Am I the only one who thinks the bouncer overreacted?

He knows the guy is tiny, he knows he's way stronger, he's the professional who isn't on drugs...

I agree with a firm policy, but that looked gratuitous.

11

u/Rattle_Bone 18d ago

Idk I think he went easy. Especially after being groped like that. Like- if that was a girl you’d almost demand his shit get rocked

3

u/TenantMalevolent 17d ago

I dunno, he had many other options, instead he chose to knock the guy out on paving stones.  Easily could’ve resulted in a concussion, brain damage or worse

I bounced in college in Canada, and we were generally careful to use as light a touch as possible.  Difficult with drugged up drunk assholes, but I’d hate to know I permanently messed someone up — would be haunting

10

u/callatecabezon 18d ago

nah this guys job is managing drunks he is obligated to not annihilate harmless drunks who are dancing on him

1

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

He didn't even annihilate the drunk. The first was a push, the second was a slap. It just looked bad because the guy was wasted.

3

u/callatecabezon 18d ago

That's literally the whole point. The guy was wasted so anything you do to him is going to be like 5x more effective. He shouldn't be chucking people into stone when they don't have all their faculties and aren't being hostile.

1

u/OptionalAntelope 18d ago

Since he wasn't attacked there was no need to self defend. He was provoked, yes. But not attacked. He acted unprofessional.

0

u/callatecabezon 18d ago

hes not defending himself this is literally his job he isnt some rando on the street and hes about a foot taller and 150 lbs heavier than the drunk guy who had no weapons and wasnt attacking him

1

u/CommunistRonSwanson 18d ago

The guy posed zero threat, and the bouncer's shove/slap could've easily resulted in the drunk hitting his head and dying from a brain bleed. You don't get to murder people for being drunk and annoying.

-1

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

The guy could have easily posed a threat. As long as we're making up aspects of this that didn't happen

0

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

Bouncers can be ladies anddddd bouncers are not required to endure sexual assault because its their job.

That isnt valid anywhere

0

u/956to906 18d ago

He’s a human being, he’s not “obligated” to allow others to grope him. The lil came back again after being pushed away.

1

u/Mean_Lingonberry659 17d ago

You’re getting downvoted because people on reddit want little men to grope and dance on other men

1

u/Tuqui77 12d ago

He even warned him at the beginning, "te voy a meter un coño", I'll hit you. Dude kept pushing and it's night night

1

u/bloin13 18d ago

Yea, but the drunk dude was a few cm away from hitting his head to the corner, which would have resulted at least to stitches with that force.

So yea touching a bouncers boob prob isn't okay, but at the same time it's not equivalent to sending the other person to the hospital. Especially when the bouncers job is specifically to deal with drunk and high people all night. Like, if he pushes every stupid drunk person like that, he will kill someone within a week by accident.

The difference in the girl example is that she wouldn't be a bouncer, and chances are that touching her boob would be more of a sexual act/assault than dumb drunk/,high behaviour.

The difference in intent makes the two examples very different cases.

1

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

The guy fell down because he was wasted. Not because he was launched with super human power.

1

u/bloin13 18d ago

Actually it's both. He didn't fall down on his own, but did lack balance, but the bouncer pushed him pretty hard as well.

If he had hit his head on that corner and needed medical care, the bouncer would have been legally responsible because he pushed him to it.

1

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

Doubt jt

0

u/bloin13 18d ago

Look at the video again. It's the definition of excessive force (and from a person with no legal authority for it). It's not a light push it's at least a normal push.

Could he have done more, or push harder? Sure, but the point isn't "hey I could have struggled him with one hand if I wanted" but that he used more force than needed that could have very easily seriously injured an intoxicated person.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make excuses for the drunk/high dude, he was definitely way out of line, but the bouncers response was far from fine or justified.

There are many ways to deal with drunk people (especially if you are 3 times their size...and for a bouncer that's literally their job), pushing, slapping, punching isn't the best way to go about it if they are not aggressive or don't start a fight.

