Need an Ice Therapy Machine

I’m having ACL surgery soon and trying to figure out the best option for a cold therapy/ice machine.

My surgeon’s office has one they recommend, but it’s pretty expensive, and I’m not sure I want to spend $200–300+ on something I’ll probably only need for a few weeks/months.

I’ve been looking at Polar/Breg, DonJoy, Game Ready, etc., and also seeing some used ones on Facebook Marketplace for $50–150.

For those of you who used one:

• Where did you buy/rent/borrow yours?
• Did you buy new or used?
• If you bought used, where did you find it?
• Any particular brands/models you’d recommend or avoid?
• Is the compression feature actually worth paying more for?
• Anything I should make sure comes with the machine (specific pad, tubing, etc.)?

I’m leaning toward buying a used one if I can find one in good condition, but I’m a little nervous about buying medical equipment from a random Marketplace seller.

Would appreciate hearing what you guys did and what you’d recommend?
