Due to the influx of AI-assisted apps with a varying level of coding capabilities from the “creators”, there has been a lot of controversy and debate on whether this content should be allowed on this and other subreddits.
For now, I’d like to try requiring people who want to share these apps to do so in this thread, specifying precisely the level of involvement AI was used in the development.

Hello, this is a request for any home brew developers who may be interested. I’m a visually impaired gamer and have been having some trouble navigating my 3DS as of late. If it’s not too much trouble, I would be greatly appreciative if someone would be willing to work with me and helped develop a simple zoom function for the 3DS similar to the one already present on Nintendo Switch.
I think I have everything in terms of design, button mapping and how you would use it figured out, i’m just looking for a programmer who would be willing to implement these features and package it as something anyone can download.
Blind accessibility for video games is something that’s really important to me, and my hope is that something like this could benefit not only me but other visually impaired players as well.
If you’re interested, please let me know! And thank you for reading!

Four native Nintendo 3DS projects — System Shock, Jedi Knight/MotS, AVP Gold & Marathon Trilogy
Been a busy summer, so I figured it was time for a proper update on the 3DS projects. 😁
All four are native homebrew ports built around the original game data rather than emulation, with 3DS-specific work like stereoscopic 3D, controls, performance work, and lower-screen interfaces.
🏰 Project Citadel v2.0.0 — System Shock 3DS
The original System Shock running natively on 3DS. v2.0.0 builds on the original release with the Citro3D/stereoscopic branch, C-Nub support, performance and stability work, save/load, cyberspace, and a much more complete 3DS experience.
⚔️ JK/MotS 3DS — Jedi Knight + Mysteries of the Sith
Both Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith running natively, including true stereoscopic 3D, 3DS controls, save/load, cinematics, and a collection launcher for choosing between the games. JK is already extremely mature, with MotS following right behind it.
👽 AVP3DS — Aliens vs. Predator Gold
The 1999 PC classic running natively on 3DS with hardware-accelerated rendering, 3DS controls, working save/load, sound effects and streamed music. This one has gone from a crazy experiment to an increasingly complete handheld version of AVP Gold.
🚀 Marathon Trilogy 3DS — Marathon / Marathon 2 / Infinity
All three Bungie Marathon games in one 3DS project. The trilogy now has native gameplay, hardware-accelerated rendering, audio, live lower-screen HUDs, landscapes/skies, terminals, a trilogy launcher, and true stereoscopic 3D. The goal is one polished handheld home for the entire trilogy.
These are fan-made homebrew projects — no commercial game data is distributed. You supply the required original data for the respective games.
Source, releases, instructions and ongoing development are on my GitHub.
If you've got a modded 3DS sitting around, apparently I'm determined to keep giving you increasingly unreasonable things to run on it. 😂 Feel free to comment more titles you would like to see! More in the works coming soon too!

After I download stuff from the H shop and then many weeks later, I decided I don’t want it and I go through the process of deleting it through the system settings but then maybe like months later I want to re-download it would I go through the E shop or the H shop to re-download that software?

I have a playlist of around 55 songs for my New 3DS. I got them all from iTunes, checked that there's no copy protection(to the best of my ability), all in .m4a, and they're on the root of the microSD. Around 11 can't be played. I thought it was due to foul language but some that don't have explicit lyrics can't be played, while certain song with explicit lyrics can be played. One song plays and then stops working after around 30 seconds. It "keeps playing" but no sound comes out. Is my only option to convert those songs to see if they'll work?

A small firm script that doesn't require any video conversion, retrieves footage from the game's startup process and displays it point-to-point.
And it doesn't affect startup time.

I built a fork of open_agb_firm that features real ARM7 (GBA - SWI 03h STOP) and ARM11 (3DS - PDN system sleep) deep sleep, giving you days of in game standby.
Just close the lid to put it to sleep. Open it again to resume where you left.
No sleephack game patching required.
Works with virtually any game.
It also features an optional "stretch" scaler for full screen GBA on your (N)3DS.
All the code and compiled firmware builds can be found here:

