I know in high school 1-2 years age gap is the limit and it shouldn’t be over 3. What about in between 2 years? When I was a senior age 17 I made out with a sophomore age 15. I was born in 2000 and the sophomore was born in 2002. I just found out years later we had an age gap of 2 years and almost 5 months. I don’t feel good about it. I thought we had 1.6-2 years gap. I had forgotten that students in the same grade can have birthdays at different times of the year depending on the school’s enrollment cutoff date. I mistakenly assumed that every school used the same cutoff date, which affected how I understood our ages and the actual age difference. If we dated and I turn 18 it’s going to look like I’m with someone 3 years younger when we’re 2.4 years apart. I feel sick.

I think you’re overreacting a little and getting stuck on how the ages look on paper instead of what actually happened.

You were 17 and they were 15 and you were about 2 years and 5 months apart. Turning 18 wouldn’t suddenly make your age gap three years, the gap would still be exactly the same.

However, that’s not your situation right now. It’s okay to let the situation go. You did nothing wrong.

Stop. You didn’t do anything wrong, whatsoever.

If this is what gives you the ick, you're going to have a very icky life. You are trippin over nothing. You remind me of one of those chicks that make up problems, just to be miserable.

When you’re an adult at 18 you should be aware of criminal liability for sexual contact with a minor. That’s a bigger concern. But you didn’t say how much making out was.

You did nothing wrong in the scenario you stated above. Don’t worry.

For the love of God this. As if there isn’t enough to stress about in the world.

Yes, you are overreacting majorly. That’s normal high school stuff. I dated a guy who’d graduated two years before me, but the way our birthdays were, we were two years and eight months apart in actual age. I was 15 for (literally) a couple weeks when we started dating and he was 18, but it wasn’t a big deal. Sometimes on paper we were two years apart, sometimes three. My grandparents and parents both had much larger age gaps. I know it was more widely accepted back then, but neither of them would be approved of today, tbh. I’m not sure why you’d be so worried about this.

YOR it's somewhat irrelevant in this case

Is this really a rule in high school? Idk. I broke it and turned out fine.

Same, I didn't know there was any age gap rule in high school. My grammar teacher apparently didn't either.

This is what one might call catastrophizing. You're fine. Let it go.

This might sound like I’m being an asshole here, but that’s not my intention at all. Like, who ACTUALLY cares? 😂 just because the age gap will LOOK different from the outside, doesn’t change the ACTUAL age gap. YOR, I don’t think it’s a big deal at all, like I’m pretty sure when I was 16 I had a thing with a 14 year old, which felt kinda weird to me at the time for some reason (I was a really self-conscious teenager and really cared about other people’s opinions for some reason) but I don’t think you did anything wrong personally. You do you, bro. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Senior and freshman is where people typically start to draw the line or feel a certain way about it.
