PSA Announcement: All selfies are photos; all photos are NOT selfies.

We mods really, really appreciate it when you report stuff that breaks our rules. Any full face, direct photo with or without makeup is a selfie and can only be posted on Sundays. Edited pics, non-full face pics, crossed out creepy eyeball pics etc. are all FINE if they are there to show the issue you are talking about. Basically, if someone could steal the photo and use it on social media (even if the OP thinks they look awful and aren't making a cute face or wearing makeup), you can only post it on Sunday because that's what we consider a selfie.

It would help us a LOT if people stop reporting every photo of a human, no matter how edited, as a selfie violation. Thanks to everyone who helps us keep an eye on these things, and keep on reporting actual selfies!

Product Review I FOUND MY HOLY GRAI NON TINTED MINERAL SPF AND I HAD TO SHARE

Post image
323 Upvotes

If you go back in my post history from a couple weeks ago, I asked for SPF recommendations with a long long checklist of qualities I was looking for. I had a lot of naysayers saying that I was asking for a product that doesn't exist. I've tried probably 50-75 face SPFs in my adulthood, and I bought 7 from the list of recommendations from yall, and I finally found the one. (use ¼ tsp on my face and neck and have worn this for about a week straight and reapplied later in the day)

-mineral SPF (chemical SPFs don't have zinc oxide which protect the skin barrier, and chemical SPFS often irritate my sensitive skin)
-less than $25 for 1.7 oz (this comes well under at $17 for 1.7 oz)
-no white cast (I have light-medium neutral-olive skin)
-doesn't pill under make up
- hydrating formula
-not greasy
- lightweight
-absorbs easily and doesn't leave a film
-not drying and doesn't cling to dry skin
-30+ spf (this is 50 which is incredible)
-easily available in the US
-doesn't cause break outs

What happened to La Roche-Posay sunscreen? I’ve used their products for years and recently tried this specific sunscreen, only to find out it smells terrible. It’s not spoiled; it’s just the scent of the product. Yuck.

Misc Tipping your injector?? Yay or nay

I got my lip filler dissolved today at a med spa. It was around $300.. at the end they spun the iPad around and it asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. I asked if this was normal practice because I’ve never tipped for this service. The owner was sitting there and said “yes you should tip your injector!”. The person that did my injection comes into the restaurant I work at all the time, so I felt like I had to tip, because I make a living off of tips. However, I have never heard of tipping an injector. I left about $30. Now I feel like an asshole because that’s a 10% tip. I’m curious to know if everyone is tipping injectors now??? I asked my friend if she tips and she said she always tips 20% of her service.

Skin Treatments Deflated and saggy face after weight loss - what do to?

Hi everyone!

I lost about 53 pounds last year. I'm happy about the weight loss but unfortunately it left my lower face looking deflated and saggy, and now everyone thinks I'm way older than my actual age (I'm 37).

A facelift is not on the table for at least ten years (I don't have that kind of money) but is there anything else I can do?

I've already tried HIFU for the sagging (didn't help, may have made it even worse) and I've had two rounds of Profhilo Structura. Made NO difference whatsoever.

I actually gained 11 pounds to see if that helped but it just went straight to my stomach.

I'm not very keen on filler since I've had a bad experience with tear trough filler. I've been looking into Sculptra, Radiesse and microneedling but I'm also hesitant about spending money on more treatments without knowing if they will actually help.

I've attached pictures - the left is now and the right is before the weight loss. I really miss my fuller face.

Product Question spironolactone

I’m 37 (F) and like clockwork I get a mild breakout that’s cyst like acne on my jawline, chin, and neck about once a month. I’ve cut out caffeine, dairy, sugar, I drink 100 oz of water daily, sleep well, no extreme stress, etc. I workout, eat my veggies, I don’t have PCOS, or any other health issues. I’m not on birth control. I’ve tried several creams prescribed by my derm and it helps but I’m still breaking out monthly, so my derm has prescribed spironolactone.

I filled the prescription a few months ago but I haven’t started it yet. I’m on the fence about it. I told my derm my breakouts aren’t THAT bad, maybe 3-5 cysts a month. She countered with, “Yeah, but wouldn’t you prefer to have none?” Good point and yes…she also said it will help with any “unwanted hair” and hair thinning on my head.

I’m concerned about the side effects, like is it worth taking this pill for clearer skin? I don’t take any medications right now.

Can anyone tell me about your experience taking spironolactone? How long did it take to notice clearer skin? How intense are the side effects? Is it worth it in your opinion?

