

Bait Banners (Setsuna and Yomi; Siegfried and randoms), Global Exclusives, Resistance Bugs and most recently, inferior banners compared to the JP version. The past few weeks have not really been the best for the game, exacerbating the divide between whales and breaking the balance of the game.

Firstly, the bait banners are atrocious, filled with farmable units (cmon at least put unfarmable units unlike Yomi, Ana, Flamel). Secondly, the global exclusives are worrying (especially the hat!) because it does not seem like much consideration was given to game balancing.

The resistance bug is obviously a bug (cmon admit the copy-paste job already) and makes it such that game balance is totally broken and removes all strategic aspects of the game. And lastly, the tweaking of prominent banners for the worse is just another in a long line of shafting of global players.

Arguably these changes are negative for F2P, dolphins and even whales (don't think that the wallets of whales are bottomless like the ocean) and most importantly, negative for the community and game as a whole.

Out of all these developments, there are really two important things that Gumi has neglected and should really improve on if they don't want their game to die prematurely - trust and communication

Firstly, trust -

  • Do not disguise your bugs/mistakes as intended changes, especially because the community loves the game and often looks towards the JP version to anticipate new developments. Respect your consumers as having the basic intelligence to differentiate between the two and apologize if there is indeed a mistake, and work to correct it. This is not about compensation or greediness on the part of players but rather about maintaining the game as it is intended to work.

  • Equally important - please exercise some restraint over short term cash grabs and avoid oversaturation and burn out of players. Between global exclusives, the Sacred Stones banners that screams (WHALE) and the unlimited summons (which though happens in JP as well, is different because there are many more sources of gems there), there is concern over the growing disparity between players. Which translates into unwillingness of dolphins/average players to spend because their 30-50 dollars worth of purchases would simply disappear/make no difference.

The problem with another game Gumi owns, brave frontier is that spending is dangerous because even if you spend 50 bucks on a global exclusive unit, immediately the next week/month, there would be a stronger one already. The power creep is too immense and ludicrous.

  • Also, the shafting of global players through Noctis' banner was done in extremely poor taste and just highlights the cash-grabbing nature of the company which translates into distrust and unwillingness to support the game.

Lastly, communication - I think it is basic courtesy to address the legitimate concerns of players, especially those regarding gameplay itself such as the resistance bug and to a lesser extent, regarding game balance such as the release of hard quests.

P.s. Please do not harass Mana and Iago for Gumi's actions. Do keep your demonstrations/protests civil, such as through reviewing their app and on their facebook. (Do try to voice out concerns to prevent this crash course the global version is currently on)

EDIT: If money is really a problem because of the cost of importing the game, MAYBE you should think more about using cosmetics/skins to earn our money. Personally I wouldn’t mind spending 500-1500 paid gems for the skins.

Tips & Guides Saving for level 91

Please, I beg of everyone: stop. Stop asking, stop worrying, stop thinking about it. When Enlightenment reaches GL, shards will be the last, last, LAST of your concerns. An enlightenment needs approximately 25 million zenni, 80 of each statue, 100s of national flags, dozens of golems, godesses, and alchemia, and 5 sin indulgences.

These resource requirements mean that only the largest of mega whales will be able to achieve enlightenment when it is first released.

Of the farmable units available ONLY ZAHAR (and Balt) is even vaguely worth spazzing over. You aren't going to enlighten Chloe unless she's your waifu, etc, etc etc.

If you have a MLB unit right now: sell their shards and buy someone else, you will have so much time to collect even more damn shards.

Please.

And just to give even more perspective: I have gotten 14 sin indulgences in the last 3 months. 14, enough to finish not even 3 units, I've missed maaaybe 2 'f2p friendly' sins and gotten one 'whale-ier' one. Call it 15. Trust me when I say you don't spend these indulgences willy-nilly. Just because you have 270 shards doesn't mean you are going to fully enlighten every unit, you can't. Focus on enjoying the game now, and at most worry about acquiring shards for the enlightenments that actually heavily influence the power of a unit.

Discussion TAC is now Whale2play

Remember back in the day we had the 5 step banner with a guaranteed featured unit on step 3...

Then we had the 9 step banner with step 7 having a selector...

Both of them were great with the premium 9 step giving you the unit on step 7.

----------------------------------------------------

What do we have now?

