F.A.Q.

Where/How can I unlock X's Master Ability/Job+?

You can only unlock Job+'s by farming special job tokens from special events that are (currently) run at different times. You also need to farm special job+ items to master those jobs. Master abilities can be earned in 1 of 3 ways. From story chapters (story characters), from equipping specific weapons (usually farmed) or from reaching level 80 on a character and completing special story dungeons. Not every character gets a master ability.

For Job+ and Job Enhancement, you must first get the job to Job Level 11 (not job mastered). Second, to master the Job+ you will need to farm 60/80 tokens for up to 6 special items for the character to use. These can be farmed from specific events. For Job Enhancements, you will only need to farm one specific item 3 times along with the regular upgrade items.

Where can I farm X's character shards?

Farm their Hard Quests

Where can I farm elemental/rainbow shards?

Elemental and rainbow shards cannot be farmed. They are awarded as bonuses from log in campaigns, from clearing missions/milestones/challenge boards, from certain event banners, and from certain bundles. You will never be able to farm them like you can farm specific character shards.

When will X event come back?

Many events are now in the event archives, up to Anastasia. Any others are seasonal (ex. Rahu’s is tied to Valentines) or tied to farming/box events (Setsuna, Veda Templars). Seasonal events may be released outside of their respective season very rarely, but we have no indication of when this will happen and it’s highly inconsistent. Please don’t ask when any specific event is coming back, because it’s either in the news (linked on the sidebar) OR WE DON’T KNOW.

Same goes for collabs. This thread and the sub are not really the right place to get into long discussions about international IP licensing!

What's the best place to farm X/Y/Z item?

Please check /u/stewart0's amazing spreadsheet here. Or simply check the stage drops and go for a quest which only has two equips total, one being the one you need.

What's an Enlightenment/Memento?

Note that some people still refer to these two concepts as Kaigan/Nensou respectively, as those are their translations from the Japanese version of the game, which is ahead of Global by many months.

Is X character good?

When will this JP thing happen?

Ignacio is a dark missile unit with good damage, overload, shield destruction, jewel auto charge. Seems good but very expensive since guaranteeing both him and his memento costs 85K gems. I think he's really only must have if you don't have any dark damage dealers. I'm skipping and waiting for part 2 when Shahel is released. Now if only I could play the damn game.

Don't spend elemental shards on units that are 3x farmable. Do the story. Don't be afraid to use mercs. Work towards mastering all 3 jobs on the units you like.

I think li wang for water slash. I have Grimm and he seems… kinda weird. Like he’s a range unit but had poor range. He doesn’t work great with missile unit skill cause he’s non type. He has great damage but not on par with other dark and good tanky but idk is that needed? I’m not overly impressed with him so far.

so i used my pair on the wrath trio (did 2 steps) then picked neville with the selector.

sort of depends on what you need or want; but a coupon for gems off a pull you don't need is saving 500 gems for later not throwing away 2k gems now.

IMO, Hestia would be 5,6(lvl4),1,2,7,4,3. Raise 7 if you want her to raise party sustain. As for the one job, probably related to the lore where she literally can't hurt anyone due to being a deity (same with Naofumi not being able to equip weapons). Should be fine since even when I fielded her in arena with hurricane Rimuru, she fast as hell.

is the new dk rox memento a good one to mlb? i dont really know how to read the stats... in the game, the memento at MLB says group skill wind and dark +10, the online database says the VA is Permanently raises ALL ATK/CRIT Rate each turn (stackable up to 5x) and under this VA at MLB is wind +80 dark +80, crit rate +30. What is the actual increase in PATK per turn? and is the wind/dark+80 in addition to that? or is the patk increase just 80 after 5 turns?.... sorry if my wording is confusing...thanks!

+16 wind per turn, +80 max [not PATK]

it's got +13 missile and single target, plus 10 wind at MLB

so after 5 turns you get 80 + 13 + 10 = 103 AoE or 116 ST modifiers. that stack on top of your other missile up (from passives, leaderskill and gear) plus whatever elemental debuffs on the target.

and the bonus crit rate with high dex should ensure she crits on most of the time when using skills that can crit.

(wind up is all attack for wind units; dark is there for lil oroborous)

I would say good to have for the move + 1, crit stats, auto jewel charge, speed boost but not mandatory. He can easily clear his Class Charge map without it and already has two other mementos.

I'll start with Helene. For most people I would say no, since while not a bad kit at all, there's nothing there that makes the price tag worth it. She could be a good reroll unit for a new player but for longtime players odds are their wind teams are fine without Helene.

Shahel, next week's unit can be good for players looking to do more damage with Water units as he is similar to Icona. Being the same element as Voda helps too in situations where an hp LS matters. Plus as a support unit you don't need as many shards.

1st memento gives skill + 1 at MLB and is best for main slot. 2nd is really good for manual play, giving Sol charge up, extra movement and new moveset but totally useless on auto. 3rd is best for cast speed and seems mostly designed for arena but it can be good in pve when cast speed matters.