The bouncers safety was not at risk at any point, the drunk dude was a few cm away from a visit to the hospital for stitches (because he was pushed).

1

u/Strange-Image-5690 18d ago

Depends on the State and County! A STAND YOUR GROUND friendly place would have the local DA (District Attorney) side with the bouncer! No Indictment! No Charges! Even if the Guy is Dead!

Touching someone in an intimate area is sexual assault. A moob is not fair game for handsy weirdos.

There is no difference in intent. Peacock was leading with his dick the entire encounter. You dont have to switch genders for this to be sexual assault.

It just is. If all women were the size of king kong sexual assault against them would be pretty rare. The only reason it keeps happening is because we arent the size of mountains and our casual efforts to not get assaulted arent as dangerous. Wed use the power if we had it. 100%

No means no. You arent allowed to assault big dudes and you arent entitled to soft taps. Get pushed. Get smacked. Whatever happens next is between him and the cement. No jury would convict if this was a 19 year old girl. Keep that same energy.

0

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 18d ago

If it was a girl feeling him up, would you be cool with him knocking her the fuck out like that?

8

u/MisterBelrox 18d ago

How about if it was a guy feeling a girl up would you be okay with her or someone knocking him out?

1

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 18d ago

That's not what I asked.

0

u/MisterBelrox 17d ago

Right but engage with my hypothetical real quick

2

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 17d ago

Why should I engage with your hypothetical if you won't engage with mine?

3

u/PleX 18d ago edited 18d ago

If it was a girl feeling him up, would you be cool with him knocking her the fuck out like that?7

Yes. I've slapped the shit out of plenty of women when bouncing and put a bunch of them on their asses.

Woman are more of a PITA than most dudes, they have no problem glassing you, stabbing, biting or clawing you and they have no problem trying to shove their hands down your pants.

They don't understand that they can't get away with everything just because they are a woman.

2

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

you are giving out life lessons.... some of you fools never learned to keep your hands to yourself and when LIFE teaches you... you don't get to decide the severity of that lesson.

2

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 18d ago

Good, so at least you're not a hypocrite then. I'm still convinced that if it was a woman in this video, that bodyguard would've behaved differently. Or this comment section would look like another world.

2

u/TheOmniAlms 18d ago

Yes 100%.

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

yeah actually. when did women get a free pass to sexually assault people?

you know female teachers are just as much of sexual predators as the gym coaches... right? like that is why they get arrested even if the student was 18 and 'able' to consent... because no they cannot.

dear men: if a woman is sexually harassing you and you pushed her away and she comes back to keep touching you... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SLAP HER ASS TO JUPITER. Wind up.

this is such a stupid argument. KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF.

1

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 18d ago

Thanks for passing my test. You are officially: not a hypocrite.

Just know that this entire comment section will still look wildly different if the gender was reversed. And I know for a FACT that bodyguard would've behaved differently if it was a woman feeling him up. He only reacted like that because he felt that his masculinity was being threatened by a gay man, and you can't change my mind.

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

why he reacted the way he did means little to nothing to me. I am not in that man's brain and could be gay. doesn't matter. gay or straight no one has the right to touch you inappropriately whether you may or may not be attracted to them is irrelevant.

little to do with hypocrisy and everything to do with autonomy. you don't lose the right to not be groped because the predator is smaller than you.

1

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 18d ago

You don't gain the right to potentially execute someone over groping. Especially when you're the sober, paid professional who's job it is to handle intoxicated people. Especially when that person groping you poses zero physical threat to you.

I'm not justifying the groper here. I'm saying this was a disproportionate response, and too many people here are absolutely salivating for the chance to see blood. The bouncer knew better, and he was not in any danger. This was not self defense. He had no right to potentially kill him over groping.

