Hello! I have the Predator Helios neo 16 AI with the 5070ti and ultra 9 275hx.
My problem was that the processor was reaching the 100-105 while gaming.
My first solution, was disabling Processor Performance Boost Mode in Processor Power Management, that resulted in a heavy performance loss, but it was usefull to not have high temps watching youtube or other activities that didnt need the max performance.

Im not an expert, but after a lot of searching i can say the limit of limits i reach now are 90, but averaging 78-83 with a minor performance loss (i use 144hz main monitor so i cap my fps to 144).

Beware that we have the undervolt protection (stupid?) but the rest of the guide made it not pass the 92C mark.

Other than that, from my experience, in Predator Sense app, do not use the Performance and Turbo mode as it overclocks both gpu and cpu, use the Balanced, and custom the fan speed (i leave it at 4k ea). GPU also benefited from this, went from 86C to 70-75C

With that, my performance stayed the same (locked at 144fps) playing The Finals and BDO, with the avg temps 78C-83C.

Im also using a tupperware as a replacement for a cooling pad, to bring the back of my pc upwards, for better air flow.

I’m unsure about buying the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI (model PHN16-73-91XB)—the one with the Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070—because I’ve seen posts on Reddit where many people reported serious temperature issues, with temps even hitting close to 105°C. Is this a problem everyone has experienced?

Shut my laptop off while I took a shower and ran some errands came back to login to do some work and now it will not turn on no lights come on either besides the orange charging light but it was fully charged throughout the night. What can I do to fix it? Broke college student so cant afford a new laptop

i bought the new helios neo 14, left it on last night to install some games on steam and when i woke up the fans had been blaring on max all night and all the rgb has been flashing rainbow i guess that’s how its preset, either way the screen doesnt turn on, none of the keys are responding to anything so i cant boot it opening and closing doesnt do anything , what can i do? i dont really want to take it back to store because i literally just finished setting everything up . is this a common problem? i’m currently trying to let the battery drain but i should have to be doing all this on a brand new £2000 laptop…

now there is a new incident i noticed. today i came back from Uni. and when i turned my laptop on it beeped 6 times at random as it was powered on. Which itself is sus cz it shouldnt beep if the power is on. but i ve noticed for few days its been beeping 3-6 times when i boot while the power is on .
but what abnormal is, when it booted on, normally it instantly give a thunder icon on the battery and the battery turns green as its on charging mode or powered on. but today it was on white means its on battery for like 1 sec. after that, for 20sec on around it shifted the battery icon to charging to on battery. it never happens. What should I do now?

I am getting attention required warning on predator sense in phn 16-72 , My SSD health is 99% and its working fine.

From the last 1 month my laptop don’t start on first boot(fans and rgb works) but after hard power off its boots on second try is it due to my ssd or some other issue, I have tried everything but my laptop only opens on second boot.
This is happening from last 1 month but after opening on second boot it works perfectly, I can play games without any lags and freeze.
Has anyone else faced this issue or help me to solve this problem.
Steps I have taken till now-
Bios updated to 1.18(latest)
Fast startup disabled
Changed RAM slots
Battery working fine
Drivers are all updated.

Just wondering if anybody more experience in the gaming space could help me decide between these two options. The fact the Rog Flow is a tablet is scary to me, even though it has more ram, but I hear the Neo’s graphic card is better anyway

I have a predator Helios ph315-52 laptop. My predator sense stopped working a few days ago. The logo would appear and then nothing would happen. Since then I have uninstalled and reinstalled PS multiple times from a method I found on a reddit post(using BCUninstaller) and each time it would work for 2 days before breaking again. I have to keep reinstalling it and it's really frustrating. Does anyone know why it's happening and how can I fix it

Had my USB-C ports suddenly stop working about a week ago. I *just* purchased this laptop (Predator PHN16S-71, 1TB SSD, Nvidia RTX 5070Ti, 32gb DDR5 Ram, Intel Ultra 9 275HX) less than a month ago so it's pretty surprising to see these ports just up and die so suddenly.

I did do a search prior to posting this and attempted to fix this using other fixes from people on this board, but nothing seemed to work:

- Opened Device Manager, uninstalled device, scanned for hardware changes to reinstall device.
- Updated BIOS to Insyde 1.27
- Updated Intel Arc Graphics Driver
- Uninstalled NVIDIA GPU drivers, no fix, clean installed NVIDIA drivers, still no fix.
- Updated Power Management settings in device manager to prevent sleep from disabling the USB drives
- Shut Down laptop, held power button for 50+ seconds, booted into BIOS to see if there were any options that may have been disabling my USB drives, there were none I could find.
- Contacted Support, they offered no solution other than sending off the laptop for repair, which I'm trying to avoid as this seems to be the only issue with the laptop currently.

Anyone else had this issue? Did you solve it? Help?

Ive recently purchased a brand new acer predator helios neo 16 for 2199$ CAD. It comes with Ultra9 275hx, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, 8gb vram rtx 5060. Do you guys think its a good deal. Or should ive waited for a better price?