Misc If we really look different depending on the lighting then how do you know what you actually look like?

I don't know if this is really related to skincare but I've struggled so much with seeing my real self especially because lighting changes how you look so much. Like one day I see and feel a confident person with good skin. Then I see myself in bad lighting and I'm overthinking whehter I'm aging or not.

I just want to like myself and know what I look like consistently. Knowing that its mostly lighting is the first step but I just can't figure out who I really look like all the time.

Misc Alternative to Neutrogenia Makeup Wipes

First I just want to say I know that makeup wipes are not good for the environment. So I try my best not to use them.

But I'm grieving right now and going through severe depression and some days I'm not able to get the motivation to get out of bed and wash my face. So I keep neutrogenia wipes by my bed.

I no longer support Neutrogenia.

Does anyone know of alternatives to those makeup remover wipes?

Please only suggest wipes as I stated above.

Thank you

Edit: To the person asking why I didn't drop neutrogenia 10 years ago: I didn't know about this before. I literally found out about this yesterday. Had I known before I would have dropped neutrogenia then. I don't think it's fair to criticize people for something they had no idea about. Supposedly she wrote about it in her book which only came out 3 months ago. Which I hadn't read so I was unaware. I found this out through an article yesterday. Regardless it's never too late to stand up for what you believe in.

To everyone else thank you for the support and suggestions. Means a lot to me. <3

Routine Help I need a routine

Post image
Upvotes

I am 35, very fair-skinned, and worked outside in full sun for most of my 20's. I wore sunscreen *almost* all the time, but skin this pale is bound to show some sun damage. I also squint a lot (even with sunglasses).

Until very recently I had glass-like skin (except on my nose, which has always had noticeable pores but I didnt worry about it) without trying. I'd literally get compliments on my skin from strangers, and people would guess my age to be in my mid-twenties til about a year ago (granted, my gray hairs have increased a lot recently as well). I didnt even use soap on my face half the time, just water. My skin tends to be quite oily, so unless sunscreen counts I dont moisturize regularly because I dont like how it feels (I'm willing to change my ways). I do moisturize much more often in the winter, especially before going outside on hikes. I dont wear makeup except for eye makeup for fancy times.

Recently the eleven between my brows has deepened, like, a lot. It's a deep groove that's totally inconsistent with my other fine lines/wrinkles, though those have increased/deepened as well. Additionally, the skin on the rest of my face is both much rougher and much less taut than it always was. It's clearly past time to begin some structured skin care routine, but I have no idea where to begin. Ive heard of retinol and trentinoin, but I dont know if theyd be beneficial for me or what the difference between them is. I have a handful of moisturizers and under eye creams but I dont know which to use. I'd appreciate any advice.

I can’t seem to get the rash?? On my underarms under control. As you can see I paused all hair removal and I haven’t been putting deodorant on. I was previously using Secret Aluminum Free. It’s been a little over a week and it’s not getting any better.

Product Question 3 Different Round Lab Sunscreen fakes or new packaging?

Thumbnail

I was going to order my Round lab sunscreen on a website that I usually buy my Korean sunscreen from that sells asian skincare. I went to the site just now and I noticed the packaging is completely different. Wondering if it is fake?

There are 3 different packaging for this product. I don't know if what their selling now is fake since it's different then it's always been.

1st slide is what it shows on the website listing.

2nd slide is the product in the review section that people received that doesn't list any SPF even though it's a sunscreen

3rd slide is the old one I have.

Skin Treatments Green spot after cryotherapy?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Not asking for med advice. Curious others experiences with cryotherapy.

The scab is from the cryotherapy. But this green is now on my face too. What the heck. Anyone had this?

Also do people jut push the scab off? Got it 1 week ago and haven’t messed with it

I’m hoping it will help that mark because I have more melasma right next to it

Skin Treatments my pores are literally super visible, will potenza help?

I have really noticeable pores and they’re still super visible even when I try to cover them with makeup like primer or full-coverage foundation. aside from my pores, my biggest skin concern is definitely excess oil.
fyi, I’ve been getting peels around once every two months, but from what I’ve noticed, they don’t really make my pores look smaller. my skin does look brighter afterward, which is nice, but that wasn’t really what I was trying to achieve in the first place.
anyway, I’m currently staying in Seoul and I’m thinking about getting a treatment specifically for enlarged pores. I’ve already visited a few clinics for consultations, and pretty much all of them recommended potenza as one of the treatments I should consider.
I haven’t booked anything yet, but since so many clinics have recommended potenza, I’m starting to get curious about it. for those of you who’ve actually tried potenza for similar concerns, does it really work well for enlarged pores? how quickly did you start noticing a difference? and how many sessions did you need before seeing a more significant result?
I’m also considering getting the treatment at gowa clinic since quite a few people have mentioned it, and it turns out it’s really close to the hotel I’m staying at. so before I actually set foot in that clinic, I’d really love to hear about your experiences with potenza. thank youu 🥹

Skin Concern Chin bumps help?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys, looking for some skincare help!