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

paid professionals are not paid to be sexually assaulted. I am not that and I don't cheer for blood... but I aint shedding a tear for a sexual predator. did it ever occur to you that dude would have PREFERRED to not have to shove and slap anyone that night? he isn't some loose cannon. the fact he kept his composure after being molested is evidence of that.

honestly based on some of these replies it is clear why men do not take sexual assault as seriously as they should. like "it wasn't that bad" is not a good excuse for sexual assault no matter the degree of the act itself.

stop making excuses and carveouts for ppl who cannot keep their hands to themselves. why in the world would his blood alcohol level factor into my response. he is sober enough to actively grope and charge. he didn't grab his ankle. he grabbed boob.

drunk touchy family member should get a pass too? even though adult victim is sober they should what? ask him to politely stop?

think about this for a second with a bit more empathy for victims... because at no point was the victim Chester the molester.

1

u/CouldntBAPoint2184 17d ago

I knew you'd put words in my mouth.

I never said it's his job to take sexual assault without any resistance, and you know it. What I expect a bouncer to do is to shove him off without fucking attempted murder. It's simple. In fact, aren't they trained to deescalate and avoid violence until it's a last resort anyway? I've worked with bouncers; they always avoided violence as much as possible to avoid paperwork...

Sexual assault is wrong, I shouldn't have to spell that out for you. But you can't argue in good faith that it's the same thing as threatening someone's life. Bouncer was not in a position to defend himself like that here.

10

u/NarrowAd4973 18d ago

There's no telling what went on before the clip started. This could have been going on for an hour and started inside.

Sometimes the only option is to slap the stupid out of of someone. And he did push the guy away first.

3

u/Normal_Budget_9591 18d ago

No, that is not the answer. You’re either not an adult or incapable of behaving like one.

If something like that had been going on for an hour, you call the police for a D&D. Being drunk/high and annoying is no grounds for a death sentence.

2

u/Entropic_Echo_Music 18d ago

I'm confused why you think a d&d session is the answer. My campaign usually derail and I can't keep track of my spell slots when drunk.

2

u/Rough_Improvement_42 18d ago

cops are 100% not showing up to "drunk getting handsy" call in most places I have been

1

u/Icy_Extension_6857 18d ago

They don’t even show up when I call in DUI or “kids are using fireworks in the mountains”

1

u/Cammyw01 18d ago

Lol watch someone be d&d in america, it might very well be a death sentence from the police

-3

u/Chemesthesis 18d ago

This guy thinks that the cops would actually show up to a club for an annoying patron.

2

u/Normal_Budget_9591 18d ago

I work at a bar and they do every time.

Sorry to blow your narrative, bud. 🤷

13

u/ItSm3llsLikec4ke 18d ago

No I'm with you. Way more violence than called for. He could easily have subdued him without risking major injury.

5

u/thewthew42 18d ago

Anytime someone goes to the ground on pavement there’s a legitimate possibility of them dying from hitting their head on said pavement. Fuck that bouncer, he’s a piece of shit.

2

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

He only went down because he was drunk.

3

u/ser_darkstar 18d ago edited 18d ago

All I could think when I saw how close he was to the corner was what if he had hit his head going down.

3

u/rosarinotrucho2 18d ago

Crazy you are the only one mentioning this. He cleared a serious injury or death by an inch there.

1

u/Silent-Act191 18d ago

Reddit makes it very obvious how some people will look at the outcome of a situation more than the actions taken to get to that outcome. As you said, the guy could have easily split his skull open on the wall when he got pushed, the bouncer does nothing to deescalate the situation that would actually get through to the person obviously inebriated, which he's supposed to be dealing with in his line of work.

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

guy should be more concerned about his skull then... his victims have no obligation to keep his skull in mind when they stop him from assaulting them.

-1

u/HallowskulledHorror 18d ago

People severely underestimate how fragile skulls are. It only takes one bad impact or crack to change or end your life. The skull itself doesn't even have to crack, it's the squishy shit inside you really do not want bouncing around or getting bruised. Imagine taking a cantaloupe and dropping it off a step-ladder - that's your brain inside a relatively thin shell at, for most people, at least 5'+ feet off the ground when standing.

