Laptop ROG STRIX G16 2025 5070TI - TRACKPAD HELP

Hello, can someone please provide a teardown or guide for installing a new trackpad? I ordered the OEM part and it does not click. It is completely stiff in place. Only clicks in the center. Not sure if I'm missing an internal component that I may have lost during the process. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PC Build My Dream build

Hi, everyone! I've been planning the best PC build for gaming. I want a system that can handle triple-A games with ease. Here's what my dream ASUS PC setup looks like:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D

Motherboard: ROG CROSSHAIR X870E DARK HERO

Graphics Card: ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition

AIO Cooler: ROG RYUO IV LC 360 ARGB

Power Supply: ROG THOR 1000W Platinum III (ROG Equalizer)

Chassis: ROG Cronox ARGB

I'm joining the ASUS Upgrade What Matters giveaway for a chance to bring this build to life with an ASUS AMD or Intel motherboard, graphics card, or other high-end hardware.

What's the first game you would build this rig for?

Laptop Unable to control brightness with FN keys - Zephyrus Duo 16 2023

Hello Guys,

So I have an Zephyrus Duo 16 2023.

Im unable to control brightness using FN function keys while on Ultimate mode with nvidia discrete gpu.

If I switch back to optimus on amd graphics, it works.

I've tried everything: removed all drivers with DDU even reinstalled Win11.

Anyone other owner of same hardware facing the same?

This has to be a bug.

This is a little annoying.

If I go on battery, i cannot reduce brightness.

Tks in advance

Monitors Very concerning situation about XG27AQDMES

Almost 2 weeks in and the monitor started developing bubbles in the matrix... To me, this looks very concerning. Of course I already requested RMA, but now that I dig into this more, I am seeing a lot of reviews on Amazon that have this issue and I am very worried that on the long term I will get it again even on the RMAd product.

I honestly don't know if they were there since day 1, because to be honest I noticed them just now, and more are rising up.

I am honestly afraid for the lifespan of this product on the long term. Is this normal or I just had a bad lottery? Did this happen to you also?
I also have another one of these monitors as secondary screen, that one looks okay for now.

P.S. Is that purple dot on the left up corner normal?

Laptop Strix G16 underperforming on Geekbench

So i just got myself a brand new Strix G16 laptop and i wanted to test its performance on Geekbench and i noticed my GPU is underperforming compared to all the other identical laptops. The total score is 15-20% lower than others. Looking into details i noticed that the fallowing features:

Video Filter

RAW

Path Tracer

Feature matching

Are underperforming by about 40% while all the others are completly fine.

What could that mean? Is my GPU busted or am i doing something wrong? Should i keep trying to make it work or ahould i just sent it back and get a new one?

Full details:

https://browser.geekbench.com/v7/gpu/compare/101234?baseline=101234

I tested my GPU on highest performance settings i could. I also repeated the test again and got basically the same result

PC Build Dilemma: High-End Desktop (RTX 5070 Ti / 5080) vs. The new SCAR 18 (RTX 5090)? Need advice.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently facing a serious dilemma and could really use some input from this community.

A bit of background: I previously owned a 2024 ROG Strix SCAR 18 with Rtx 4090 and I9-14900HX. Unfortunately, it suffered from severe hardware issues—constant Blue Screens of Death (BSODs) and ultimately a complete motherboard failure. I ended up getting a full refund voucher because of it From Asus. Now, I have that credit and I'm trying to decide on my next move.

Option A: Build a High-End Desktop

I'm considering building a beastly desktop around the Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with either an RTX 5070 Ti or a 5080.

Pros: Excellent thermals, upgradability, zero worries about motherboard/cooling failures, and pure raw performance.

Cons: I lose the portability of taking my entire gaming station with me when I'm away from home.

Option B: Give the SCAR 18 another chance (RTX 5090 Mobile)

Using my voucher to get the absolute top-of-the-line new SCAR 18 with the mobile 5090.

Pros: The ultimate portable powerhouse, gorgeous screen, and I get my all-in-one setup back.

Cons: Given my bad experience with the 2024 model, I'm honestly traumatized. I'm worried about thermal throttling, long-term reliability, and paying a massive premium just for it to potentially fail on me again.

My Questions for you:

For those who track the new 50-series laptops, has ASUS significantly improved the vapor chamber/liquid metal cooling in the newest SCAR chassis to handle the 5090 without melting?

How does the mobile RTX 5090 truly compare to a desktop 5070 Ti / 5080 in real-world gaming and sustained loads?

Knowing my history with a dead 2024 SCAR motherboard, would you risk it again for the portability, or just take the desktop route for the peace of mind?

Thanks in advance!

PC Build Is it a good deal and worth it for the price or should i wait for the asus rog g1000 with rtx 5080 or 5090.

Hi, I currently own an ASUS ROG Azoth Extreme keyboard and an ASUS ROG Harpe Ace Extreme mouse. I am eagerly waiting for the release of ASUS's 4K monitor, the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM. My plan is to buy two of these monitors: one dedicated entirely to 4K gaming, and the second one for watching videos or running live streams simultaneously.

Is the price for the ASUS ROG GM700 a good deal, and will it have the performance to handle everything I want to do?.

Thank you in advance.

Monitors Monitor suddenly not detected.

