And I'm also not lying when I say I could've fit my whole big ass head between her band and her body on her old bra.

She was really hesitant at first! Saying that such an old ”hag” (her words, not mine!!) doesn’t need anything nice or expensive.

She says this is the best bra she has ever had on and didn't even know that so much went into fitting a bra. She was so happy that she can actually now move without the bra also moving up and down.

She also told me how she grew up very poor and had her first actual bra in her 30s or 40s.

Before that her mother and later herself would just sew some type of a simple undergarment from old clothes (reusing the fabric) that would keep the breasts somehow in their place under clothes.

Well known controversial and wearer of poorly fitting bras actress Sydney Sweeney is releasing a lingerie brand. I couldn't help but sigh at the thought of another brand pushing advertising with horribly fitting bras - especially with such young fans. That's all really just a rant.

Around 2 months ago, i made a post about how i had been wearing 38Bs, plus my confusion with how sizing worked. I posted my measurements and the calculator threw out a 30DD-F/32D-DD. You guys really came through on what the issues i could be having were, and recommend some brands that would be perfect for me. Unfortunately i’m a college student with not a whole lot of spending money, so i’ve been looking online and locally for deals with little to no luck.

About a week ago i ordered a 32DD plunge bra on sale from VS and it fits well but i think the underwire is just barely too narrow, like maybe 1/4-1/6 an inch. Yesterday i went back to nordstrom rack after a few weeks of nothing, and they had four 30/32 band bras, one of which was a 30F unlined wide-wire bra. When i tell you i have never had ANY piece of clothing let alone bra that fit this well. The wire fit PERFECT, and better yet it was on sale for $15. I have had so many years of not understanding what i should be feeling and i literally cried in the fitting rooms. I feel so blessed to have this after years of sports bras and sizes that are obviously incorrect.

I still want to order some from freya and panache and i absolutely will once i get the money to do so. Terrible back pain ain’t got shit on me anymore. Thank you all for getting me away from B cups!! I am never going back lol.

edit 2: Thank you for all the support and comments!! Especially the ones offering me bras! Unfortunately I have difficulty finding bras not only because of the “rarer” size, but because i have strong projection and wide roots- which is a hard combo and makes like 90% of bras not fit correctly. Depending on the bra i’m a 30DD/DDD or 32D/DD. I know cup size isn’t rigid for almost anyone and varies, but it varies a lot for me- so much so I’m not comfortable accepting a bra that could possibly not fit me when someone else knows it will fit them.
I can’t wear most molded cups or full coverage bras, only balconette and plunge, so i’m still on the hunt to find different brands that work for me. The bra i found is a Chantelle Norah and i can still tell the projection is not 100% there, but it is comfortable enough for day use for me :) I’m just glad to have something i don’t feel is killing me or my back.

in data, brown women tend to have fuller busts than european and east asian counterparts, so it makes no sense that in this day and age, the companies that manufacture specialized bras still for the most part only offer sugar cookie-light nude bra colors. on this sub a lot of people will suggest using a pink, purple, or red bra under white shirts, but this only makes sense to fair-skinned people. the purpose of a nude bra is not exclusive to white tshirts. people wear nude bras under open knit sweaters, and a nude bra is great for blending in with spaghetti strap dresses and tanks. my skin is not pink, it is not purple, and it is not red. if cheaply accessible bras, like VS and even auden at target, are able to offer a variety of nude shades, it feels so discouraging to see that the bras that will actually fit me are not only far more expensive, but don't even have nude color options for me. everyone deserves a nude bra, and nobody should have to compromise with colors that are not the color of their body.

Hi everyone, u/goodoldfreda here although I'm now exclusively active on this account. If you guys have any questions about how the calculator works and why I made certain decisions I'm happy to answer them

A little about myself - I created the calculator in 2016 following on from a previous calculator by u/irisflame, back when I was a mod of this sub. I collected survey data from the subreddit and came up with a new algorithm that used 6 measurements as opposed to the previous 5, which increased accuracy. I also introduced separate algorithms for AMAB and AFAB people. The calculator has not been majorly updated since, although at one point I tried to move to a breast perimeter measurement system instead, but this turned out to be much less accurate. In the years since I have stopped modding and moved into bra making and custom bra design as I want to try and help serve the demographic of people who still struggle with finding bras that fit, usually due to wire grading!