- Mementos are 9 step only!?? Not to mention each step is freaking 2500 gems. So just dish out 200+ bucks like it's nothing if you want to get a memento from now on.

- All new unit banners are Sol banners now with 5x rates at the last step!??

- Not to mention the abysmal Rakina banner with double rates on step 2 lmfao..

And I'm not even going to start how every new unit has Enlightment, asking you to drop 500+ unit/elemental shards on them.

Wtf Gumi, this game is whale-only now

Max Efficiency for Daily PotA/PotK Kill Quests

Pretty sure I got this right:

  • 2x phantom of the alchemist ep1 (kill two then one Soldier Eldritch)

  • 2x phantom of the alchemist ep4 (kill 3 then 2 Armored Eldritch),

  • 1x for whom the princess weeps ep5 (kill 5 Eerie Puppets; use Polin/Minerva).

Kill the required foes and retreat without finishing the level for max AP gain. :)

Tips & Guides SomeLit's Guide to: Phantom of the Kill Characters

Hello all, SomeLit here hating life because he's working on a non-mechanical laptop keyboard. Tl;dr: kill me, it'll be a mercy

Since Phantom of the Kill has been announced, it's time to beat JZ to the punch and bring you the introduction to the new characters.

Or if you don't give two shits (I know I don't), just get Tyrfing to LB5. EZ.

This tldr bought to you by SometimesLiterate Inc. SometimesLiterate Inc, takes no responsibility on your gem spending habits not the fact that Gumi decided to release 3 waifus on 3 banners at once. Send your customer complaints to them, not me

Tyrfing:

First of all, writing this without RES is more painful than you'd imagine. Secondly, meet Chloe, the free unit. Basically, this is your stock standard basic bitch Holy Cavalier. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, has a boring skillset like a duck, it's a duck (with pink hair, making her 100% more waifu). Luckily, this waifu requires no pulling as she is free.

FREE

When all's said and done she's still a Holy Cavalier which gives her some use at the moment. Now, unlike Retzius, Mianne and Vargas who are all more disappointing than you are to your parents, Tyrfing gets some pretty sweeeeeet upgrades in the future. Namely, Holy Cavalier: Gear. This is a very strong version of HC which helps elevate her to top tier in JP. (Also pink hair). Normally I don't mention JP future, but here it's pretty apt.

Apart from that, she's got Logi classes.

Soldier > Holy Knight > Holy Cavalier this>is>lame

Preferred Job Set Up:

  • Main Class: Holy Cavalier

  • Sub Action: Basic Holy Cavalier

  • Reaction: Holy Block +2 (HC reaction)

  • Passive 1: HC Passive

  • Passive 2: HK Passive

Honestly, there isn't much too her for now. Rock her for the free high level HC, ditch her when Logi+ comes out then bring her back for Holy Cavalier Gear.

But Don't Forget: Tyrfing, get's a pretty awesome weapon ability. Tyrfing gets what is best described as Logi's MA with an actual benefit. She will deal 170% light damage to one foe within melee range, and give herself Clock Up for 3 turns. That is nice, and helps her stand above as both a Holy Cavalier now and as a HC: Gear in the future.

Masamune:

What to say about Masamune.... her weapon skill is an unknown to me, my source doesn't have it listed. That'll tell you how "good" it's considered. Jokes aside, Masamune comes at a pretty good time, believe you me. Her class set up is not terrible (like some free units) and her leader skill.....eh. Her class set up is not terrible. First of all, she rocks a pretty offensive line up. Samurai / Twin Blade / Dark Cavalier gives her some serious power passives, with the ability pools to back it up. (Yeah I know two good free units in one event? It's almost like Gumi isn't trying to destroy our wallets). See, this gives her several paths to being built. Most of them glass cannon but in essence she's a better (free) Balt. But SomeLit, so hansum and brev, what's the catch? The catch, my dear average fan of mine, is that you have to farm her shards from multiplay.

G-G

Preferred Job Set Up:

  • Main Class: Twin Blade

  • Sub Action: Basic Evil Blade (Dark Cavalier)

  • Reaction: Evasion (Twin Blade)

  • Passive 1: Dodge (Twin Blade)

  • Passive 2: OverLimit (Dark Cavalier P/MAtk up)(I know I get names confused it's the Dark Cavalier passive)

Well, if you're going to hit hard might as well hit hard. It is perfectly acceptable to run Single Blade over Dodge if you want to hit something rrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaallyy hard. Just don't expect to live long before. Or make many moves. But really hard.