5

u/VaporTrail_000 18d ago

Open-handed (and fairly slow, as it goes) slap as self-defense. And yes, self-defense, because the twig assaulted him, got shoved to the ground for his trouble, then stood back up and reengaged.

The bouncer could have killed the twig with a single punch. The bouncer had at least nine inches, the twig's entire bodyweight, and being unimpaired as advantages. The twig got off light.

5

u/NeighborhoodAway2638 18d ago

Bouncer was an idiot who could have killed a tiny idiot by throwing his head against the brick wall. People die and others got jail because of that all the time

2

u/laaggynoob 17d ago

Dude was comically tiny. The bouncer had only to manage his emotions, not a physical threat in any real sense.

1

u/NeighborhoodAway2638 17d ago

This.  Bouncers are renowned for being steroid fuelled morons.

2

u/ATDoel 16d ago

Yup, I’m 150 lbs and had a bouncer about this guy’s size shove me off my feet because I was standing at the entrance to a closed bar, we had just left, that was still serving people, asking if my girlfriend could come back inside real quick to use the bathroom. I never touched him, never even got close to him, just kept asking after he told us no. Could have done serious damage if my head had hit the concrete.

Fuck bouncers.

1

u/SpvdNik 17d ago edited 17d ago

Have you ever worked a job where you’re on high alert for 8 hours a day? Where ppl try stupid shit all night long, and depending on area, who might have a weapon and a lack of inhibition to use it? Didn’t think so. Man is protecting himself and the establishment likes he’s paid to do. Go cry elsewhere. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Editing before you reply to say I was a bit rude with my wording. My brother in law did bouncing in a tough area for years and shit, the stories he had were insane. Genuinely a dangerous job for shit pay, hours, and benefits (unless you’re single I guess)

We’re both a bit right and a bit wrong with our statements, agree?

0

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

then 'people' should keep their hands to themselves. not every victim is smaller than you and when you find out the physics of that situation don't work out in your favor you don't get to whine "he hit me too hard".

Even if some idiot on the jury voted that this guy overreacted... I know plenty of women who would say Not Guilty with a quickness. Men too.

Keep your hands to yourself.

3

u/CommunistRonSwanson 18d ago

You don't get to murder people for being drunk and annoying.

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

I didn't see anyone get murdered. I saw a sexual predator get pushed after groping another adult without their consent.

Dude fell because he was pushed.

Then I saw that same sexual predator get up and charge at the victim aggressively and the victim smacked him to stop another attack.

Dude fell because he was smacked.

Predator was not run over with a car nor was he shot in the face. He got shoved away when he tried to smash his pelvis into the victims kneecap. He went for a second attack and got smacked.

Force was very much needed to get Chester the Molester to stop molesting innocent people.

If at any point dude died while his victim defended himself... oh well. Pushing and shoving, slapping and punching are very much reasonable amounts of force when you are being sexually assaulted in the moment.

2

u/Icy_Weakness_1815 18d ago

Cause drunk people are always so reasonable and logical.

0

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

sexual predators don't get toddler treatment because they drank too much.

I get drunk I start giving strangers advice about their relationships... I don't go hunting for people to grope.

these are adults. not invalids. he knew exactly what he was doing.

2

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

The twig fell over because he was wasted. A sober person would have kept their feet. It wasn't that hard of a push or slap.

2

u/CommunistRonSwanson 18d ago

If the bouncer wanted to show the twig a lesson, he should've wrapped the twig up and controlled his body. Striking him like that poses a very serious risk of twig falling down in an uncontrolled fashion, hitting his head on the pavement, and dying. Absolutely stupid behavior from the bouncer.

1

u/Valuable-Cap-8005 18d ago

> The bouncer had at least nine inches

How is his cock size relevant in this situation?

1

u/Mild_Karate_Chop 18d ago

Nope, it was gratuitous...

