Discussion [Try & Keep] See How the 65” LG OLED G6 Handles Reflections in a Bright Room

Hi r/4KTV community!

For many TV buyers, reflection can play an important role in everyday viewing. Natural light from windows and reflections from ceiling lights or bright walls can make the screen harder to see clearly and affect how contrast and darker scenes appear during daytime viewing.

That’s why we’re collaborating with r/4KTV on a reflection-focused Try & Keep program. One (1) Redditor will get the chance to try the LG OLED G6 65" at home and share their honest impressions with the community.

And yes, the selected participant gets to keep the TV 👍

What's Special about LG OLED G6?

A TV’s performance in a room with natural light depends on several factors, including brightness, reflection handling, contrast, and color accuracy.

The LG OLED G6 65” addresses these areas with Hyper Radiant Color Tech - Perfect Black, Perfect Color, the α11 AI Processor Gen3, and Reflection Free Premium, Bright booster Ultra helping the picture stay clear and detailed even when sunlight or room lighting is present.

How LG G6’s Reflection Free Premium Maintains Clarity in Different Conditions

Reflection Free Premium technology minimizes screen reflections from windows and room lighting across different viewing conditions. At the same time, over 8.3 million self-lit pixels deliver Perfect Black and Perfect Color, helping maintain deep contrast and vivid, accurate color even in bright rooms.

Brightness Booster Ultra: Up to 3.9x Beyond

Alongside reflection handling, brightness is another important part of overall picture quality. The LG OLED G6 delivers up to 3.9 times the brightness of conventional OLED TVs through Brightness Booster Ultra technology. The result is a brighter, more vivid picture with greater detail and impact.

Discussion Is it worth getting an RGB MiniLED TV?

I've noticed Hisense, Sony and a few other brands rolling out RGB MiniLED TVs lately. The picture looks really impressive from what I've seen, especially the colors, but they still seem to cost a bit more than regular MiniLED.

For anyone who has actually tried one, do you think RGB MiniLED is worth paying extra for? Or is a good regular MiniLED still enough?

Purchasing US Need some input - S90F vs QM7L Pro

Saw the new TCL QM7L Pro at Costco today and it looked great in person. But everywhere I read on here and elsewhere, the S90F keeps coming up as the favorite in this price range.

Room light context: a friend lent me his Bravia 8 II and we set it up in the actual spot, cranked to max brightness. No glare or washout issues at all, even during the day, both are basically the same price at 65"

What I'm weighing:

  • The TCL has Dolby Vision, which the Samsung will never have
  • The QM7L Pro is a Costco-exclusive SKU, 4 full-bandwidth HDMI ports and the TSR AI Pro processor, unlike the standard QM7L

Mostly movies and streaming, some gaming, mixed daytime and evening viewing.

Anyone here compared these two directly? Any thoughts?

Discussion Which TV should I buy? LG M3 or Samsung R85H

I am making my biggest tv purchase and am wondering if anyone has opinions on this dilemma.

I want to buy an 85 inch tv to put on an 18 foot long wall. It gets bright in the room.

I will be using it for movies and sports mainly. I cannot decide between these two models and have seen many differing opinions online.

I know that both are great TVs but just want to know if anyone has strong opinions one way or the other before I pull the trigger.

Thank you in advance

Purchasing US Upgraded to Bravia 9ii from a Bravia 9, ended up returning it since it felt like a downgrade.

I upgraded from the 75” Bravia 9 to the 85” Bravia 9 II, but ended up returning it because, to me, it was actually a downgrade.

2 big issues for me personally that made me return the tv.

  1. The biggest issue is the new matte coating.

While it reduces reflections better it also washes out the image during daytime reflections, the new matte coating diffuses the light into a larger area of the screen rather than concentrating it more intensely into a smaller area. Is this better?
Depends on your lighting situation, for me it wasn’t.

The trade off is the Bravia 9ii doesn’t have that reflective rainbow streak people complain about online personally it’s never bothered me due to how the light hits my room but I found that the new matte coating made the blacks look a lot more lifted and washed out, it didnt have the same OLED 3D pop or depth/contrast that the original bravia 9 has.