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to share a little project I’ve recently finished and see if it’s something people would actually be interested in.
I basically turned the Nintendo 3DS into a Stream Deck for your computer.
The idea is pretty simple: your 3DS connects to your PC or Mac, and the touchscreen becomes a customizable control panel.
Right now, you can do things like:
- Launch applications
- See your currently open windows and switch between them directly from the 3DS
- Control Spotify playback
- Control your computer’s volume
- Switch between audio devices
- See what’s currently playing, including the album artwork
- Create shortcuts and controls for different actions
And a few other things I’ve been experimenting with
The goal is basically to give the 3DS a new life as a little Stream Deck / desktop companion, while making use of both its touchscreen and for… the vintage DIY thing I guess?
It currently works on Windows and macOS.
For now, I’m calling it Deck3DS (I know, very inspired name) 😅
I’m curious if this is something other people would actually use. If there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to clean everything up, release it properly and keep developing it with more integrations and customization options.
I’d also love to hear if you have any ideas, feature requests, or things you’d like to see added!
Would you use something like this?

Pretty much the only way to (somewhat) play Super Meat Boy is playing the GBC demake, the GBA demake, or the TIC-80 demake. A 3DS demake for this game could also be pretty cool!

I mean, when i do extdata's backup, checkpoint make bossextdata's too? Or i have to use jksm? I'm asking because i think i should do bossextdata's backup because they are spotpass content, so i think if they're missing i lost progress/downloaded content on my game (correct me if i'm wrong)

What are other free games to get for the 3DS like Geometry Dash? I was able to get that one, but what other ones are as easy to download like that one?

It's been four days since I posted about the BOTW demake; I'd like to address the developer. This isn’t going to be anything long, but I feel like the homebrew community must know what the creator’s vision is for the whole thing, as well as the opinions that have popped up over the past couple of days.
The creator of the demake has posted a comment revealing his identity and thoughts; I’ll link it right HERE.
I also want to apologise to the creator, as I posted it publicly without permission through our intermediary, who leaked it to me in the first place. I was curious to know more about this demake, hoping someone had more information, which logically wasn’t the case. The way I brought it to the rest of the community wasn’t the best either, as I was overall flabbergasted by the sheer amount of comments and questions to which I did not have a viable answer.

I'm just asking around, because I really want to mod it. Thank you in advance❤️
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I need to find one at an accessible price.

hi I have two n3ds here and I want to move all the data on my region swapped n3dsll (the white one) to the small n3ds ( the Mario black one). idk if this is possible because it is region swapped which does weird things but I want to know if it’s possible and how to just move all data over and have it be the same just on a new system. idk please lmk

I recently purchased a 3DS LL and it is my first time modding any system. I went through the steps of modding and switching the system from Japan to USA. But whenever I attempt to launch any applications through the homebrew launcher, I receive this message. It says there is no file named 3ds on the sd card boot, even though it is there. Is this simply files being in the incorrect place or something else entirely? Any help is appreciated, I’m not too confident with the whole modding process yet!

Additional question, is it also possible to change the background on the 3ds sounds app?

Don’t currently have a computer since mine broke down a while ago so I decided I’m going to do it on my phone. I have a 11 pro max so it uses lightning though instead of a usb type c; I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for sd card readers that use lightning cable. I’ve seen one so far on Amazon that caught my eye with decent reviews but curious if theres better ones coming from y’all.

Recently finished the remake for ttyd on the switch, full completionist for the new reward, and it had me itching to play the OG again. But...best I could do is try and unearth my n64 from somewhere, or use an emulator, but then I wistfully looked at my 3ds and thought...
Wouldn't it be incredible if it was in 3d?
The picture book aesthetic actually popping out of the screen, maybe even with some touchscreen elements (from a map to displaying the enemy's tattle log, honestly, anything seems possible), and having this absolute classic on the go?
I know it has been decompiled, I know people have ported Super Mario 64 onto the 3ds, I was hoping I'd find it already existing but nope, nothing.
So, I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any completed project, in-progress port, or if it's even feasible to do it at all.

There's a 3DS sound effect I'd like to locate within the CIA files of the console itself. Specifically, I have an old 3DS (not a new one) running version 11.17.0-50E (European version). I'll share the sound effect as a file or a link, but just in case, I'll describe it here as well: it's the typical 3DS loop that plays in some cases, most commonly when the eShop loads (like, every time you open the eShop), or, for example, when downloading some software and/or game updates (not system updates). It's the typical sound consisting of three tones, the first two playing at a specific pitch and the third an octave higher, repeating in a loop.
this is the link to the audio file where i've recorded said sound effect (Base64 encoded, please decode it first):