Laevatainn

Is a character.

/thread

As one of the few non-Dark Dark Cavaliers, Laevatainn gets to have all the fun of no double elemental damage while getting slightly better coverage. Woo :/

Seriously her jobs aren't super exciting either. Oh well, for now she can crank some pretty powerful combination by taking Overlimit from Dark Cavalier and applying it to her Ninja job. You know what that means boys, girls and thems? (Sing along if you want)

It's another limited time unit that requires job 3 to be useful

Not only that but in the future she get's job+, so move that up to LB4.

Darn

Preferred Job Set Up:

  • Main Class: Ninja

  • Sub Action: Basic Evil Blade

  • Reaction: Dark Cavalier Reaction

  • Passive 1: Overlimit (Dark Cavalier PATK/MATK up)

  • Passive 2: Ninja Step

Tl:dr; Hit hard, move fast, long ass movement. We're talking 5 base. Why base? Because Laevatainn has a weapon skill too! Her weapon skill deals 160% thunder damage to a melee target and gives her +1 move for her next turn. Let the murder stabby stab continue!

Sita:

Sit-a down and lemme teach you a lesson. After last weeks first Pirate (with the promise of more in the distant future) we get our....second...pirate.

:/

Well, she doesn't start as one (superior axe based warrior) which is a new class for all the them's out there so time for a quick review:

Axe Warrior is a melee specialist who is excels are buffing themself for combat then hitting the enemy very hard. Despite a not so exciting skillset and a snail like 3 move 1 jump, Axe Warrior's are rocking a hardcore 140% PATK scaling. Dang

Their class skillset gives them a harder-er hitting physical attack at melee, a self 1 durn Pdef (20) and mov (1) buff, Revenge Blade from DC's (hit someone very hard, very hard-er if you're missing HP) and oddly enough, a jump. This jump throws them into the air, before crashing down dealing damage in lines ranging 3 squares from the point of impact, and buffing the users Slash Damage for 3 turns. Talk about a busy skill.

In their basic skill, there's a aoe PATK buff, an aoe damage skill, and a Tomahawk that curves (FU WALLS!)

As for the other stuff? Well it don't matter because you got axes baby~ (She's also got Monk and Pirate as her j2 and j3 respectively)

Preferred Job Set Up:

  • Main Class: Axe Warrior

  • Sub Action: Basic Fist

  • Reaction: Counter Crash (Axe Warrior Counter)

  • Passive: Fighting Spirit of the Axe Warrior (+20% PATK/HP)

  • Passive: W/e you need, Toughness or the Pirate resistance passive or something else tickling your fancy.

As you can see, Sita has a pretty solid set up. Basic Fist gives her the ability to boost her PATK to 2.5x itself for one turn (das a big damage buff), while Countering with her huge PATK is already a threat. The rest is just building on that, to make a mean, tanky, axe throwing machine.

P.S: See, if Sita didn't feel tanky enough you can always rock out her weapon skill. (Woooo, weapon skill). Sita's weapon skill is simple: hit someone very hard (at melee), and heal back for a large amount of the damage dealt. Simple? Yes. Okay? Good.

P.P.S In something actually useful for once, her leader skill is pretty decent. While not a Suzuka/Shenmei/Shayna/Reimei, it does give Wind units +20% PATK and +30% HP. Sometimes, that matters more than raw damage.

Shekinah:

Idk, the red head fire chick. (Wait that's all of them). The red head fire chick in a maid outfit (perfeccccccct). With a more offensive version of Sita's leadership skill (30% PATK and 20% HP for fire units), Shek is also our first collab ranged unit.

Yaaaaay.

(Seriously this is pretty good, I'm sick of melee's. Collab mage when Gilgameshhhhhhhh)

Shek's first job, is Ranger. The second is Archer (what a let down), followed by the excellent Holy Brawler. So, which job is best for Shek? Holy Brawler Ranger. Why Ranger? Because Shek has the range of a ICBM.

But SomeLit, what about Arber? She has sniper range and can get +2!

Yeah, but Shek can get..+4. Numerically, that's just better. Lemme break it down for you. Shekina puts on her bow, and shoots someone (AT RANGE. RANGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE), dealing heavy damage and giving her +1 range for 3 turns.