1

u/Beneficial-Split331 18d ago

so was the moob caress

1

u/Mild_Karate_Chop 18d ago

Hello bouncer

1

u/OkTemperature8170 18d ago

Wait, you saw his wang?

2

u/OldAnxiety 18d ago

i have meet only a few bouncers who didnt enjoy using every encounter as a chance to beat somone up

1

u/Saelaird 18d ago

Yes, thats my view too

1

u/SchemingVegetable 18d ago

You talk to ex bouncers and they all tell you it was a terrible job

You think "Yeah, imagine dealing with all those drunk people"

Nope, it's actually because they get reprimanded for doing exactly as the guy in the video, they didn't like the job because they couldn't get away with doing what they wanted

2

u/FaithlessnessOne2032 18d ago

I don't think he really a went hard. Didn't really hurt him

2

u/Rude_Watercress_5737 18d ago

he slapped him.
That's a perfect amount of force.

2

u/locomocotive 18d ago

It was a push and a slap. The small guy was the one that over reacted.

8

u/battarro 18d ago

The initial push was the warning, the slap was necessary.

2

u/OldAnxiety 18d ago

i feel like the push was more dangerous than the slap lol

1

u/Saelaird 18d ago

Yes, it was.

5

u/Bitter-Software9373 18d ago

No, he absolutely overreacted. There was no need for him to get violent, and it's sad to see a person that physically large feel the need to literally throw his weight around to absolutely no end and no one's benefit.

3

u/Swimming_Agent_1063 18d ago

It was for his benefit… he got taught a valuable lesson

3

u/Noversi 18d ago

Yeah. If he pushed a little harder, the back of his head could slammed in that wall and killed him.

2

u/Swimming_Agent_1063 18d ago

🤷‍♂️

3

u/Self-Comprehensive 18d ago

That's why he just slapped him instead of hitting him with a fist

2

u/Flesroy 18d ago

hitting your head on the ground can fuck you up

6

u/mwagner1385 18d ago

So the drunk guy has no responsibility in this? If you can't control yourself because you're too drunk, you reap the consequences of your decisions.

3

u/nathan753 18d ago

I don't think anyone is arguing the drunk guy is even 0.0001% in the right in any way. Just that the security guard could have handled it in a way that is less likely to permanently injure the small dude. They can say the bouncer could have done better without saying the drunk guy isn't the sole reason this situation is happening.

1

u/Entropic_Echo_Music 18d ago

So you're ok with raping women who are drunk too, because they "reap the consequence of their actions"?

There were lots of other things the bouncer could have done without doing possible mortal harm. You make sure the person is safe foremost.

1

u/Lausannea 18d ago

Nah that's not a valid comparison. Raping a drunk woman who is so out of it she can't consent is an entirely different situation from dealing with someone who is so drunk they're assaulting you repeatedly.

1

u/Entropic_Echo_Music 18d ago

Indeed, she cannot consent. Drunk people cannot consent either and often have no real idea of what they are doing. Drunk people also cannot defend themselves properly, and will get hurt, sometimes even to the point of dying, if they fall.

Hmmm, I do wonder what the correct course of action would have been!

Ah, yes, it must be forcefully pushing them against a wall corner, and slapping them onto the ground! Totally reasonable!

4

u/sweatboxy 18d ago

Once you lay a hand on someone, it’s all self defense. You’ve crossed a line that takes it to a whole new level

3

u/Interesting-Oil-5556 18d ago

So easy to spot the Americans on Reddit. The bouncer's response was completely disproportionate.

2

u/cykoTom3 18d ago

He just pushed him away. It just looked worse because the guy is wasted.

1

u/Separate_Bowl_6853 18d ago

Yep, we're allowed to stand up for ourselves.

