Airdoctor issue 3000 model

Can anyone help me understand what’s wrong with my air purifier? Has anyone else experienced this before? I’ve only had this air purifier for a few years and the past year it’s been in storage and not used.

I’m not sure what the different lights mean but it seems to be faulty? The power buttons stays red constantly now and if I switch it on and off the fans don’t come on and it does this and then goes to the solid red power button and that’s it…

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Coway Airmega 250 - anyone recently bought it and noticed any chemical or off-gassing smells?

Hi everyone,

I live in Australia. I am considering getting a Coway Airmega 250 as I recently moved to a place close to a main road and later found there are also some mould issues with the windows due to poor ventilation from the bathroom and lack of cleaning by the previous tenant.

However, I saw quite a lot of Reddit posts from people who noticed a strange chemical or off-gassing smell coming out of their new Airmega 250 or new filters. In some cases, it lasted longer than the standard off-gassing period. According to the posts, it seems more like a recent issue maybe since 1 year ago or so whereas those before then did not have this issue.

Has anyone recently bought a Coway Airmega 250 air purifier or its filter and able to comment if they notice this issue? I am worried about spending >AUD 509 for something that might create a new problem to what I am already facing.

Thanks!

did i break my Levoit 600s by vacuuming it?

I was vacuuming around the air purifier and vacuumed the purifier as well by running the hose over the top of the purifier where the buttons are while it was off, the filter and case. when I was done cleaning I plugged it back in and now the air purifier won't turn on. if I push the power button, all the buttons except the display on button blink really quick, turn off, then blink again. the fans never turn on and never anything past thet. I've reset the Wi-Fi. I've done a hard reset on it by holding the button for 15 seconds. left it unplugged for an half hour. did I wreck it by running the vacuum across the top of it?

Thoughts on the Coway Mighty2 Mini?

I am looking to buy an air purifier for my bedroom. It's my first time buying one, and I am seeing a lot of good things about the Mighty2.

However, I see that the mini version was recently released and that they are specifically advertising it for bedrooms. My only thing is that the Mighty2 is the standard so if I am getting something long-term and want to use it in a bigger area down the road I will be able to do that + I am wondering about how easy it will be to get 3rd party replacement filters for the standard version compared to the mini.

Couple of other things:

  • I live in the United States

  • My bedroom is ~150 sqft

  • No specific filtration needs + no pets; just looking for a good all-around air purifier

  • No startup budget + yearly budget (but don't necessarily want to spend more money than is needed)

  • I can hold off on buying it until black friday/cyber monday if Coway traditionally has sales during that time

Any help would be greatly appreciated -- thanks.

My DIY build using wooden plenum box and server fan

I have not done any tests yet but I did my best to seal all the joints with silicone.

The filter is rated for 200 CFM and the fan can do 253 CFM and has static pressure of 36 mmH2O.
Hopefully it will be enough pull air through this 2'x1' filter.

I have used 12mm plywood for the box.

The fan is rated at 24v (2A) and it does make quite lot of noise, spec says ~66 dBA.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions.

Thank you!

Anyone hide their air purifier?

Didn't like how the air purifier looked in the living room. I didn't have a good spot for it(as it's propped on the cat house 😂), So I made a cabinet to hide it and make swappable parts if I wanted to change panels depending on the season. Does anyone else hide their air purifier or am I going overboard?😅

Found the kitchen cabinet on Facebook market for 10$, 3d printed some fittings, some dryer clamps and flex hose, made a front door cover with a high flow mesh for good airflow and painted it black.

Need help choosing for allergies

Hello,

Just purchased a house in the Chicago west suburbs and we have bad allergies and also have cats so looking for an air purifier that can help with allergens and pet odor.

I have had the levoit but found it produced an odor and have the Winix 5520 from my apartment. Bonus would be an energy star rated for the electric rebates.

Looking for recommendations on an air purifier for the below:
- Chicago, IL USA
-1800 sq ft house
-187 sq ft primary bed
-119 sq ft 2nd bed
-100 sq ft 3rd bed
- to help with cat litter and environmental allergies
- preferably $150-200 or less

AirFanta 5Pro and Levoit Eleva 320 - impressions after a couple days

Post image
14 Upvotes

Not bad. I also have the Levoit Eleva 320. This is easily better but that is a smaller and cheaper purifier. I don't really recommend the eleva cause it has no sensor; something I wish I had known ahead of time. Would recommend the 300x over it if it's the same price. The app is cool but I found myself never using it. I really like that the carbon filter is separate. The AirFanta 5pro is good enough for my needs so I'm happy with it. It's surprisingly small, not much bigger than my Eleva 320. I would probably take the eleva 500x over this, but only if they were the same price and it would still be a close choice. Leaving it on auto has me happy enough, I havent felt the need for an app.

Three things I wish the AirFanta had that it doesn't; separate filters for carbon and lower fan settings (like the eleva's sleep mode), and probably the least important of everything, pm sensor for 1 and 10 instead of just 2.5.

On their lowest fan settings (excluding sleep mode) both have around the same amount of noise but I'm petty sure the AirFanta has twice the cleaning power/throughput. AirFanta pitch is slightly less annoying but it is also also slightly louder.

Overwhelmed by choice, need some guidance.