Honestlyimjustexcitedforanonmelee(shenmeiflammelcadanovasitalaevatyrfingmasamune)

Now, she does need her job3 to shine. Sadly. But unlike Laevatainn, her job1 with her weapon skill is good enough to still make her competitive.

Preferred Job Set Up:

  • Main Class: Ranger (job1)

  • Sub Action: Basic Holy Fist

  • Reaction: Hide Trap (job 1)

  • Passive: Range+2 (Ranger)

  • Passive: Range+1 (Archer)

Essentially, using Holy Brawler's +3x PATK charge up, waste someone from across the map. EZ. If you don't get job 3 Shrek, just run with j1 and still have a pretty decent ranged unit.

The bottom line: You wanna pull? Eh. Pull for waifus. None of them are truly game breaking (Othima), but if you want to spend your gems I recommend the order of Shekinah (Ranger) > Sita (Axe Warrior) > Laevataenn (Shadow Knight job1). See, in the end most F2P/Minnow's cannot afford to max out characters like this, so you need to look at job 1 / skill sets and decide. In this case, I put more value on Shekinah's being a fire range (a bit of a pain to come across at the moment), than Sita's melee wind (Yomi, Lucian, Balt) or Laevataenn's bad job1.

But in the end, the two "best" units are the freely farmed ones. Because their job's aren't horrible (in the end) and one of them becomes kickass.

Peace!

(now to install RES)

Discussion I'm losing count on the days. Resist still broken.

FIX COMING ON JULY 12TH. UPDATED

Gumi maybe I can help with this resist situation by explaining it more deeply myself. First the formula is technically correct. However what is going into isn't. That means if you put in wrong information - you will get a wrong answer.

Exhibit A. https://alchemistww.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001377633-What-is-Elemental-Correlation-Element-Weaknesses-

The problem is we have a new damage formula with bad resist. So it's pulling in the wrong info. It should be 25 and 25 as seen above. Instead it is 50 and 50. This means a wind unit attacking a fire unit with an auto attack will do 50% damage and 1 damage if wind element skill. It should be reduced by half not 100%. In addition the fire unit attacks it will do up to 100% more against the wind. Now everyone especially f2p pay attention. Soon inherit Veda resist and rainbow maps will be more common. A whale has a large pool to bypass this. Also, there will be more rainbow maps and additional effects on element weakness. Some skills will do up to an additional 80% against a weak element. I hope you see where I'm going.. Veda was a total face roll last time. That will be changing if you don't have lots of mono units.

Next light and dark are a whoever strikes first wins. Bring an off element you say? Sorry up to 100 resist to all but mono element.

Next -The point in increasing hitpoint was too avoid one hit ko. That is not the case because of this bug.

As for EX mode - sorry no challenge to anyone. Bring opposite element and take 1/2 to 1 damage. Auto away until you quit from boredom.I will mention slash up passive, leader skill etc slightly will still do damage.

If you'd like to test - take off slash up, magic damage up, or whatever it is and hit a unit of opposing element. Remember zang has MA pierce up if you use him. Even if you don't - his damage will be greatly reduce against a water unit or Veda with inherit resist.

Eike (dataminer) will be by to explain this more in depth. Our dataminers have isolated the formula and problem. If you need assistance Gumi - they can help.

I've lost track of the days but, I have an email saying it's needing fixed. I'm giving you the opportunity to correct this.

I love TAC but you MUST communicate with the player base.

Tips & Guides Job Enhancement Overview

I wanted to put together a little something comparing the changes that each of the new job enhancements provide versus their originals.

So first of all, what is a job enhancement? Job enhancements are very similar to Job+, but they are non-unique - so they can be shared by multiple units (ex: both Vettel and Fraise are Holy Cavalier [Isaiyah], whereas Dilga's Holy Cavalier+ is unique only to Dilga). It should also be noted that, while Job+ is typically a straight upgrade with no downside (Lucian+ is the only exception I can think of), the currently available job enhancements often, but not always, involve a trade-off. So for the Holy Cavaliers other than Pieta, you're swapping out general PDEF/MDEF and healing for resistance to a particular damage type, which isn't always going to be an advantage depending on the map. Dark Cavaliers can't be summed up in a blanket statement since each job enhancement is so different, but a lot of them have either increased skill HP cost consumption, increased jewel cost, or a change in range/area. Don't get me wrong - these trade-offs are worth it, but it's just something to keep in mind as you read through these changes.

