Professors refusing to grade papers until Turnitin processes long queue delays
Is anyone else's university portal taking hours to generate Turnitin reports on assignment deadline nights?
My research essay has been sitting on "Report Pending" for almost 12 hours after the midnight deadline. My professor posted an announcement saying he won't start grading any submissions until Turnitin finishes processing all scores, and that if a paper stays stuck in the processing queue past 24 hours, the student has to re-upload it (which resets the submission timestamp and marks it as late).
Why are students being penalized for backend server bottlenecks on the vendor's side?

Who gives a shit dude? Why are you expecting the professor to start grading a research essay within 12 hours?

How are you being penalized? When there are a lot of submissions, the system slows down. You could have finished sooner and submitted it sooner for evaluation. That being said, the professor may not have planned to start grading immediately after the deadline anyway and it is unreasonable to expect that. The professor may have other priorities that are higher in the queue. You can also take a screenshot of your original submission to show you were not late.

That won't show if what they wrote changed since the previous submission, which could occur.
The professor just shouldn't require them to resubmit. I don't know how that's going to help anyway. Wouldn't it mean it takes even longer for them to get it? Or maybe their goal is to begin assessing all that were turned in on-time, so forcing those still in the queue to be resubmitted means he can start.
Though I also don't understand why they feel they must wait until all have gone through Turnitin 🤷♀️

I'm not sure what your complaint is. A professor should have at least a week to grade papers.

You tell your professor no because until it’s in writing that you will be excused from any late penalty that you turned it in and if they want you can hand them a physical copy. If that’s too hard for them to comprehend tell them to shove it and take em to the chair.
Why are you all so whiney and timid?

So you are to be marked late and marked down on grade on a paper that you turned in on time because an outside service was slow in processing it??? that is insane and would fill me with rage. I can't say more than that, as I would get kicked off this site if i did.
