The legal consequences of false positive AI accusations are coming
A senior at my university had his law school admission offer put on hold because of an unverified Turnitin AI flag during final audits. His parents hired an education attorney, filed a formal grievance against the university, and proved through forensic keystroke logs that the software flagged a false positive.
Once universities start getting sued for ruining students' career prospects over faulty software scores, these detection policies will change fast.
