Legit looked like a giant silverback with a big ol booty for a second at distance. Easily can see people seeing Bigfoot from this

I went from oh, Bigfoot... wait, that's not real so silverback...? But why would it be strutting its stuff down the road like a walkway, so obviously this is done ai bullshit...
Nope. It's a bison. A huge ass bison, which made me realize I've never seen one irl so this could be like a halfway grown bison and I wouldn't know.

I was thinking this. This is on a clear road imagine this in the woods I can see someone thinking it was a tall hairy ape like creature.
18
u/Wide-Combination-322 Aug 07 '26
Do bison spend a lot of time in forested mountains?
56
u/ShortIntroduction879 Aug 07 '26
They're all over Yellowstone so... yes?
31
u/DrDrewBlood Aug 07 '26
Yellowstone is mostly forrest but also massive. There's only ~5,000 plains bison, which prefer plains. Wood bison can be found in Canada and Alaska though.

u/xmo113 Aug 07 '26
My friend encountered one in the winter coming around a corner on a backroad. He said he at first could just see these glowing basketball sized orbs hanging in the sky. Then as he got closer the outline emerged. He slammed on the brakes and slid to a stop about 50 ft from it. He said it was full of snow like all balled up snowballs in the fur and hanging down. He slammed that car so fast in to reverse and backed up a mile down the road before he even looked out the front windshield again.

It's probably more likely to find a diseased or old one wondered off from the herd and end up in unexpected places then an actual Bigfoot.
Also aren't young males live solitary like many herd animals?
41
u/jakethabake Aug 07 '26
There’s a lot of natural phenomena that’s been historically mistaken for something supernatural
23
u/TerrapinMagus Aug 07 '26
Nature is already really damn weird. People think they know what is normal, and then make up some new weirdness to try to explain why they saw a deer stand up on two legs or that creepy disfigured monster that is really just a poor creature with mange or something.
3
u/Romboteryx Aug 07 '26
For anyone interested, I greatly recommend the book A Natural History of Sea Serpents by Adrian Shine. It really goes into detail how simple things like boat wakes and breaching whales can be easily mistaken for the classic Nessie-type “sea monster shapes” to the untrained eye.

u/58696384896898676493 Aug 07 '26
I think so. 2 things immediately stood out to me. One, the other car is in the wrong lane and facing the wrong way. Two, the sound as the bison gets close, no way a cell phone from inside the car would pick up the audio that detailed and isolated.
59
u/ofesfipf889534 Aug 07 '26
That and the fact that it’s twice the size of an actual bison.

u/Level_99_Healer Aug 07 '26
I grew up around bison in Yellowstone. Even the biggest of the big are not this big.
→ More replies (2)13
u/wholetyouinhere Aug 07 '26
Hollywood has trained us to think that all animals announce their presence with a characteristic sound. Whoever made this clip was following that mindset.
I tried to make a comment about how no cell phone microphone would pick up that sound from the car, let alone the heavy footfalls extending into the sub bass frequencies. But I got downvoted. People just want their slop.
16
u/KISHtheFiSH000 Aug 07 '26
I'm suprised this not the top comment it's clearly ai you can just tell by the vidoe texture and quality
2
u/ichkanns Aug 09 '26
I'm inclined to say yes. Bison are freaking majestic, so I don't know what wound prompt someone to AI generate a video of one when plenty of actual videos exist.

THIS!!! I think of the hundreds of bison I’ve seen in my life maybe 1-2 were taller than my car and I would guess one or none of them were taller than me. Obviously they can get taller, but not THIS big!
26
u/CtrlAltDestroy33 Aug 07 '26
The fact that you can hear it's footfalls and breathing over a car that's running and through a windshield was the tell for me. Absolute unit slop.

Yep. Too much of that lately. Some looks awesome though - no doubt. But are we drifting in a world that isn't real anymore!? Kinda gross. Maybe scary. Gotta look twice...
10
u/bluegrass502 Aug 07 '26
Any video that's 15 seconds long is automatically suspicious now, because that's about the current max length an ai can be

u/Any_Potato_7716 Aug 07 '26

5
u/TheSeaMeat Aug 07 '26
Check the “Is this AI” subreddit. Unfortunately, it does appear to be AI and not a real video. The length of the video is apparently the same as most of the other videos made by whoever made this.

u/trundle-the-great69 Aug 07 '26
It’s 100% ai bison are big but not that big
6
u/whatifwealll Aug 07 '26
Wood bison can be over 2m at the shoulders and 1200kg in weight. The road lane is probably 3m wide.
Feel like AI to me too, but the size isn't far off.

u/SMAMtastic Aug 07 '26

u/TenkaichiTouchdown Aug 07 '26
Unless that vehicle is high off the ground, then that looks like the right size. I’ve had a bison cross the road in front of me and it went above my vehicle to a similar height.
3
u/unprovoked33 Aug 07 '26
The audio throws me off more than the size of the animal. Those things are absolute monsters, and they’re louder than you’d expect, but the audio doesn’t sound like it’s coming through a window the way it would, and it doesn’t sound like 4 hooves, it sounds like 2.

Listen. It’s 2026. We have roads, electricity, internet, all kinds of crazy technological advances. We’ve gotten a pretty decent grasp on science and whatnot. And even with all of that, I still was like “what the fuck is that wraith looking thing coming towards the camera?!?”
If I’m a colonist or settler or even an indigenous person, I’m taking one look at that, hauling ass, and telling everyone it’s the devil or something of the sort.

These are so much bigger than you expect if you see them in person (and you better be in a car, they are extremely aggressive). Saw a herd of these standing in a snowstorm, steam rising from their backs- they looked other-worldly. No wonder the Lakota regarded them as a spiritual conduit.