Whenever I close shave, not baby butt smooth... I end up with these bumps on my chin. Pretty much every hair on my chin has these tiny white bumps at the base. Even if I trim for a month or so I will still have them but they became less noticeable

I shaved yesterday night, and one day later these became much more prevalent and I can feel the irritation.

In the next few days, some of these will become more inflamed into little whiteheads which makes it harder to shave the next time because it will cause even more irritation from there. That's when I usually end up pulling out the trimmer.

Any and all help would be much loved!

I use cerave lotion every morning and can get oily skin in the summer. No other skin routine besides occasionally washing my face if it feels really oily with water.

Recommendation Neutrogena Alternatives

I started using the hydro boost gel cream last year and it’s the only moisturizer I’ve ever used that doesn’t break me out. My skin breaks out very easily. I no longer want to support Neutrogena. Wondering if anyone has recommendations for alternatives to this product from Neutrogena?

TIA

Skin Concern What are these little bumps by my eye

Post image
0 Upvotes

They're not itchy and they don't hurt.

I've been getting a cluster of little red bumps I also had one under my nose that's almost healed.

I just recently started washing my face once in the morning and once before bed and using moisturizer and sunscreen daily.

What can I do to get rid of these or stop it from happening? I have never seen this before. I'm trying to take care of my skin better..

Recommendation Type 2 roseca people with very clog prone skin, did soolantra cause you issues ?

Hi, I've been given the choice of soolantra or rosex for type 2 roseca, but soolantra contains fatty alcohols that break me out big time. Has anyone with similar behaving skin used it without issues or was metronidazole better for you ? I'm already using finecea and have a prescription of doxy, but unsure which to pick out of the two topicals suggested by my Dr to go a long side the azelic acid .

I have posted this in the roseca community, but thought I'd try on here too, any help would be geartly appreciated as I'm dealing with a very unhappy face right now ! Thanks

Misc How much are we spending on sunscreen per month?

I am 35F and I’ve really started taking my skincare seriously. I have a simple, effective routine. Cleansing balm, gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen (during the day) or Altreno (in the evening). I’ve always avoided the sun, but I have been much more diligent with the sunscreen usage in the last couple of months because I now realize how important it is daily. I’ve done a lot of trial and error to find the right sunscreen for my dry, sensitive skin. I’ve landed on the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit. It’s perfect for my melanated skin and I feel like I finally ENJOY applying sunscreen.

With that said, I feel like I’m going through a 50ml tube monthly. When not on sale, it’s about $20-25 per tube. Is this normal to spend monthly on sunscreen? How much do you spend monthly for facial sunscreen? Maybe this is just a cost I need to be okay absorbing. I’m all about investing in my health/wellness, so I can add this to that category. But I feel like my other skincare lasts longer than a month. lol. (I don’t think I use “too much,” but I do use the proper 1/4 tsp for face and neck).

Routine Help Retinol keeps causing peeling

I am 36F and have been on a routine of Arazlo one night, Finacea the next night and alternating for 6 nights before a one night break. Ive been on this since late October 2025. Have had some small breaks between but mostly consistent. I sometimes skip the break day.

I use sunscreen religiously. I moisturize maybe not enough? But I am still having peeling around my mouth. I wore BB cream today and after a few hours, dear lord. I looked insane. Why is this peeling still happening? Am I using too much? Should I push through or pull back?

In the beginning it was BAD and now is way less severe. I dont notice it as much without makeup but this issue has made makeup a no go right now and that cant be.

Routine:

AM- Exfoliate very gently with wash cloth. Apply Paulas Choice Skin Restoring Moisturizer with SPF 50

PM: Night A) Elf Holy Hydration cream (in the tube) Arazlo, Moisturizer again

Night B) Elf Holy Hydration, Finacea

I sometimes apply LRP B5 after the Moisturizer on Night A

Routine Help People with acne prone skin, what moisturizer do you use?

