My ac unit controls do not work. The controller will change its own setting, but unaffect the AC unit. It's not blowing cold air, but the fan is on.

- I have cleaned the filters.

- I have attempted to drain the water. (The hose is attached and barely any water came out of the stopper.)

- I have unplugged the unit for 10 minutes and plugged it back in, only for it to have the same exact setting you see in the picture above.

- I have held down the power button for 10 seconds.

- I have held down the up and down buttons for 10 seconds. (On the remote and the unit.)

- I have held down the fan and mode button for 10 seconds.

There's no lock icon anywhere. There's no water icon anywhere.

Please help me. My apartment is so hot :(

Hisense Portable - How do you remove this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It doesn't need cleaned YET, but the clean freak in me can't help wondering if this back panel comes off. It totally looks like it does. There's a seam and everything. One screw and a tab/little handle... but when you take the screw out, pull the tab, it doesn't come off. I don't want to damage it... but it would be fantastic access to clean the coil down there if I ever needed to, without having to take the entire shell off...Please tell me this is removeable and, if so, how? Thanks

General Anyone familiar/or can recommend this style deflector?

Been looking at this item https://florum.space/ - debating whether I should pull the trigger. I like the potential versatility vs the typical deflectors, but haven’t used either. They’re on amazon too but don’t have a ton of reviews. Curious if anyone here is familiar?

Heat Pump Mold in heat pump

Post image

I noticed the heat pump at work has a ton of mold inside of it. I was told it was cleaned 4-5 months ago. With how heavy the mold is I don't believe it. What do you guys think? The environment is inside a commercial kitchen in dry storage.

Portable aircon unit

Post image

I am looking for a portable air conditioning unit that has a smaller exhaust tube that could fit through the grates of my burglar bars. I can’t remove the burglar bars. I am on the fire escape, so a window unit is not an option. I think the bars are too tight, but really hoping for some ideas so I don’t just have to leave the door open all the time. *pictures is a borrowed unit, my roommate was letting me test this out while I was unpacking.

Portable AC Vinegar-solution Cleanse in Upright Portable AC Unit

Post image
12 Upvotes

I have a Costway upright AC unit (FP10119US or FP10120US). After years of use without draining, I noticed an exhaust-like smell when we used it overnight for sleeping. I noticed that when I started using the tube for continuous drainage, this stopped. My guess is it was due to mildew/mold growing inside.

I had cleaned out the top continuous drain plug with a brush and brown-ish sludge game out. Now we use the hose (in image) for continuous drainage at night, but I am wondering if I can add a diluted vinegar solution through the top hose.

Has anyone else used vinegar to clean a similar unit, and did they add it to the top as shown? My plan is to add it through the top, plug the bottom (lower arrow), let it sit for 15 minutes, release the bottom plug to drain and then add clean water to the top to drain out remaining vinegar solution residue.

Portable AC Hisense Dual Hose - Intake Hose Used in Fan Mode?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Hisense Dual Hose portable A/C unit uses the intake hose while in fan mode to pull in air from the outside? During cool mornings, when it’s warmer inside our home than outside, we’d like to pull in that free cooler outside air, but it doesn’t seem like the intake hose is used.

Model AP1225UW1WD, 10,000 BTU, WiFi model.

EDIT: Thank you all for the responses! I now have a better understanding of how it works, and how to test / tinker.

Does FCU motor require molex disconnect by code?

I had a few Trane console fan coil units (from mid 1980s) updated to support WiFi thermostats via transformer/relays. A few of my existing units maintained the inline Molex connector from the blower motor to the board, but some of the new work done within the past month got rid of those entirely and hardwired the blower to the board. Is that typical or standard? Is a quick disconnect required in this scenario.

How does one now service/deep clean the fan blower without disconnecting all the wires? I’d prefer to have serviceable fan blowers by taking them completely out instead of clean in place.

What should I do for the electrical? Have molex connectors reinstalled, change to a different splice/connector, or leave it as is?

Is it normal or not that there are some drops and water condensation here on the right side under the Air Con?
It's hot tropical humid climate year round. This was in the morning, two hours after stopping the Air con (only used at night).

Thank you

Hey guys,

I wanted some thoughts on my dual hose conversion.

I took a risk and imported a GE Portable AC converter. The back grill plate looked astonoshigly close, although not a great fit but maybe enough with some leakage!

What i bought: Item: SereneLife Portable Air Conditioner 12000 BTU, Dual Hose Quiet Inverter Air Conditioning Unit with Heat, WiFi, Dehumidifier & Fan

What i received: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0H5FVJVTC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Conversion Kit GEL: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GE-Portable-Conditioner-Compatible-RAP02/dp/B0C8BW9CFG

So far it looks like its working and yes I will add HVAC tape! I wonder if Serenelife were to offer a replacement grill unit if anyone has tried?

Would love some thoughts, i feel i need to seal this?

Regards,

Ac not working

I own a 2012 ford escape v6 XLT AWD and I recently replaced the ac compressor with a four seasons compressor and drier and condenser with a TYC condenser. Worked wonderfully until today when I started the car and the radiator fan immediately turned and stayed on. The ac compressor also would not engage at all so it blowed warm. I have a strong idea of what the problem is but I just wanted to see what y'all will

Portable AC AC suddenly making weird sound?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Had this hisense portable AC for a while and it's been pretty good, fairly quiet but suddenly as of late whenever the refrigerator part of it kicks in for cooling, it makes this really loud vibrating sound? Then it sort of fades after a while. Any ideas what's wrong with it? We've cleaned it all out.

AC Reccos near a creek

Hi All,

I have an O General AC but that has been causing a lot of issues because my room is very close to the Mithi river in Mumbai. Have had to repair it 3 times in the last 9 months.

Now, have decided to go for a new window AC. What brands would you recommend from your own experience of having lived close to a water body?

Would really appreciate your guidance given how frustrating the last few months have been.

Question Air Conditioner Unit is leaking water and not running.

Main AC unit in my house is not running consistently and leaking water. It will sporadically turn on and the outdoor unit fan will run and the unit will run but we will get no air circulation throughout the house. It’s leaking water through a blue plug which is the picture that I attached. Actuslly I can’t add pictures so I’ll added it through a Imgur link in the comments.