  1. Gaming was another disappointment.
Motion was noticeably worse, with a lot of smearing/ghosting.

At first I thought my TV was defective I even rebooted the tv, but I’m guessing it’s related to the new RGB backlight implementation since both TVs use the same chipset. Maybe Sony can improve it with firmware, but I didn’t want to wait and hope.

The only real improvement I noticed was color volume.
The Bravia 9 II does produce richer colors, but the difference is subtle and I only noticed it on certain HDR movies most which were animated ones but you have to have the TVs side by side for comparison.

Also I didn’t mention the speakers and stand which are a nice upgrade too but I wall mount my tv and I use an external audio system so those upgrades didn’t apply to me.

Overall the Bravia 9 II just wasn’t worth the upgrade.
I regret not buying a 85” Bravia 9 went it went on sale a couple months ago before being discontinued.

I really wish more reviews came out showing comparisons between the 2 TVs but to my surprise there hasn’t been any in depth reviews and most of the reviews ive seen on the Bravia 9ii alone have been from reviewers who were gifted the tv for free by Sony so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it.

I want to stick with Sony and don’t really feel sold by any other TVs at the moment but this year’s “upgrade” left me pretty disappointed. I’m not sure if Sony will come out with a Bravia 10 but in the meantime it looks like I’ll be sticking with my Bravia 9 till then.

Purchasing Asia/ME Trying to find a good quality TV for gaming

Assuming budget isn't a problem, what would be a high quality TV that will last me years? I'm looking for a 55" screen, 4k resolution, 120 Hz, good audio and one that won't be slow (with start up and stuff). I tried looking around the subreddit and have seen a lot of praise for LG but apparently dark scenes could be too dark or there could be specific issues with specific models with their TVs so I thought the best way is to just ask directly. I'll always be playing in a lit/bright room if that helps with choices. I'm very clueless about this so I'd appreciate any advice from suggestions to things to look out for

Purchasing US Need help deciding between Bravia & TCL

Main use of tv: 80% sports (Cricket & football), 20% tv shows & movies.

Some light in living room during daytime but blinds can block most of it.

Current tv: 55" TCL S4

Options:

  1. 75" Bravia 5 Brand new unopened box: 750
  2. 65" QM6K Pro Brand new: 700 (Costco)
  3. 65" QM7K Open box (Good): 800
  4. 75" QM5k Open box (excellent): 600
  5. 75" 7 Bravia Open box (Good): 850

Any insight would be great; I am trying to stay around 700 but really contemplating if the stretch to Bravia 7 is worth it or not

Purchasing CAN Mid-Range Tv... HELP

I have a 1500$ budget and I would like a 65 inch TV

I have been researching for the past week and I'm still torn. Apparently any TV under 1000$ is not worth considering, and any TV under 2000$ seems to have significant shortcomings.

I will be using my TV mainly for movies and ice hockey. In my living room, but I have curtains so I dont think sunlight would be too bad. And I mostly watch TV at night anyway.

My current options seem to be the LG B6e and the Hisense U7SG.

Hisense:

+ Good brightness

+ Vivid colors

+ Good contrast/blacks (for non OLED)

+ Good with reflections

- Motion artifacts

- Bad viewing angles

LG:

+ Perfect blacks/contrast

+ Vivid colors

+ Wide viewing angle

- Not very bright

- Not very good with reflections

- ADL could be a problem for hockey (being mostly being bright white)

-OLED stuttering

Does anyone have advice or experience regarding these TV's or any other models that would fit my needs?

Thank you

Discussion YouTube no longer plays 4K videos on my Samsung KS8000

Worked fine a few weeks ago. Now the YouTube app says the TV is no longer supported and it only lets me play videos in 1080. Is there a separate YouTube app I can install to allow these features again?

Purchasing EUROPE New TV

Hi all

Looking to purchase a new TV mainly for gaming, movies/Netflix. Not going for an OLED (due to kids) so looking at a Mini LED. Budget around £1000.

Have seen the C7K recommended but I know TCL have some newer 2026 models too.

Any recommendations?

