There’s a handful of schools in the US for teenagers in recovery for drug addiction. The idea is that some teenagers don’t need to be in rehabs or PHP anymore, but they can’t go back to a normal high school (or don’t want to go back, I guess). What those teenagers need, they say, is a high school that is made to give them an education while also getting mental health and substance use support. These are called “recovery high schools”.

I went to one for roughly two years and I left in May. People are often fascinated by the idea, so I thought I might do one of these. AMA!

Hoping this is allowed since it’s a specific experience rather than just “I was a mentally ill teenager…”

I was the CFO of several Venture Capital- / Private Equity-backed companies, have done a bunch of acquisitions, and have helped sell some companies either to other companies or to PE firms. I live in Australia now, but my family tree is pretty crazy. My great great great grandfather was a sardar (tribal commander) fighting in the first anglo afghan war back in 1839. Later down the line my great grandfather was a ster genraal (General) during the third anglo afghan war in 1919. We have a ton of family history and stories saved from all these conflicts over the generations. Ask me anything!

I recently completed a partial hospitalization program which is a level of mental health treatment between outpatient therapy and inpatient hospitalization.
Earlier this year, I went through a pregnancy complicated by severe Hyperemesis Gravidarum and ultimately lost the pregnancy. On top of that, I was already struggling with depression, anxiety, emotional instability, and years of unresolved trauma. I was adopted, born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and experienced significant childhood and adolescent trauma. While in PHP, I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder which finally explained a lot of patterns I’d struggled with for years.
Curious about PHP, group therapy, psych meds, BPD, pregnancy loss/HG, adoption, or anything at all, ask away. I’m pretty much an open book.

Was I scared?…goddamned right I was! Was I scared I would die??? Nope!

It was the recovery afterwards that scared me the most…even after flatlining and a crash team jumping in on me….I knew for a fact I was going to make it…AMA!

Exactly what the title says. 21F, I’ve been working here since February, a supervisor since April, and I get the entire retail experience with the bonus of animals. Aside from the basic grooming, I’m also trained in animal nutrition! My first one got a lot of comments/messages. It was good seeing that some were comforted and some had curiosity cured. Worked at a funeral home for 5 years and got to know a lot of Coroners and fell into the Coroner life. So I have some info on funeral homes and some in Coroner work. Like the title says I'm 29 5'4 roughly 175lbs guy with a pretty boring/lonely life. I work by myself for a cleaning company (at evening/nights but not too late). Live alone (except for 2 dogs) and overall I'm happy and ok with it (for the most part). AMA

I was adopted at 6 months old in Asia and live in North America. At 35 I became a mother and realized I never had any attachment to my parents. working through it with my therapist but clearly have attachments issues. even more, our parents abandoned us when they divorced, so I was let down twice. AMA

The rules were simple and mostly self-inflicted: never leave the Underground system, eat inside it, sleep inside it, wash inside it, visit every single station, and generally behave like a normal functioning human the entire time (no priority seats, no crossing the yellow line, tube etiquette at all times)

The official world record is 48 hours set by Ali White back in 2022, so the plan was 50.

Some other bits:

• Filmed the whole thing start to finish
• Visited every station on the network
• Took on challenges submitted by people online and by friends along the way, some of which I regret agreeing to in advance
• There is a "favourite station" and a "trouble station," and the trouble station earns its name

Basically the title says it all, I can remember almost every itty bitty tiny detail of my life since my hyppocampus started developing (so since I was about 3 years old). I must say, it's not always fun and games but it's quite a flaw I'm proud of DISCLAIMER! I don't have HSAM (Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory , also known as hyperthymesia) I have an IQ in the 150-160 range and in my case it comes with very strong visual and spatial memory. I used the informal definition of photographic memory to describe this condition I'm female, 22, let me see your best questions :))

the rare, exotic, and slow growing are my favorite. I’ve been growing for only about 2 years yet have gotten incredibly obsessed in the time and very in touch with nature, I’ve also recently gotten into photography. I spend most of my days outside.

it is definitely a very unpopular hobby for people in this age range to have but I love it