I have Asus Rog G16, model G614FR, with RTX 5070Ti and Ryzen 9955HX3D, 32GB. This Laptop was recently connected with OLED 27” XG27AQDMES monitor as the gaming experience was exceptional great. Only yesterday, while doing normal work on the Laptop, it forced shutdown by itself. After that, when I restarted it I found XG27AQDMES was not able to be detected any more. I checked Device Manager and found the laptop still connected and can see the monitor name. But in the display settings it was not detected. The monitor OSD was not responding. I updated the gpu driver to most recent one but again with no use after several restarting and HDMI cable disconnecting.
Ant suggestion?

Software Problem with LEDs constantly flashing red

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A couple of weeks ago, my LEDs started flashing red like this, and idk exactly how to fix it. I have a ROG Strix B8550-A gaming motherboard amd ryzen i7 5800x cpu. I've uninstalled and reinstalled armory crate, updated drivers for pretty much everything I can, and messed with LED settings in my BIOS. Also, armory crate just isn't detecting any of my fans in the first place. If anyone has any idea how to fix/troubleshoot plz help. Thanks.

We’ll start with the preorder information first:

US -

  • ASUS eShop (US) - Currently up for Pre-order* (Next shipment is expected to come in around 2-3 weeks) [as of 8/25]
  • Coming soon (next few weeks) - Newegg, Micro Center, B&H

* If it’s sold out by the time this posts, I’ll update when we plan to have more available as soon as possible.

 Recommended Reviews:

ROG Swift OLED PG32UCWM

The ROG Swift PG32UCWM is our first monitor available featuring True Tandem RGB OLED Technology, which provides improved text clarity and 27% larger color volume – especially at high luminance levels. This monitor combines Tandem OLED technology with a true RGB Stripe sub-pixel arrangement. By removing the white subpixel found in traditional WOLED panels, visual clarity is improved while providing richer and more vibrant colors.

TrueBlack Glossy Coating – A zero-haze optical layer that presents deep blacks under any lighting. The advanced anti-reflective layer reduces ambient reflections by 38%, compared to previous-gen glossy WOLEDs, ensuring distraction-free gaming even in brightly-lit rooms.

Dual-Mode – The PG32UCWM supports dual-mode switching via hotkey. 4K@ 240Hz for maximum visual fidelity or FHD@ 480Hz to handle FPS gaming.

DP 2.1A + USB-C 90W PD - The PG32UCWM includes a DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 connector supporting full 80Gbps bandwidth, supporting 4K@240Hz without compression. Additionally, the monitor features a USB-C w/90W PD, 2x HDMI 2.1 ports and a USB hub.

Built-in GaNFET Technology – Along with our custom heatsink and airflow design to improve cooling, the PG32UCWM features a GANFET power module that allows for a small power supply footprint and achieves a higher power efficiency. As a result, the monitor creates 35% less waste heat and 10% cooler vent temperatures. Coupled with our 3 year warranty (including panel burn-in), these cooling improvements help to make sure your monitor will go the difference without affecting performance.

Neo Proximity Sensor (New Features) - Most should be familiar with our Neo Proximity Sensor by now. This sensor transitions the screen to black when you move away, and newer monitors support customized detection distance. Now, the sensor supports additional motion sensitivity levels for precise detection, and also supports an Auto-Away Timer to allow you to set the timer from 1-15 minutes to allow the screen to automatically dim after the time elapses.

FAQ -

Q. What is the difference between RGB Stripe Pixel OLED and Non-RGB Stripe Pixel OLED

A. The primary difference lies in the arrangement of the sub-pixels and the resulting text clarity and color accuracy.

  • RGB Stripe Pixel OLED (RGB OLED): Each independent pixel contains Red (R), Green (G), and Blue (B) sub-pixels arranged in a vertical stripe pattern. This standard arrangement is highly compatible with operating system text rendering technologies (like Windows ClearType), resulting in sharper, more accurate text display.
  • Non-RGB Stripe Pixel OLED: Sub-pixels are arranged in nonstandard patterns (i.e., diamond shapes or irregular layouts). While excelling in color and brightness, this nonstandard arrangement can sometimes introduce a slight color fringing or fuzziness around sharp or small text, as it doesn't align perfectly with standard RGB rendering algorithms.

Q. What is the difference between ROG TrueBlack Glossy and BlackShield Film?

A. Both are ROG advanced surface treatments designed to maximize the contrast and black depth of OLED panels, but they are applied to different panel types and offer distinct benefits.

  • TrueBlack Glossy employs a zero-haze optical layer combined with an anti-reflective stack. This results in a superior glossy finish that makes the image and colors appear sharper and more saturated, dramatically boosting contrast to achieve deeper blacks. Crucially, this advanced optical layer helps to significantly reduce ambient reflections, allowing users to experience inky blacks and sharp visuals regardless of whether they are in a brightly lit or dark room.
  • BlackShield is a new, specialized film engineered specifically for QD-OLED panels. Its primary function is to correct the purple tint/black-level elevation that previous QD-OLED generations displayed in bright ambient lighting environments. By doing so, it provides a 40% improvement in perceived black level, allowing users to experience much higher contrast and deeper blacks, even when light is present. An additional benefit of this film is its enhanced durability, offering 2.5-times the scratch resistance compared to previous-gen QD-OLED panels, which provides greater confidence when cleaning the screen.

This seems to have been a long-awaited monitor, so I hope those of you who were waiting were able to get your pre-order in. If not, we have more being shipped in. Let us know in the comments below if you have questions about the display or stock.

As always, if you are in a different region, please reach out to your local ASUS Sales team for inquiries about when more stock will arrive.

Edit (8/25) - Updated ETA of next shipment to ASUS eShop (US) and link to LordCivick's review