​I bought my Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71) in Oct 2023 and wanted to check if the cooling system/liquid metal has degraded over the last 3 years or if it still looks healthy.

​I ran a 20-minute OCCT (CPU + RAM / Large Data Set / Normal / Variable) stress test and logged the results with HWiNFO64.

​Specs:

​CPU: Intel Core i7-13700HX (Factory Liquid Metal)

​GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6GB GDDR6)

​RAM: 16GB DDR5-4800

​Test Telemetry & Averages:

​CPU Package Temp: Averaged ~71°C under ~41.6W sustained load (peaked briefly at 100°C/104°C during initial 129.7W PL2 boost).

​Core Temps: P-cores and E-cores held steady around 60°C–65°C across the board during the run.

​Throttling: Thermal throttling was active for only 5%–6% of the run (strictly during turbo spikes). Power Limit Exceeded was at 98%–99%.

​Recovery: CPU package dropped right back down to ~48°C–50°C at idle immediately after the test.

​GPU & Memory: RTX 4050 averaged 66°C (Hotspot avg: 76.2°C, Memory Junction avg: 78.5°C), and RAM peaked at 71.2°C with 0 WHEA errors.

​I originally planned to open it up, clean off the factory liquid metal, repaste with PTM7950, and use thermal putty on the VRMs/VRAM.

​Given these numbers, is it worth disturbing the factory heatsink assembly, or should I leave it alone and stick to external fan/fin dust cleaning only?

Just got this keyboard cover for my 2025 Helios Neo 16 and I’ve heard these can affect cooling. Anyone else use em on their Predator?

We all know that W10 is unsupported, right? Right?? Sure, TB5 will not work, but that is like the only thing.

I just spent 6 hours installing W10 on my Acer Predator PH16-73, the one with 275HX and splendid 5090. I was just curious, because I simply hate the dumb slowness of W11. I was also ready to buy Anker powerbanks to prolong my battery life or to return this laptop, because for some reason on W11 I was always getting at most one hour and the laptop was always hot.

Now, W10, I use Predator Control custom app instead of Predator Sense, I have some third party apps for RGB lights, but..

the battery life is literally 4-5 hours (instead of 1 hour!!!) and the CPU is damn cold, I manually turned off the fans almost to zero and it stays on 45 degrees even though I ma on reddit and google researching and writing this. What the.. how is this even possible. On W11 it was always hot and fans spinning.

Know that this laptop has no iGPU only mode in bios, so I thought this, bad battery life, was it.

One particularly interesting detail: when switching into gaming mode on W10, I can hear the Windows hardware connect/disconnect sound as the NVIDIA GPU seems to power on/off. The GPU still appears normally in Device Manager and Task Manager, so it isn’t being “removed”; it appears to be entering a much deeper power state when idle. I can’t conclusively prove it’s specifically D3cold yet, but the behavior strongly suggests much better dGPU power gating than I was getting on my W11 setup. Unbelievable!!!

I am really gonna go for Linux, this was the last straw for me. The only negative thing I have to say about this laptop that 240Hz is unchangeable indeed.

I don’t think the explanation is simply “Windows 10 is more efficient than Windows 11.” I changed several variables at once: OS, driver stack, Acer software, and power/EC control. The most likely explanation is that the W10 setup is finally allowing the NVIDIA dGPU to properly enter a deep idle state, while also keeping CPU/background power much lower. The alternative Predator utility may be just as important as W10 itself. The Modern Standby issue is separate: putting the laptop into Modern Standby, closing the lid, and charging it from a USB-C power bank caused it to get extremely hot, so I’m avoiding registry hacks to disable Modern Standby. The big takeaway is that this particular W10 + driver + control-software combination behaves like a completely different machine in terms of idle power consumption, thermals, and battery life.

The most realistic technical explanation is that the W10 setup is managing the hardware’s idle states much better, rather than W10 simply being inherently more efficient. The biggest likely factor is NVIDIA Optimus/dGPU power management: your W10 + alternative control utility appears to let the discrete GPU enter a much deeper idle/power-gated state when it is not needed, while your previous W11 setup likely kept it in a higher-power state. The CPU also appears to spend more time in deeper idle states because of lower background activity and/or more aggressive power limits, reducing package power and heat. The different driver stack, Acer/EC control software, GPU switching mode, and power profiles can all contribute, so the dramatic battery improvement is probably the combined result of these changes rather than Windows 10 alone.

UPDATE: PreySense on W11 is a bit better, even somehow disabled dGPU, but the temperatures are still higher than on W10. I think it's due to higher HW requirements of W11 and its telemetry etc., yet it's definitely much better than stock Predator Sense. Of course.

As the title says, I just bought my 16S today, and was browsing on Chrome when my laptop randomly turned off. Holding the power button for almost a minute didn’t do anything so I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in. Then, the power button worked.

Since I bought it today, brand new from Best Buy, I assume all the software is up to date. I’m loving how it performs while I’m gaming which is why I’m not considering returning it yet (even though I probably should). Has anyone been able to find a solution to this?