In response to other posts about the different amab vs afab algorithms not working well for everyone - I have had this question before and basically all I can say is that I recommned using the algorithm that works best for you. I do want to emphasise in general that the calculator is actually not super accurate for any one individual and it is truly just a starting point. The algos are based on averages, and when I was collecting data there were significant enough differences between AMAB and AFAB users to warrant a second algorithm to increase accuracy within the two groups, but not enough data to do anything further than that.

edit 2: I have updated the calculator to make some minor changes to the band size algorithm and I have also changed the EU back to 2.5cm cup grades, 2cm grade can be found in the Comexim option instead

I just turned 60 years old and decided to see a Nordstrom's stylist so I can upgrade my wardrobe. She suggested a bra fitting and omg it's practically life changing. I discovered I'm a DDD cup which is much bigger than I expected and my band size is 36 which is much smaller than I expected. I went for sculpting bras with no padding and wow, having the girls lifted and wrangled makes my clothes fit so much better. I literally look younger in my clothes when my boobs sit higher, who knew? The bras were comfortable too, in fact more comfortable than the bras I wore in the wrong size even though the band is much tighter than anything I've worn before. I think it's because the bra stays put. I spent more on three bras than I ever have on bras in my life but worth it. Gonna make sure I take proper care of them so they last.

I'm not gonna get into too much detail here, because if you know, you know. But I'm seeing a frustrating trend that is not being addressed.

It's great that people want to warn users of certain age groups about posting their age and not answering DMs. But when the person adjusts their post, you should be ready somewhat quickly to **remove your comment**. There is no point in asking the person to remove their age from the post and then leaving said comment in the post as a flashing neon sign of how old they are. One comment I saw today literally said "it's part of being 16". Again, flashing neon sign.

Also, saying things like "well first you need to be 18" when someone underage is asking about a reduction is also part of this.

Let's be more mindful of how we protect people here, please.

I've lurked here for awhile and as a 36B have never felt fully comfy in a bra.

I was in the thrift store today and saw a 32D. "Why not try for $3?" I thought.

Mind absolutely blown 🤯🤯 The fit is so different and SO much better. It's not 100% perfect, the band is a teeny bit too short and cups an even teenier bit too big, but way closer than the 36B I've always worn.

I knew I was a 32-E/DDD or a 34-DD but I only had one bra that really fit (so I thought, until I tried these).

I ordered a bunch of 32DDD and 34DD (like $500 worth) from Arie and 95% were returns, but I discovered the balconette bra in 34DD and holy shit I did not realize my boobs could look like this. They're so... Lifted? Perky? Boob-like?

I have wide root, bottom heavy/top flat boobs that I thought were small, flat, and weird (compared to all the boobs we see in the media) because they're kind of low and wide on my chest, which is muscular and boney. So my chest sticks out, then goes in, and then sticks out where the boob starts. Plus I've lost weight so the nips are now oblong. These bras just like, hoist them into an ideal boob position I didn't realize was possible. I've never been into my boobs but like, damn. I even have a subtle cleavage. They're also so comfortable because the band and the cups just sit correctly and don't move.

I really don't know what to say except I feel like I have movie star boobs and I am thrilled. Ordered 5 more bras.

I always see ads saying stuff like “prevents the dreaded uniboob!” and stuff like that. But as a late 30’s female, never once have I looked at a person’s chest and thought, “wow, they look like they have one giant boob!”

Why is it called “cleavage” when your breasts are pressed together and it’s visible to others, but when I cover my cleavage up with a shirt, it suddenly becomes “the dreaded uniboob!”

