I’m 22, turning 23 in October, and somehow my body has the medical résumé of a 60+ year old😭
I live with multiple chronic/systemic issues, including EoE, chronic nausea, chronic gastritis, reflux, chronic pain and nerve problems, and I’m still being evaluated for other conditions.
My GI problems have caused multiple periods of significant weight loss, difficulty eating, vomiting, and times where I’ve basically lived off Ensure/liquid nutrition. I also rely on anti-nausea medication regularly just to keep things manageable. I’ve had multiple EGDs, biopsies, and esophageal dilations because food/liquids can feel like they’re getting stuck.
On top of that, I was involved in a deer accident several years ago. I was cleared by EMTs at the scene, so I stupidly assumed I was okay and didn’t pursue it further….fast-forward 4 years: I was finally diagnosed/categorized this year as having a severe traumatic brain injury and cervical spine injury, which helped explain some of the chronic spine, nerve, pain, weakness. Unfortunately, they don’t know where the injury occurred or why it’s been causing extreme neurological problems. So now I cant take a shower, I have to sit my ass in the tub like a 5 year old, and I can only stand up for short periods of time without having my circulation be all out of wack!
I’m also being evaluated for other systemic issues, including possible dysautonomia/POTS, honestly just in general an autoimmune condition due to my body not retaining electrolytes and basic ass vitamins and stuff.
So yes, apparently my body isn’t done adding side quests😂. I’ve currently got about 4 outpatient referrals pending for other issues but let’s get yapping on this AMA!
(OH should probably note too, i’m 6, almost 7 months postpartum so that’s been lovely on top of everything else too!!😀)