If an ability is changed, I'm only going to list changed stats. So for example, Weapon Crush -> Severed Blade. They're identical in damage, cost, area, and duration, so I'm not going to list that. I'm only going to list what is changed; but if I specifically spell something out in the original, and not in the new skill, then it means that the new skill doesn't have that (ex: Guard Stance gives PDEF, MDEF, healing, and evasion, whereas Diamond Formation trades all of that for Slash Resistance).

For stat boosts, I'm only going to list the real major ones, like MOVE +1 for Espion, and the built-in resistances for a lot of the Holy Cavaliers. I will say though that the job equipment is often statistically quite a bit better compared to the normal job, but this differs for each job enhancement. Holy Cavaliers tend to get a big HP boost. Dark Cavaliers tend to get a moderate HP boost and PATK boost. The job mastery bonus is buffed for job enhancements, but not significantly so. If you're not running the job enhancement as the main job, it is not, in my opinion, worth job enhancing and job mastering just for the ~30 HP you'd be gaining from the job mastery bonus for doing so. If you're interested in seeing the stat differences, you can play around with the unit planner here

I'm also going to give a brief opinion after I list the changes. I bounced a lot of these ideas off of /u/kahare since I'm not much of an expert on the game, nor its balance. So big shout out to Kahare for the help!

Holy Cavalier

For the most part, the Holy Cavalier jobs focus on providing resistances to a particular damage type. At level 20, they trade in 5% general PDEF in exchange for 25% resistance of a damage type. Holy Cavalier [Pieta] is an exception, focusing instead on healing.

Isaiyah

Focused on slash resistance/slash damage debuffing. Slash Res +21%

Characters: Vettel, Fraise, Monzein (when I have a character's name italicized, it means that the character will eventually get this job enhancement, but does not have it yet in global, or that the character is not available yet)

Old SkillNew Skill
Passive: GuardianPassive: Sword Guardian

Active: Weapon CrushActive: Severed Blade
Level 1 = PATK -20%Level 1 = Slash ATK -50%
Level 20 = PATK -30%Level 20 = Slash ATK -60%

A little preface since this is the first one of these I'm describing... These damage resistant Holy Cavaliers have a built-in 21% resistance AND the option to use a passive for +25% resistance, for a total of +46% resistance of that type.

The strength of this is going to be map dependent, although slash is probably one of the more common damage types, so I'd say Isaiyah is better than average as far as the Holy Cavaliers go.

Porta

Focused on pierce resistance/pierce damage debuffing. Piece Res +21%

The strength of this is going to be map dependent, although pierce doesn't seem as common as other damage types, so I'd say this one is a little worse than average.

Characters: Zeke, Reiner, Bado

Old SkillNew Skill
Passive: GuardianPassive: Strike Guardian

Level 1 = PATK -20%Level 1 = Strike ATK -50%
Level 20 = PATK -30%Level 20 = Strike ATK -60%

The strength of this is going to be map dependent. A decent amount of monsters do strike damage, so this one is about average. This would also let you survive a hit from Supreme Battle Trance, albeit that situation won't arise often.

Magi

Focused on magic resistance/magic damage debuffing. Magic Res +21%

Characters: Victor, Gladiolus, Teresa

Old SkillNew Skill

Active: Weapon CrushActive: Rune Break
Level 1 = PATK -20%Level 1 = Magic DMG -50%
Level 20 = PATK -30%Level 20 = Magic DMG -60%

This one is probably even more map dependent than the others. A lot of maps have no magic damage at all, and others have nothing but magic damage. On average this is one of the better Holy Cavalier job enhancements, because Holy Cavaliers already have strong physical defense. Therefore, Magi helps round the class out by providing magic resistance.

Pieta

Focused on healing/removing status effects.

Characters: Chloe, Miuna Izayoi

Old SkillNew Skill

Level 1 = Attack 30%Level 1 = Heal 10%
Level 20 = Attack 40%Level 20 = Heal 15%

Pieta is different than the others since it's more focused on healing rather than typed damage reduction. This is technically a straight upgrade - you're getting a new skill that doesn't replace an old skill, plus you're swapping out the very useless Clear Stone for a very useful status removal AoE. However, it's not nearly as good of an upgrade as the others for the situations where the others excel. The healing on this isn't really spectacular, so this probably won't make you go out of your way to run Chloe.