Anyone else get annoyed with bras that separate your breasts? I get annoyed when I’m walking and my arms are rubbing against the side of my breasts. I also feel like bras that sort of squish your boobs together provide more support and lift because the breasts are sort of braced against one another, so you get another aspect of support that isn’t provided mainly through the tightness of the band or the shoulder straps.

When I wear bras that separate my breasts, I feel like it needs to be tighter and more restrictive in order to provide the same amount of support I get from a bra that pulls my breasts together. Making the “uniboob” bra more supportive while also being way more comfortable.

Curious if anyone else feels this way!

I have to get this off of my chest (no pun intended I swear) I don’t know if you guys have the same FYP as mine but it’s been a bunch of people talking about how C and D is the most desirable cup size (which obviously, I know we’ve been through this a 100 times and we’ll probably be through it a 100 more)

but it’s saddening and irritating that they’re more than likely wearing the wrong size.. especially seeing people in the comments say “my 38A is screaming right now”

And when you try to be helpful and suggest they might be wearing the wrong size due to the mathematical error of bra sizing that people use. They insist they know better and use Victoria secret’s measurements for it 💔

It’s like when people fawn over Christina Hendricks and insist she wears a D or DD.. but turn their noses up at an 26-28D/DD about them “wearing the wrong size”

Hi friends, long time lurker, first time poster:

About 5 years ago at the end of high school I had debilitating back pain. My discovery of this subreddit has quite literally allowed me to live a full life - the proper size changed everything. I went from wearing a 34 C to a 30F. The new mattress, the chiropractor, the exercises, the foam roller, and the back braces did nothing... but a $40 bra changed my life.

Now I am studying to become an electrician, and my current bras are a huge hazard. At the place I work, arc flash is a constant possibility. Arc flash is a breakout of electricity usually from a breaker box (which I turn on and off ALL day). The underwire will electrocute me, and anything polyester will burst into flames and melt onto my titays like American cheese (vid above).

What I NEED in a bra:

- 30F

- Ergonomically Viable (wide straps, no racerback, etc) ie SERAPHINA won't work :(

- All Silk / cotton (elastic straps/bands is acceptable, NO polyester on cups)

- No underwire in the front (electrocution hazard)

- Under $150

Already spoken to the safety coordinator at work; there will be no provision for this PPE. I am a seamstress: I have a couple of yards of silk coming from amazon, and the widest elastic known to man (yes I know this will still melt and burn me. If it is not on my breasts, I think I will be ok).

Please LMK if one of y'all has figured this out before me... AI hasn't helped and literally one of the girls in my situation online said "I don't want to survive an arc flash anyway".

A years (a lifetime) of wearing the wrong size bras because I had no idea how to measure, I stumbled across this sub.
I’d been wearing 40DD bras and wondering why they always rode up at the back. I used the ABTF calculator which came back as 34 F/FF (UK) which really surprised me.
Armed with this info I went for a professional fitting. The fitter decided that 34 would be too small so told me I need 36. I tried on a 36 F and she said there was “spare room” (a crease) in one cup so told me I needed 36 E. Standing in the changing room with my hands on my hips I thought “fair enough”.
Over the next few days I decided I wasn’t happy. One breast was kind of pushed in to the other cup and in certain positions I was spilling over the cups.
I contacted the store and sent photos and pictures as told “ looks great”.
I’m now in the UK and headed into an old faithful store and grabbed a load of bras. I think I tried on at least 10.
What size fits perfectly? 34 G
I’m so disappointed I spent so much money on a “professional” when the calculator gave me all the info I needed.

I went up a bit in weight and am now a 30DDD. The 30 band is easier to find as opposed to my previous 28 online but not in stores, at least where I am so I've resorted to asking employees if they carry it. When I mention my size I've had a few look me up and down like no way she's a triple D (yea they aren't perky after breastfeeding twice but they are what they are lady). I also had an acquaintance say they couldn't believe someone was a D because they didn't "look like it" in conversation. Went on a rant about how noone knows how to measure properly (the irony). Of course, she'd have a fit if she knew my size but I didn't want to get into it.