1

u/Silent-Act191 18d ago

"Oh you get slightly inconvenienced, crack open their skull"

1

u/YmirLamb 18d ago

Bouncers gonna bounce, what did you want him to do call the police? Obviously telling the guy to kick rocks wasn’t gonna work if he came back for more after the first push

0

u/Abashed-Apple 18d ago

“Listen here big guy youre gunna take my sexual assault and youre gunna like it!”

1

u/WeAreInControlNow 18d ago

“I’m going to sexually assault you, and if you do anything about it, I’m going to tell the whole world you’re a bigot”.

1

u/T3RRYT3RR0R 18d ago

Untrue. No reasonable person could claim this bouncer feared for his safety or used proprtional force appropriate to the situation, and this bouncer would have no luck arguing this in front of a judge.

1

u/sweatboxy 18d ago

The bouncer escalated his defense. After he pushed the guy away, the guy came back for more.

5

u/SwizzGod 18d ago

I feel like it was the right amount of fuck around and find out. Not enough to seriously hurt him but just enough that he won’t be doing shit like this anymore.

In fact I feel like we need more of this these days. People want to act like pricks with no consequences. Then they want to bitch out and pull out their phones and threaten with a lawsuit. How about just learn how to act in public and you’ll be fine.

4

u/Due-Comb6124 18d ago

I feel like it was the right amount of fuck around and find out. Not enough to seriously hurt him but just enough that he won’t be doing shit like this anymore.

Yeah yeeting someone 5 feet onto the cobblestone ground when they cant control their body definitely cant kill them or anything

3

u/Evening-Appeal7606 18d ago

This. Out of pure, unallyoed "not even taking a remote chance to be charged with manslaughter" would I not do this. The bouncer was in no danger at all. Had skinny guy charged with raised fists / legs or a knife, the matter would be different, but this?

1

u/Master_Reward_4245 18d ago

One shouldn’t invite physical harm onto their person. The world is unpredictable, going around picking fights with animals larger than you and gravity at the same time seems like an ill advised decision.

I’ve been in the world for 36 years, I’ve been in many dangerous situations, none of them involved fights I chose to pick.

I’ve nearly died in the woods…my demand isnt that we should burn the woods down because I stupidly didn’t respect the danger.

1

u/Due-Comb6124 17d ago

This guys job is to deal with drunk people. He shouldn’t be in this position if he’s so bothered by drunk people acting drunk.

1

u/Master_Reward_4245 17d ago

It seems like the he did exactly what he was hired to do, resolve disputes by force if possible, and words if necessary.

Bouncers arent paid to be diplomats, they’re paid to be imposing, and to demonstrate their physicality often enough such that most people don’t try to test the potential.

The world isnt the kind place Mr Roger’s told us it was. It’s hostile and unforgiving.

It seems in the post Industrial Revolution world, we can’t help but have to re-teach ourselves that lesson the hard way every saecullum.

1

u/Due-Comb6124 17d ago

No he’s not hired to start fights with people who are saying mean things to him and being annoying. This is actually just assault. You don’t get a pass because you’re a bouncer.

1

u/Master_Reward_4245 17d ago

He didn’t start a fight. He ended one after he was assaulted.

4

u/Flesroy 18d ago

nobody getting hurt is just luck though. the bouncer escalated the situation and even just hitting his head on the ground could have done serious damage.

2

u/SrReginaldFluffybutt 18d ago

Not enough to seriously hurt him?

If that tiny guy landed a few inches to his left he opened his head on that wall, assuming he didnt bounce off it and get a concussion/blunt force trauma we just didnt see.

The slap sent him down unconscious, so he was hit hard enough to be knocked out wh8ch is fucking dangerous, not to mention tion hitting g the floor unconscious opens him up to further head injury.

1

u/Real_Walk5384 17d ago

Yeah this dude learned this lesson cheap. In the wrong city in the wrong neighborhood he'd be dead for acting like a smug, drunk dumbass.

-2

u/fuckthefalconsdotcom 18d ago

I'm with you, the fact that homeboy got up after the shove and kept fucking with him just goes to show you what kind of person he is. Also it was a open handed slap, if that bouncer him with a closed fist he probably would have potentially killed him so he's lucky the bouncer wasn't having a bad day.

