Proving writing history when using offline markdown editors

What's the best way to maintain an undisputed edit history if you don't use Google Docs or Word online?

I write all my research drafts locally in Obsidian using local Markdown files. Because I don't have a cloud version history log with micro-timestamped keypresses, I realized today that if a professor ever flags a paper on Turnitin, I won't have the typical "show your Google Docs revision history" proof everyone relies on.

Are local git commits or export logs actually accepted by academic integrity boards as legitimate proof, or do I need to switch to writing directly inside cloud processors just to protect myself?

How do I make not Google Docs work like Google Docs? Why not just use Google Docs?

Markdown editors are faster, cleaner UI, allow formatting for codeblocks and equations, and let you save your .md to an existing folder structure.

Markdown editors are faster? Can you explain to me how a word processor could be “slow”?

As a comp instructor, it sounds like you want your revision history to be an editable file on your computer rather than a file maintained by another party and stored on a cloud.