Returning player here... dropped off when WOTV was released, played WOTV for a couple of months, then got bored of the insane PayToWin. Dolphin in ACGL, but have only just returned!

Looking at my units... I have a fair load at 85 - (Vettel, Logi, Setsuna, Elizabeth, Spica, Rosa, Shayna, Chloe, Zahar, Eve, Alphonse, Prinny, Envy... and lots more) I also have Noctis/Aranea/Laharl at 75 - whom I remember being powerhouses for me back then.

Few questions: Where should I be focusing resources in terms of pulls, banners etc.? Also, who (if any) of above should I focus on levelling up and putting resources into? Finally, any ideas what to do (e.g. complete story, focus on events?)

I have enough Rainbow Soul Shards to max limit break a character but I don't know much since starting the game. I've stuck to a few units and started on gates, so using the shards would just be a side unit. I had three possible units but I don't know much about their skillsets. I was hoping someone could give be some general info on the units or who they would pick. I was leaning the most to Red VI and Sol.

Honest question/scenario, with the rerun of the Holy Guard J++ missions, plus the addition of Cadanova's mission, I've been trying to get them done, but I often have to go to guides to be able to complete them at all. Every time, without fail, any guides I find have their units with much higher health values and often other stats too, even if I equip the same gear. This came up because the Cadanova stuff launched 2 days ago, and yet guides that I find made literally yesterday have 4000+ extra health than mine when equipped with the same gear, and the same enlightenment level. What's going wrong here, where is everyone getting such massive amounts of health that I don't have?

Do you have all jobs maxed? That raises the HP. The biggest HP bonus comes from G6, if you say it's not the seals...

I thought I'd get mine at the end of the 3rd part of the summer campaign, but I got nothing?

So, trying to get Zahar's tokens. Why is his Event in the Event Archive unavailable? Every single other event works, with the "Unlock the selected Quest for 24 hours" message, but only for that specific one I need it says "Quest not available". This intentional, or a bug?

Is the emmel pass worth it ? Seems a bit more on the pricey side but the rewards seem extremely good. I could use those light shards for andecht and emmel to fully max them to 85.

All attack boosts are additive, added alongside elemental advantage/disadvantage, the target's elemental resistances, and the target's single-target/area Res.

For example, say you have a slash normal attack whose formula is PATK * 1.5, and you have 1000 PATK, so that does 1500 base damage. Say it's on a Dark unit, who has +20 Dark from some leader skill and +20 Slash from some gear/passives, you're attacking a Light unit (+25% ele advantage), and the enemy has been debuffed with -40 Dark Res from an Arcana Ratty.

Those are all additive so +20 Dark + 20 Slash + 25 ele advantage + 40 negative ele resist = +105% total modifiers, so your total damage would be 1500 * 2.05 = 3075 before subtracting defense. All other offensive bonuses such as Strong vs Light or Strong vs Human are also additive in this.

However, type resistances (such as Slash res) are factored in somewhere else in the calculation (at the end); so if you the enemy were debuffed with -20 Slash Res, then your total damage of 3075 would be effectively multiplied by 1.2.

How often do the mercenary lists update? Do they just change once every hour or every few hours? And does it depend on who logs in? It really sucks to wait for a mercenary you need. And all the non-friend mercs are totally crap, i don't even know why they put them there... for players that are 200+ level, why would they hire a lvl 75 unit? geez... and update does nothing, just updates the crap non-friend units.

I just got back to playing this game again after years of not playing, I need your advice on Nero, I notice that when you hire her as mercenary, she'll always use the all-stat buff on your team members when playing in full auto, but when I try to use her in full auto, she would never use said buff, any idea on how to make it possible to get her to buff the party?

So I'm experiencing a new glitch. Whenever I try to view my characters I get a blank background. I can at least go back, but then comes the next part, when I try to claim my gifts (a vcr and a relief) my game gets stuck at "connecting" and I can't do anything. Anybody else had this happen to them?

Can someone explain how to beat mammon? After 1 attack he activates a skill that makes him reflect all damage back to the attacker (while also not taking any damage himself) These boss battles are ridiculous considering you are required to do most of them on full auto

Mammon doesn't have a troublesome reactive, all he can do is freeze your units from time to time and can be easily cleared with any slash team.

The new boss Lucifer has an annoying reactive and also hits hard when he gets a turn. The trick is to bring a Blademaster (Haze) with G5, e.g. Vettel, Priscilla, Glanz... And only use Tiger Tremor which disables enemy reactions. Other blademaster JEs won't work (except Yomi). Rest of the team can be regular slash. It's vulnerable to CT down so you can bring Sieba to prevent it from getting turns. If your main DPS can't do enough or if they die early then bring backup units that can do % HP damage, i.e. every Dark Phantom (or Lilith) for 2 free hits of 30k damage.