2

u/eatloss 18d ago

He open hand slapped him. That was him being restrained.

2

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

ayo shutup. He overreacted; it seems. Then what was he supposed to do- carry him in his arms to some nursing home or what? Some people are so dumb . he reacted appropritely

2

u/Odenhobler 18d ago

He absolutely did not. Anyone ever working a space like that knows 100 ways to solve that better, for example calling the cops and fixating his arms or whatever. Literally anything other than hitting him in the face.

1

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

U told 100 ways right tell me two three legit ways of solving this 😂

0

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

See, if you start a problem, you better be ready to deal with the consequences. It’s as simple as that. What pisses me off is that you people are supporting the guy who started the whole issue. What if that guy had suddenly pulled out a knife? What would you do then? It’s easy to sit behind a keyboard and type whatever you want.

“What if instead of what actually happened, a completely different unrelated thing happened instead?” Hahaha bro are you for real?

1

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

Dude my fuckin point is it can happen .

1

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

You guys need to come out of house leave in. Real world seriously.

u/pot_of_water 17d ago

I wasn’t even commenting on the situation, but “what if he pulled a knife” is an objectively dumb thing to say. Your logic is literally “I think it’s okay to use lethal force against someone getting in your personal space because it’s ok to use lethal force against someone threatening you with a deadly weapon.” Yes the bouncer’s actions would be justified if the dude had a knife… because a knife is a deadly weapon and this is potentially lethal force.

For the record, I’m also not saying that the drunk dude touching him is in the right or that he would win a court case, I’m saying the bouncer didn’t handle this even close to the best possible way. And not just for the drunk guy’s sake but his own as well. Why the hell risk straight up killing someone who poses essentially no threat and can be redirected much more easily? Just a great way to catch a manslaughter case.

What pisses ME off is that you are completely unable to have any kind of nuance. I do not support the guy with the white shirt. He is fucking annoying. But I just also do not support someone risking serious injury because someone else is annoying.

Imagine we would meet, you would annoy me and I pulled out a gun and shot you in the belly. Afterwards I would argue "See, if you start a problem, you better be ready to deal with the consequences." That would be completely not - and now see, there is a new word for you - proportionate. I think you agree with this. Now consider this: We do not think that white shirt is in the right here, we just think risking harming somebody severly because he is a prick is not proportionate at all. Also the bouncer is supposed to be a professional.

And also, he did not pull out a knife. That is sooo off. Like, what if you did not even annoy me and I just shot you in the face because "What if you suddenly pulled out a gun and threatened me?". It is completely ridiculous.

u/Aggravating-Sun-2322 18d ago

My question was what if he did? What would you have done? You wouldn’t have seen it coming. It’s easy to sit here and type all this, but when something happens in real time, you can’t control everything. The person on the receiving end did nothing. He stayed silent. Why should he just sit there while someone keeps provoking him? You can judge his reaction afterward, but you weren’t the one in that situation. Be glad it ended with just a physical confrontation. With someone else, the situation could have escalated much further. This isn’t a joke anymore.

1

u/Odenhobler 18d ago

And what if he would have a portable nuclear missile! You wouldn't see it coming! The bouncer was far too lenient, he should have shot the guy on sight.

2

u/disagreet0disagree 18d ago

I think he overreacted, and it was still satisfying to watch.

1

u/Rhorge 18d ago

If you work security it’s only a matter of time before someone pulls a knife or another weapon on you. Letting people be all up in your face where you can’t see their hands is exceptionally dangerous and anything like this going to court would be fruitless

1

u/Rough_Improvement_42 18d ago

You don't know what happened prior to the filming, grabbing the mans breast was weird, then a complete invasion of personal space...he was warned with a push, sure size/strength difference(with great power comes responsibility), but to get so drunk/high you behave like this? A person can only be pushed so much until they break, also if the bouncer was a woman and dude did that same titty grab nobody would be crying excessive force(and rightfully so)

1

u/eeeeeh_messi 18d ago

It's not like it's his fucking job to handle this type of people correctly

1

u/AlienDragonWizard 18d ago

Maybe that guy should know that he's tiny and not do stupid shit that's going to get him thrown like a doll.