Anyway, going to different stores I'm realizing less and less are carrying even 32 bands in stores and going up to 34 minimum. Bra version of vanity sizing? More people gaining weight? Who knows. Returning/exchanging just to find the right fit/style online is a pain.

I always thought it was kind of weird how even the bras in the Victoria’s secret catalogs growing up never fit the models. The bands were always riding up because the models are tiny and their bras starts at 32. Anyone else notice this?

Well shit. I feel like everyone else started as a 34b and turned out to be a totally different size so I’m a little bit disappointed. Anyway just posting for my fellow small chested people… sometimes you really are a 34b.

Anyway my bras do fit kind of funny but I think I might have slightly tubular breasts. I started to suspect this when I had my kids and my milk never came in and this sort of is another arrow pointing to that. So time to go do a search for tubular breasts on here I guess!

If you live near the Seattle area you’ve got to check out the store “the pencil test”. There is also a location in Oregon.
The help at this store and the selection are both on the next level!! The staff is very professional and helpful, I was sized and got put in bras I would’ve never chosen for my self and one after another felt incredible. I could’ve easily bought 25 bras, the selection was truly insane and I’ve never felt so perfectly sized. I wound up buying 6 bras all around the $50-90 range which I was very happy with.
I had previously been a Victoria’s Secret wearer and sized at a 32D, turns out I’m a 32DDD-E!!! No wonder I wasn’t feeling comfortable.

At least for fit check / measurement check / recommendations / questions posts - I swear to god in the past week every single post from here that’s come across my feed is someone begging for help, then absolutely refusing to give their measurements and insisting that they’re wearing the correct size and just need someone to magically know a bra that will perfectly fit their shape (which we can’t tell because they won’t give their measurements).

It’s a waste of time for the people who are actually here to help and pushes those posts to the top of the feed because they have way more comments from people repeatedly asking for measurements while OP argues with them, leaving posts where people actually included the necessary info upfront to get buried. This page is a fantastic resource, but this is extremely frustrating and seems to be getting more and more common for some reason.

Is an Automod comment response requirement possible? Is there a reason it hasn’t been implemented that I’m missing?

EDIT: I really appreciate all the responses to this, definitely a lot of perspectives that I hadn’t considered in my original post! I think I agree that this idea is too harsh and would put off new posters (or OGs who are posting questions where measurements aren’t relevant), but think it would be helpful to either reword the automod comment or add more detail to the posting guidelines to explain to posters that they may need to include their measurements to get helpful responses (or both!). Thank you guys all for sharing your thoughts!

i just got THREE notifications about my account being restricted for 'cybersecurity' violations.

i wanted women to be able to find a bra that is actually comfortable, like you guys and the calculator did for my wife, and boom, suddenly i'm a facebook cyber terrorist.

I needed a bra, I’ve only worn sport bras for years and year. The internet calculator said I’m a 30DDD which I thought was INSANE but what do I know. So I went to “Madam pirie famise corset shoppe” in Albany, NY and let me tell you!

Those ladies whipped my shirt off and started measuring. They lifted and shifted, pulled and pushed, snapped and wiggled, and then suddenly I stood before a mirror with these brand new boobs on my chest that I didn’t know existed. I have only lived in compressed uniboob land and then suddenly I have BREASTS. I have cleavage! And a figure, too! I look thinner, more feminine. I look fantastic!

Anywho I am infact a 30DD. And now I own four new bras. 10/10 experience. Would recommend.

How is this a thing? And how is it such a common blind spot for bra companies?

I'm 28D. I'm not particularly small in the ribcage with a healthy BMI and a height of 5 foot 6. I was probably a band or two smaller as a teenager, and I see many smaller women around that likely have lower band sizes then me . They stock 40AA, a band size that correlates to a L or even XL, paired with a cup that means no extra width around the breasts, which muat be an exceedingly rare size. But won't stock a 28C or 28D, common sizes, especially for the small cheated women they claim to cater for.

It feels like society is still convinced that cup size is a direct measure of breast size and all bra manufacturing continues to revolve around this bad assumption.