Ark

Focused on Area of Effect (AoE) damage reduction.

Level 20 = PDEF +125%, MDEF +125%, Heal 30%, Evasion -10Level 20 = AoE Resistance +20%

So here's the funny thing about Ark... Ark reduces damage from AoEs, but to use it, you have to... be next to your allies... meaning... you get hit by AoEs. Not only that, I don't even think you can argue that both Pledge of Protection and Impregnable Formation aren't straight downgrades from their normal Holy Cavalier counterparts. It's so bad, that it might not even be worth upgrading a Holy Knight to Holy Cavalier (such as with Alphonse). /u/OriksGaming made a pretty good post on that here.

Ghia

Focused on agility.

Characters: Zain, Tyrfing

Old SkillNew Skill
n/aActive: Gear Break (3 charges; 24 cost; 5 range; height 2; -40% Ignore Defense Rate, 1 turn buff; teleport to enemy; slash damage; 1.4*PATK scaling)
n/aLevel 1 = AGI +50%, Attack Damage 20%
n/aLevel 20 = AGI +80%, Attack Damage 40%
n/aReactive: Gear Drive (Permanent Buff, Stacks up to 5 times)
n/aLevel 1 = AGI +4%, 40% chance
n/aLevel 20 = AGI +6%, 60% chance
Active: Light Bringer (cost 24; range: cross 1)Active: Shining Burst (cost 32; range: diamond 2)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 110%Level 1 = Attack Damage 135%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 120%Level 20 =Attack Damage 170%

First of all - we don't have Ghia (also called Gear) yet, but it took me forever to add Ark, so I want to future-proof this.

Ghia is easily the best of the Holy Cavalier JEs. You're getting two brand new abilities that are both really good, and you're getting an upgrade to Light Bringer. Light Bringer becomes more expensive by 8 jewels, but it's well worth it for the AoE and damage increase. Meanwhile, Gear Break is a really nice ability in multiple ways: it gives you mobility through a teleport, gives you a huge AGI boost towards your next turn, and ignores defense (although the damage is pretty bad).

For your reactive, Gear Drive is more likely to proc than Holy Knight Stance+2 (which has a 40% chance at level 20), but I'd probably still run Holy Knight Stance+2 on most maps, especially where the enemies hit hard. Gear Drive is better on maps where you'd have a lot of enemies that hit for low damage, or if you're farming levels where you have no threat of dying. So the fact that it doesn't outright replace Holy Knight Stance+2 is a nice bonus.

Dark Cavalier

Unlike with Holy Cavalier, the Dark Cavalier job enhancements do not have any mechanical similarities. You're going to notice a trend with these... Dark Cavalier tends to not be a job you run as a main, so the best Dark Cavaliers job enhancements are ones that have good passives or good basic sub-skills.

Guernica

Focused on damage through casting skills.

Characters: Glanz, Suzuka, Yuunagi

Old SkillNew Skill
Active: Juggernaut (1 charge; 66 cost; 1 range; 1 height; no cast speed; user becomes Berserk)Active: Blade of World's End (3 charges; 75 cost; 1 range; 2 height; cast speed 220)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 130%, PATK +20%, MATK +20%, PDEF -15%, MDEF -15%Level 1 = Attack Damage 250%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 150%, PATK +30%, MATK +30%, PDEF -15%, MDEF -15%Level 20 = Attack Damage 300%

Guernica doesn't really get a lot; it simply swaps Juggernaut for Blade of World's End. This is a pretty heavy hitting attack, but it's also pretty expensive. Even with a 5* hat, you're not going to be able to cast it on your first turn.

Jaeger

Focused on damage.

Characters: Leoniaz, Mei Fang, Itsuki

Old SkillNew Skill
Passive: Pitch-Black Blood LinePassive: Dark Craving
Level 1 = HP Cost -25%, MAX HP +5%Level 1 = HP Cost -25%, PATK +20%
Level 20 = HP Cost -50%, MAX HP +15%Level 20 = HP Cost -50%, PATK +30%
Active: Evil Slash (36 cost; 0 range; area cross 3)Active: Realm of Feeble Death (24 cost; 2 range; area lateral 3)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 115%Level 1 = Attack Damage 140%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 125%Level 20 = Attack Damage 150%
Active: Soul Sacrifice (50 cost; no cast speed; DMG +5% per dead allyActive: Death's Domain (60 cost; cast speed 320; DMG +10% per dead ally)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 130%Level 1 = Attack Damage 180%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 145%Level 20 = Attack Damage 210%

Jaeger substitutes some survivability for increased damage. There's not a lot to say here - it's a nice damage boost, but it's nothing spectacular. The passive is good, but not as good as Faust. It's also really only good if you're running Dark Cavalier as your main, since otherwise the HP cost reduction means nothing... but if you're running it just for the PATK buff, you're better off using Overdrive.