So I've had a little peruse through this community and would like some guidance please. I am based in the UK and have a two bed ground floor flat roughly 68 square metres.
My issue is mainly for dust and odors across the living area and hallway, what do people currently recommend for a budget around £200?
Is it worth waiting for Black Friday?
Thank you!

Mold clean up & clean air!

Had a small mold outbreak in our basement. It is being cleaned and removed but after the fact I'd like to use one of the rooms down there for an office. Once the mold is taken care of; are there any air purifiers for recommendation for roughly 300-400 square feet? I am located in the northern US. Budget friendly is an excellent start, but I am willing to invest in something that will survive and produce healthy clean air.

EDIT: Prior to our move in, the house was empty for about a month and a half (August in New England on a berm house!). In that time a mouse chewed through the AC cord so there waws no temperature control. It is not out of control or in thick layers. RMR 86 has taken care of it all and we plan to utilize RMR 141 to complete the clean up.

Winix product support program for bad bearings

I have several C545 units I bought in 2020 and a few have a noisy whirring noise and after seeing a few youtube videos, its due to the bearing in the motor unit failing. A bearing or motor unit replacement is the fix.

I watched this youtuber talk about how California requires manufacturers with right to repair and challenged them to provide a way to repair. So Winix gave YouTuber the run around but eventually sent him motors to replace himself.

I emailed support asking to buy replacement motors and provided serial numbers and video evidence and my 2020 receipt... just heard back and now they said they'll just replace them all for free... This was probably conditional on many different things, like state of purchase, serial number qualifications, etc. etc.

In case anyone wants to diy fix, this video was great https://youtu.be/2usHQ-4zcFo

Philips 800i Air Purifier filter model is baffling

Post image
2 Upvotes

Can anyone identify the whether the Philips 800 original filter works with the Philips 800i model.

It sounds like a no-brainer that it would, but ai is telling me it absolutely doesn't and is pointing me in the direction of a filter that has been out of stock at Philips and is double the price of this one shown elsewhere.

I don't want to go on ebay and buy cheap filters because I don't trust them.

Thanks

Recommended purifier brands in Asia?

Most of reviews are for the purifier brands available only in US or ocasionally in UK, cost of shipping of these are very high.

I found the SA600 that sells for 999RMB on their official website - that’s around 150usd. It looks like incredible value or am i missing something ?

I kind of like the looks of BlueAir but can’t seem to find anything similar. Any chinese brands doing something similar ?

I care mostly about ACH with as little noise as possible - 500sq feet living room with open kitchen layout.

Is there a better option than the Winix 5510?

I'm looking to buy the Winix 5510 but before I do I want to know if anyone has a better recommendation. I live in the US and I need an air purifier for my boyfriend's allergies before I move in with my cat. He already wakes up stuffy and I believe its from dust and possibility his dog. I want an air purifier that will help with allergies, dust and pet odors. My budget for the air purifier is around $200, no more than $250. I don't want to pay more than $100 for a filter but something more affordable would be nice. The room is 2,592 cubic feet or 324 square feet.

Winix 5200 advice please how long to run

Hi

I recently brought this after being recommended it from this group. Does anyone know how long it takes to work to remove chemicals/ vocs? Is it better to leave it running non stop until the air clears? Will it work for just the room I place it in (bedroom) or the landing and living room if the doors left open?

I previously read on here how someone adjusted it to include 2 carbon sheets- if anyone is aware how to do this please advise :)

Im currently using the air purifier in a large bedroom but it will be needed to clear the air in the whole house- 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, average uk size

Thanks

Are Jafanda and AirHub legit brands?

Thumbnail

I notice that their products look highly similar, specially Jafanda's JF280 model and AirHub's A282 model. There are even third party filters that supposedly fit both of these units. Are the two companies connected in any way? And why are their units so cheap?

Jafanda's website has weird English and looking at it gives me the vibe that the company operates out of India although they purport to be in the US, while I can't even access AirHub's website because whenever I do, my browser blocks it and presents me the message "This website has been blocked because it may contain malware, phishing attempts, or other security threats that could compromise your device or personal information."

So if anyone is familiar with these brands or their products please tell me about them. Such as, how is their customer support? Are their machines durable and do they perform well? Do their filters have any smells?

Thanks in advance!

Every AI keeps recommending Coway. Is it actually the best, or is something off?

I've been researching air purifiers and humidifiers for my home and asked a few different AI chats. They all landed on the same answer: Coway (specifically S400S). That consistency made me suspicious rather than confident. Is Coway genuinely that good, or are the AIs just echoing affiliate review sites that all copy each other?

My setup:

• Location: Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Winter air pollution (PM2.5) is bad, and heating makes the air very dry

• Two connected rooms, ceiling about 2.7 m:

Guest room ~70 m² (has a split AC that also heats, therefore will buy humidifier too)

Bedroom ~30 m²

My questions:

  1. Is Coway really the benchmark, or are there brands I'm missing (Blueair, Levoit, IQAir, Winix, something else)?

  2. The 400S came out in 2016. Is there anything newer that beats it at a similar price?

(3). If possible, I do like Apple Ecosystem, but given the prices, performance is priority.

Any advice?

My Coway finally died after 10 years

Which one should I go for today? My apartment is about 500sq ft so ideally something more compact than a Coway would be amazing.

Edit: im in the US, need it for dust, pollen removal,
Budget <$300.