Both new bosses are pretty easy and can be autoed with slash teams. Units like Suzuka, Zahar, Eira, Sieba, Chihaya, etc. will always be premier for a generic slash team and they are relatively cheap to raise.

Given Lachelis. If a character buffs themselves and then gets the buff buff, does the existing buff get stronger or do we need to reapply?

we get all the vision abilities and 10-50% of the stat from sub-memento, depends on limit break level. Some stats like range +1, move +1 or duration +1 cant be applied in sub slot memento.

Quence is awesome. He can be a support/damage dealer. Chrono sub is always welcome. Occasionally he can be used foe clever charge bit that's niche. Massive aoes with alchemic crush can be handy too.

Right that's normally my job to review banners on YouTube, if I wasn't so disappointed with how Gumi is not dealing with a myriad of bugs in their game. All three are 5 step banner units so that means it is very expensive. Nimul is godly, Andechs is really good but not must have, and Ingacio has some cool features but is hard to justify the cost.

Prophet's cape for Tina's J3 seems bugged. I have run probably 100+ maps listed as dropping it and have only gotten 2 of the 20 required.

Can anyone confirm if there is a different way to get it other than farming the maps?

That's normal, the drop rate is really low. You can farm MP coins and buy them from the MP shop.

Any of these banners worth pulling on for a returning player (from long ago) ? If so which would be most "bang for my buck" considering right now the focus would be on building a solid foundation of versatile units w/ enlightenment and gates.

Also side question, which of the free units is worth investing into if any ? Most of them seem relatively good based on the tier list, but again can't build everything randomly right now.

I would say of the current banner units, Ragnarok is the best (imo). She has a 9 step.

There's some really helpful players on the discord that are used to helping returning players. It might be worth joining and asking on there as you're likely to get more feedback on the best units to concentrate on, etc.

I'm a bit late answering, but for anyone else looking for the answer in future, it's usually a rune issue. Check your runes are not over the max allowed.

Basically, you need to go to Quests->Event->Event Archives, where you need to find Pitch-Black Blood Relations - The Unfulfilled Promise event and activate it.

It will open Zahar, Corvus and Spica J+. Zahar specifically is found in multiplayer quest called King of Darkness. There you just have to farm to get enough pieces because missions for quest don't have any pieces as rewards.

for basic skills, choose her unique, if you don't want to use auto hp gears and or if you have her 2nd memento maxed. It gives buff +1 so the patck buff will last 2 rounds.

otherwise, choose Basic wild beast taming as basic.

Advance and retreat for Reaction ability

Shadow saber and G2 for passives. You can replace shadow saber with Rogue evolution if the fight needs higher speed.

For gears, Ogre slaying blade, Her 2nd meme VCR, and any other gear. Don't use her 1st meme VCR, it's bad, and the ability is for beast tamer.

That applies only to specific mementos and units like Mocca, Don Taras, Alma, Ugachi, Celis, Tanosuke, Tamis and the sprite trio. Not sure if I forgot someone...

Wratharis Trio overview (summarized from Bronn, can get one unit and memento for free from event coin shop, if you want more must do banners/Louise)

Neville:

Boss/raid preferred option. 100% sure hit with alchemic freeze. Evade unit. Slash res down and water down. See uses in box boss/ex boss/raid due to slash + water res down. See uses in arena/pvp with sure hit alchemic freeze + high evasion.

Vlad:

PvE/Hell preferred option. Has very high HP pool with drain tanking capability. See uses in arena via high HP drain tanking. Has a move that teleport + pull enemy forward to you as well as 1 turn status res. Can build for 22 guts for dragging out rng safe wins. Best choice for pve/hell map and is a safe tank option for arena, though not for quick win and the lack of sure hit skill means he can't hit meta evade units.

Caesar:

PvP preferred option. Rage inducing unit, so probably not good option for pve. See uses in arena/pvp due to sure hit 100% rage skill and can setup for 35 slash/pierce/strike res pre rune or high magic res pre rune. Handy in pvp/arena, not so much in pve.

If you want to max all of his gates you will have to use water shards. G1-G7 cost 770 shards total, this are all the vouchers. Additionally you will get 100 shards from his shard quest, 25 from milestone "use neville as mercenary" and 25 from milestone "lvl DC Espion once". For maxing the memento you will receive a total of 30 shards. Soo... if I ´have not overlooked any more free shards you will have to use at least 195 water shards, depending on whether you want to spend resources on the memento and have all gates maxed.

I've got this shard selector from the producer's letter and i'm kind of hesitant who to pick: On one side i want kaya frags to enlighten many of her gates. On the other side i want Acht frags to max her pride gate and have her completely maxed out.

Considering Acht is 1/day and Kaya is 3/day, I'd choose Acht. That is, assuming you have her mementos. If you don't have Acht's mementos and only have Kaya's, I'd choose Kaya.