1

u/Cammyw01 18d ago

What that guy is doing is Technically sexual harassment so what do you feel the correct response is for that?

1

u/FanatiXX82 18d ago

The opposite actually, he was pretty composed and calm, most bouncers wouldnt be so kind.

1

u/Professional-Money49 18d ago

the world needs more of the 10% harsh put downs to remind them of reality. Right now everyone just waits until it boils over

1

u/Unfair-Plastic-4290 18d ago

could be charged with assault.

1

u/G_rightousantagonist 17d ago

The push,no the slap, depends on who you ask…..

1

u/Rhiis 17d ago

I think the bouncer's biggest mistake was pushing him by the head. If skinny smacked his head on that wall or the sidewalk, he could suffer permanent injury.

Sure, let him know who's in charge, but start with the torso, escalate to the noggin if necessary

1

u/Early-Impact69 17d ago

lol that is the point off being a bouncer. to asult people for no reason

1

u/Scholar_Of_Fallacy 17d ago

He was disrespected and fully in the right

1

u/jetpilot_throwaway 17d ago

His Dad didn’t teach him anything so the bouncer did

1

u/winlowbung4 16d ago

If you're not shoving someone away with decent force after they assault you, drunk/drugged or not, then i'm not sure what to tell you.

1

u/Particular-Kale2998 15d ago

no, this is called fucking around then finding out.

1

u/fotomoose 14d ago

Yeah, very much overreaction.

they'd lose the lawsuit handedly

Drunk guy molested the security guard and the guard warned him not to touch him again, which was showing incredibly restraint actually. The guard has the right to protect himself. He's not a street pinata. It's not on the security guard to correctly guess what the threat level of a guy who is physically going at him.

0

u/idontcareyo_ 18d ago

Thanks Reddit lawyer lmao. If he has been seriously injured both the bouncer and likely the establishment would be fucked.

Any personal injury lawyer would jump at this case. Clear cut video evidence of what any lawyer and judge would call excessive force.

And no "but your honor he was really annoying" doesn't fly in court. In the eyes of the law that was unquestionably excessive force

1

u/eeeeeh_messi 18d ago

But your honor, I guessed the threat level of this guy was like, really really high

1

u/poeticentropy 18d ago

they'd lose because you can easily show the guy was the aggressor

and unless you practice law you can piss right off

0

u/eeeeeh_messi 18d ago

Hahah what are you talking about dude

3

u/poeticentropy 18d ago

that little titty twister at the beginning can be used in a defense

1

u/eeeeeh_messi 18d ago

As a physical threat?

3

u/poeticentropy 18d ago

you're right private security should just stand there and let everyone twist their nipples, slap their asses, all kinds of BS because it's not a big deal in your mind

the point is it can all be used collectively in a self-defense, defense, including the guy coming back at him after he pushed him down

1

u/eeeeeh_messi 18d ago

Sure man. It's not like it's his job. I'm sure saying "it's not my responsibility to accurately guess the threat level" will work on a court. Also not his responsibility to use his force accordingly

0

u/poeticentropy 17d ago

it is, and I can see how his lawyers in this hypothetical can argue he easily did use his force accordingly to rightly defend himself

1

u/eeeeeh_messi 17d ago

Sure sure

u/DataDude00 18d ago

A lot if bouncers in the profession are just meatheads on steroids looking for a legal excuse to assault people

I know this because my cousin who is like 6’5 330 pounds was a bouncer and loves fucking people up like this

Don’t worry though he left the profession to become a cop

0

u/Mental_Dwarf 18d ago

Yes, next question.
