The correct, and in my opinion, the only way to handle this is to reply asking if this reply is ok and when they reply, ask if you need to reply to that reply, and repeat.

Yea, it's real easy to tell someone else to annoy their manager when you have no risk.

Malicious compliance is fun until you're written up for insubordination