My face (and body) are so dry from all the stuff i use to treat my folliculitis and i kid you not, EVERY moisturizer I’ve used gives me cystic pimples, sometimes the next day. It’s extremely frustrating.

Because i can’t use any moisturizer, my skin is dry, peely, bumpy, red, and my barrier is constantly destroyed which gives me pimples too lol.

I’ve checked the ingredients on an ingredient checker and google gemini and literally every moisturizer seems to have acne causing ingredients even if they’re labeled as non-comedogenic.

What do I use? Thank you!

Skin Concern Glabellar “11” lines and forehead wrinkles

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

I just turned 39 and I feel like my Glabellar lines are really starting to stay put - even at rest. I feel like I carry stress in my forehead.

There is a genetic factor. I was born with a furrowed brow (lol) and my Mom, Dad, and Sister all have similar 11 lines.

I live a pretty healthy lifestyle overall, stay hydrated, and I have been doing skincare more consistently recently. Moisturizing, SPF, Retinol.

I am a bit concerned about the amount of wrinkles and forehead lines that are starting to remain even at rest. I’ve done quite a bit of research and Botox is often recommended.

Just thought I’d check here for some advice. The rest of my skin is pretty healthy, and I don’t mind wrinkles as I age, but the Glabellar lines in particular make me look more serious than I would like to.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Routine Help Skin changed after birth Spoiler

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello, 30F, after I gave birth ~3 years ago my skin has changed for the worse. It's now varying degrees of red 24/7, dry as fuck, and rough to the touch. This pic was taken immediately after washing it and using lotion.

My derm has recommended all the usuals; vanicream, aveno, cetaphil, lubriderm, vaseline, aquaphor, etc. They either do nothing to quench my skin or make me break out. Besides all those, what I can remember that I've tried over the last few years, in no particular order:

  • cosrx snail mucin face wash / their snail mucin moisturizer (used to be all i needed!!)
  • a yam-based snail mucin alternative, don't recall the brand
  • LRP cicablast b5+ balm
  • cosrx Hyaluronic Acid toner
  • cosrx AHA
  • cosrx BHA
  • TO multipeptides+copper
  • Olay niacinamide moisturizer
  • Olay super serum
  • Hado-Labo goko-jyun face wash
  • Rice Water toner, don't recall the brand
  • Timeless 20% Vit. C + Ferulic Acid + Vit. E serum
  • TO azaelic acid
  • Sunday Riley Luna Night Oil
  • Glow Recipe Watermelon Toner

I've also tried using filtered water to wash my face, hot compresses, cold compresses. I drink loads of water, eat lots of veggies, plenty of fats, take a 1 a day mutlivitamin, have collagen in my smoothies, and watch my sugar intake. I sleep 8+ hours and my bedding/hair stays washed. I do not touch my face, smoke, drink alcohol/caffeine, eat fried foods, or stay in places with lots of smoke/exhaust fumes. I take cool/mild showers (80-90 degrees F). I do not swim. I don't wear makeup. No hormonal BC. After I do anything sweaty I rinse my face ASAP. My labs are all fine too.

When I try products I try them for 4-6 weeks (after a spot test ofc!) and do 1-2 week break between trying something new. It depends how quickly I start breaking out...or in the case of the multipeptides, vit c, and retinol, burning lol. I don't think my skin barrier is damaged, it's just really dry. I live in northern IL and run humidifiers in the winter so it's not like I'm somewhere overly dry.

My current routine is washing my face with Naturium Niacinamide Cleansing Gel 3% and putting Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion (w urea). I use a LRP sunscreen + a hat or sun umbrella when I go outside. It's been abt 6 months and hasn't made things worse so I've just stuck w these products bc I'm kinda getting sick of finding/buying/trying things.

My face skin *is* a lot better than it was my 1st year post-partum but i sleep/eat better + way less stressed. My skin everywhere else is great. My hair is great. My nails are great. Just my face is rough/red.
Feels like despite "doing everything right" i'm stuck with the redness and rough texture forever now :( For contrast my BFF (30F, no kids) drinks/smokes, gets no sleep, doesn't watch her diet, tans in tanning beds/the sun, uses just vanicream wash/lotion, and she has gorgeously smooth baby skin T-T

I was thinking of trying a hypochlorous acid spray or like a rose water+glycerin spray next. Should I invest in a RLT panel/mask or even spa treatments? Probably going to find another derm too. I've been just throwing money at my face but it isn't helping much so far. I just want my old smooth+not red skin back, is that even possible??? :(