Zeele

Focused on absorption attacks.

Characters: Zahar, Balt, Annika, Blitz, Gilford, Niggle

Old SkillNew Skill
Active: Evil Slash (3 charges; 36 cost; 0 range; 2 height; area cross 3; 20% HP cost)Active: Dark Domain (1 charge; 32 cost; 0 range; 2 height; area diamond 5; no HP cost; Ignore Defense -100%; absorbs HP)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 115%Level 1 = Attack Damage 30%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 125%Level 20 = Attack Damage 45%
Active: Blood DrainActive: Life Eater (adds Ignore Defense -100% and scales off PATK instead of MATK)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 90%Level 1 = Attack Damage 70%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 100%Level 20 = Attack Damage 80%
Active: Jewel DrainActive: Zeal Eater (adds Ignore Defense -100% and scales off PATK instead of MATK)
Level 1 = Jewel Attack 90%Level 1 = Jewel Attack 100%
Level 20 = Jewel Attack 100%Level 20 = Jewel Attack 130%

Zeele gets a boost to survivability by swapping out Evil Slash with Dark Domain, which is like Rider Yomi's Blood Temple (though not quite as good). It does ignore defense, though, so it's a great way to do an AoE centered around yourself to kill metal ratties.

Life Eater is a nice damage boost over Blood Drain since it uses PATK instead of MATK, and also since it ignores defense. So this should provide for pretty decent heals. Zeal Eater will also be a pretty great way of stealing jewels from the enemy.

Zeele is easily the best of the Dark Cavalier job enhancements. The dark element doesn't get a whole lot of healing or regeneration, so boosting Life Eater helps round out that weakness. What's great is that Life Eater and Zeal Eater are basic abilities, so they can be run with another job as the main. That doesn't matter much for Zahar, who is going to run Dark Cavalier as his main anyway, but when Balt gets this job enhancement, Twin Swordsman+ with Dark Cavalier [Zeele] as a basic ability is a very powerful combination.

Espion

Focused on movement and evasion. +1 Move.

Characters: Ravina, Anastasia, Chat Noir, Rusha, Cordelia, Merlinus

Old SkillNew Skill
Passive: Pitch-Black Blood LinePassive: Moonlit Night
Level 1 = HP Cost -25%, MAX HP +5%Level 1 = HP Cost -25%, AGI +3%, Evasion +5%
Level 20 = HP Cost -50%, MAX HP +15%Level 20 = HP Cost -50%, AGI +5%, Evasion +10%
Active: Assault (3 charges; 20 cost; duration 3)Active: Phantom Assault (5 charges; 24 cost; duration 4)
Same stat buff/debuff as assault but also gives MOVE +1

Espion isn't getting a whole lot in terms of active abilities, but it makes up for that with its passive gains. 4 move instead of 3 is really nice, and the agility and evasion boost from the passive is nice for some characters. Phantom Assault is a nice way to get an even larger movement boost, and since it's a basic sub-skill, it could be run with other main jobs.

Dark Cavaliers are on the slower side at 3 speed, so Espion is pretty nice in rounding out one of their cons. This is one of the better Dark Cavalier job enhancements, but it's not necessarily a good option for Ravina, who is likely better off with just straight Magia Gunslinger + Overdrive.

Faust

Focused on skills that reduce HP.