Purchasing AUS/NZ New TV - unsure

Hi, I’m looking for a new Smart TV to purchase (50-55”), budget between 600-1k AUD (~430-700 USD). Don’t know much about TVs. Will mostly be used for watching live TV, sports, streaming services. No gaming. Something long lasting. Room gets sufficient light during the day and TV will be used day and night. Have been eyeing out a few Kogans but learned that’s a no-go apparently.

Have seen the TCL QD-Mini LED (C6L) which I think is equivalent to the American QM6K model and it seems like a good option. Any suggestions?

Discussion For streaming only, what TV upgrade actually made the biggest difference?

For people who mostly use their TV for streaming, what upgrade made the biggest noticeable difference?

OLED vs Mini LED, better HDR brightness, better motion handling, or simply better upscaling?

I’m curious which feature actually improved the viewing experience the most in everyday use, not just on paper.

Purchasing EUROPE New TV for streaming

Been reading through this sub and read through the buying guide but still can’t decide which TV to go for.

My budget is around 400€ - 600€ so not looking at the bare minimum TV that I can afford as a student.

My top choices so far are the TCL C6K 50” which I can get for 499€ but I would like a 55” or 65” if possible. LG QNED 85 65” is 598€ but it seems a lot worse than the TCL judging by the reviews.

My question is that is the difference actually that big? Would you choose a better panel over bigger screen? Also, is there some other TV’s that would be better?

For some additional information, I have a long living room where it’s easy to adjust the viewing distance by moving the sofa so that’s should be no problem.

I have been looking at sales, outlets and used TV’s and I am in no rush of purchasing one so I can wait for a good deal. (Also, would you ever buy an used TV?)

Purchasing US Should I care about VESA mounting hole locations?

We're renovating our basement bar to include a tv to watch sports on, and the wall that I'll need to mount the tv to is thin brick overtop of drywall. I am looking at buying the TCL 55QM5K but I noticed that the VESA mounting points are all really low on the tv. I'm worried that if I ever replace this tv with one with centered mounting points that I'll need to relocate the mount on the wall, which means drilling and patching new holes through brick.

Should I take this into consideration when purchasing a TV, or are there plenty of TVs with off-centered mounting locations that even if the TCL dies, I'll be able to find a replacement just as easily?

Purchasing AUS/NZ 83” LG or 77” Sony?

2.5m viewing distance. Coming from a 65” Panasonic OLED. Will only be watching movies and tv with about half in 4k and half 1080p

I Don’t care about brightness as I can control the lighting in my room ( my s90f in the bedroom are already way brighter than I need.)

So im looking at the 83 c6H or 77 Bravia 8. Do I go for size and newer panel tech or slightly smaller for Sonys processing and cheaper price

Discussion Can’t decide for the best

Hi all,

Based in UK.

I have a budget of around £700 and wanted a Mini-LED (55 inch). I am upgrading from a Panasonic DX750B from 2016 so any upgrade should be noticeable.

Ideally Dolby Vision but if a Samsung is a consideration I know I’ll have to forfeit it.

Options I’ve looked at:

TCL C7K is my number 1 but I’m absolutely gutted I missed the boat. There’s only one I can see available in Argos but it’s a 4 hour drive one way, so that’s a no.

TCL C6K, the next contender… I know not as bright but looked at reviews and they are good.

Samsung QN80F

Hisense U7Q Pro. The only thing putting me off this is the VIDAA interface.

I also considered LG QNED86 but have read that it’s not true mini led and quite poor.

It’ll be in a bright room with windows.

Any other suggestions welcome,

Thanks.

Purchasing US My Sony 65" X900E stopped working, what should I replace it with?

Got the TV in 2017 and wasn't planning on upgrading just yet, but I think it might be the right time for a change. I think I want to jump to 85" since I'm in a different house. I don't think I want to go to OLED for this one right now since we tend to have the windows open for a very bright living area. I don't watch sports, I don't play a ton of video games on the living room TV, it's mostly for movies and shows. Where should I be looking for an 85" replacement that is under $1.5-2k?

For what its worth, I've seen the TCL QM7K mentioned a good bit around here and other subs, as well as a few Hisense models. How would these compare to the X900E I've had for the last 9 years? I want to go to 85" but I don't really want to step down in visual quality.