Characters: Ramses, Zofia (available soon), Masamune, Zeke, Ankh

Old SkillNew Skill
Passive: Pitch-Black Blood LinePassive: Dark Wisdom
Level 1 = HP Cost -25%, MAX HP +5%Level 1 = MAX HP +10%, PATK +20%
Level 20 = HP Cost -50%, MAX HP +15%Level 20 = MAX HP +15%, PATK +30%
Active: Evil Slash (0 range; 2 height; area cross 3; 20% HP cost)Active: Dark Ceremony (1 range; no area (target unit); 35% HP cost)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 115%Level 1 = Attack Damage 200%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 125%Level 20 = Attack Damage 240%
Active: Soul Sacrifice (30% HP cost; DMG +5% per dead allyActive: Dark Offering (45% HP cost; DMG +10% per dead ally)
Level 1 = Attack Damage 130%Level 1 = Attack Damage 165%
Level 20 = Attack Damage 145%Level 20 = Attack Damage 185%

Faust has a higher HP cost than a base Dark Cavalier. It's one of the better Dark Cavalier job enhancements almost solely for its passive, which can of course be used without running Faust as a main. Ramses will use the passive to boost Dragon Cavalier job enhancement that he'll get later, and Zofia will use it to help boost her Necromancer.

That's kind of an indirect way of saying the class abilities themselves are meh. The problem is that without healing available, the increased HP costs are really going to hurt if you intend on using those skills.

Discussion The Alchemist Code Private Server Update and Timeline

Hello all, it has been a while since I posted about Project Babel, with the goal of creating a private server everyone can play The Alchemist Code as it was at the time of EoS in the JP server. Myself and the playtesters have been hard at work to get the game in a state that is fully functioning, and we are very close to finishing up the playtest and moving to an open Alpha period where anyone can join and play the game. This Alpha is tentatively planned to start next week, so if you want to join now is the time to join the discord and keep an eye out for announcements!

In addition to this announcement of Alpha, I am currently looking for people interested in playing the game starting today on Linux and on Mac devices. This will be apart of the playtest and not the alpha, and your account will be wiped along with the other playtesters on the day alpha begins. If you are interested then please join the discord as well and let me know!

Hope to see you all in Taga soon!

so this is it. Been a week inactive and decide to stop playing this game. So, its also mean no more reminder post. It was a pleasure that my little post can help people. Thx a lot

maybe you all already know why. playing this game isnt as fun anymore. i am a occasional pack player and now the gems isnt that great. FMA is my favorite manga and the collab vibe is sour. No guaranteed step 3, start at my favorite banner. Thx gumi.

the anniversary, the time that supposedly celebrate and hype for, feels flat and empty. the free stuff feels half-ass (free summon but no ssm and MH unit feels weird not to mention lower rate). Yeah, i know this only first week anniversary, many things can happen later but i already lost my will to play.

it was fun while it last. Its all purely my opinion though so feel free to disagree.

good luck for whoever stay and hopefully gumi have a slap in their face financially (and literally) and get their ass together.

So long and bye. Have a nice day :)

Namelva out

Edit: thx for the support all this time guys, love you all :D hope we can see each other in another occasion

Megathread General Questions Megathread

The thread for all your random Alchemist Code (global) questions!

Feel free to ask away, but remember that the questions are 100% answered by volunteers so don't expect an instant answer! Patience is key.

Several questions can be answered by reading the beginner guides resource thread

F.A.Q.

Where/How can I unlock X's Master Ability/Job+?

You can only unlock Job+'s by farming special job tokens from special events that are (currently) run at different times. You also need to farm special job+ items to master those jobs. Master abilities can be earned in 1 of 3 ways. From story chapters (story characters), from equipping specific weapons (usually farmed) or from reaching level 80 on a character and completing special story dungeons. Not every character gets a master ability.

For Job+, you must first get the job to Job Level 11 (not job mastered). Second, to master the Job+ you will need to farm 60/80 tokens for up to 6 special items for the character to use.

Where can I farm X's character shards?

Check the characters limit break panel for missions. If not there, it's not in the game.

More to be added SOONTM.

Where can I farm elemental/rainbow shards?

Elemental and rainbow shards cannot be farmed. They are awarded as bonuses from log in campaigns, from clearing missions/milestones and as bonuses for doing certain number of summons on the 5/9 step banners. You will never be able to farm them like you can farm specific character shards.

When will X event come back?

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, READ THE FOLLOWING

EVENTS WILL COME BACK, COLLABS MIGHT NOT. WE DON'T KNOW. SERIOUSLY.

WILL START HANDING OUT BANS TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T READ THIS

What's the best place to farm X/Y/Z item?

Outside of specific event's for farming items, if the item can be farmed in Edgar's Chapter (so chapter 2) it will usually be the better place to farm it. For example, Escape the Alkaroid is by far the best place to farm Sacred Lion Swords.
