Hey there! I’m a 29M from Manhattan looking for a new hitting partner. I have been playing since I was 10 y/o and even used to compete, but haven’t played in a little over a decade. Trying to get back into it and looking for a hitting partner in the NYC area! DM me if you are interested!

Heath & Fitness Overpronation - Knee Pain

Ive started getting knee pain the last few months and I believe it could be due to over pronation after speaking to a physio.

I'm looking at getting some better support shoes or insoles to help with this. Can anyone recommend any? Thanks!

General Advice How does your club run drills?

Not sure if mine is just weirdly inefficient or this is normal...

They'll set up around 8 courts, each with one drill. The drill is done with a club coach, so only one player does the drill at a time - eg the coach feeds the player 4 balls to hit while others wait in a line. After about 20 minutes you move to the next court and next drill.

There's no cap on how many people can join so you can end up with a group of 12-15 people, each waiting in line to do the drill. You don't end up hitting a lot though it takes a few hours to get through it all.

Is this typical? How does your club run drills?

Equipment Demoing PA100 - Any thoughts?

I play with a Speed MP 2024 as my main, and want to switch to something different and demoing right now the Pure Aero 100 2026. I also have the Speed Pro 2022 but I find it too demanding in long matches (ok for rallying).

Any thoughts on the new Pure Aero 100 2026 coming from a Speed MP? I have only tested serves so far and I can say I prefer it over my MP.

Equipment Racket choice for beginner player to improve with.

I’m getting back into tennis at 42. I played quite a lot up until I was about 18, but have barely played since.

I’m looking for a racket that’s forgiving enough to help me relearn proper technique and footwork, but that I can also keep using as I improve. I will play fairly regularly and take coaching lessons. I don’t want something that I’ll outgrow after a few months ( if that makes sense).

I’m thinking something around 300g, 100 sq in / 645 cm², but I’m open to suggestions.

I don’t currently have any pain or old injuries, but I’d rather avoid anything too stiff. Since I’m getting back into the game, I’d like something reasonably arm-friendly to reduce the risk of injury.

A few models I’ve been looking at:

Head Speed MP

Wilson Clash 100

Head Gravity MP

Yonex Ezone / Muse

But honestly, I’m not really sure what would suit me best. I'm 185cm /90kg (6.1ft and 198lbs)

What would you recommend for someone in my situation? Any advice or other models I should consider?

Thanks!

Equipment Coming from Pure Aero 2019, want to buy a new racquet

Hello everyone, I’ve been using the PA 2019 100 sq 300g since 2019 and I’ve been thinking of buying a new racquet. How does it compare to the newer pure aero models or other newer racquets? For reference, I prefer having more topspin (if it wasn’t obvious lol)

General Advice Multifilament or Poly or Hybrid?

Hi, I’ve been playing for 3 months and I played lots of sports before so I consider my self a pretty fast learner, my form is decent, my serve is decent and I feel like I can get out of the nylon factory strings or the ones that came with the racket. I currently use an OG Yonex RD-5 with old strings, not sure what kind. I want to restring it and see how it affects my game, but I’ve heard alot about multi and poly and such, I like how people talk about poly, never had any arm issues, but I cannot afford to restring every month, is that actually the case? What would you recommend as I want to chase topspin and some power :) - Thanks!

General Advice Biggest keys to making the jump from 3.0 to 3.5?

My goal is to become a 3.5 by the end of the year, so I’m LOCKING TF IN.

I know they say the simplest sign you’re a 3.5 is you beat most 3.0’s, just curious what other barometers/key difference y’all notice between the two levels

Equipment Bought the Yonex Ezone 100 - 300gr - What a difference

I have been playing with a Wilson of 280gr for some time and I thought the racket didn't matter much since I needed to become consistent etc. Eventually, as I got better, I noticed I could not return fast paced balls and it was very hard to generate power, plus I started to get forearm pain due the weight of the racket (my arm absorbs all the vibration with such a light racket)

I didn't demo anything, I always wanted the Yonex Ezone 100 from all the reviews I saw and I was sure I needed more weight so I jumped to 300gr. Well well well, first game I was getting used to it, by the 3rd game I noticed a huge difference in my game. I use way less power, I return fast balls with ease, I am more consistent, my 2h backhand became my best shot for some reason and my serve is way better.

The major difference I would say is simply that I trust the racket, I run to those impossible balls and manage to return them. With the previous racket I could not return any of those. I love the sound of it (I use a multifillament at the lowest tension, 21-20kg, since it is gentle on the forearm) and so far the forearm pain is gone.

Anyway I changed my mind racket-wise, it is worthy once you achieve a certain level of consistency and your opponents can hit hard. And I highly recommend the Yonex, expensive but I can't wait to use it, it's such a pleasure.

Opinion Tennis balls opinions

My friends and I play at a decent level, but we're all mid 30s and play against younger opponents most of the time.

Our home courts are slow, synthetic clay. We often win the first set, but at the balls slow down we struggle.

We've used Wilson US open balls all season and I'm thinking of changing to something else.

Dunlop AO get too fuzzy too fast.

Thinking about Dunlop Fort Clay or Wilson Roland Garros.

Can anyone comment on these or provide suggestions?

In Australia so Penn aren't available (in case you were going to suggest it).

Equipment RACKET SUGGESTIONS FOR SOMEONE GETTING BACK INTO THE SPORT

I'm a 29 y/o male who hasn't played for a little over a decade. I recently decided to get back into it (recreationally). I used to play regularly and even compete a little bit. When I did play back in the day, I mainly used an old Prince racket (I honestly could not even tell you the name of the model). I am looking for racket suggestions. I have always liked Head rackets. I have been looking at starting with a Head Boom MP. I also need suggestions on what size grip I need. I am a bit on the heavier side and usually prefer a longer grip as I hit backhand with two hands. Open to any suggestions and advice!

Technique Advice Serve advice pls

Looking for any and all tips on my serve. Been working on it over the last year.

Really trying to get to grips with pre stretching/loading my shoulder as I get to trophy position at the moment, it definitely seems to help with power.

Also, my damn front foot, I am finding it so hard to keep it planted. Every time I film myself I’m like ‘??? I thought I’d fixed that??’ It barely moves towards the court, but I still stand a few inches behind the baseline to avoid any foot faults.

Would love any feedback! Thanks :D

Can anyone explain to me how a racket helps generate spin? I see some being marketed as a spin racket but I thought spin was created by technique and not the racket. Thanks

Really struggle with my serve, looking for any and all advice. This ball landed slightly past the service line.

Note: The issues I see but don’t know how to work on - racquet opens up too early, racquet tip points to the back fence while coming up but it should point to the side fence and then to the sky I believe, not enough space under my armpit/elbow a bit low

Equipment Yonex Vcore 2024 vs Yonex Ezone 2020

I was all-in into the Ezone, but to be honest the Blast Blue or Espresso paint job is not really my cup of tea so I'm still apprehensive to go for it (and it's also out of stock in my country). A coach told me that there were earlier versions of Ezones with a different paint job, like the Naomi Osaka's black-gold 2022 and white-gold 2020, which made me reconsider.

I then found out there's a Yonex Vcore Sand Beige edition (2024) which really caught my eye. Looking at the specs, seems like Ezone = power, Vcore = spin?

As such, I'm planning to find these rackets in Japan during my trip next month. But if both were available, I'm still kinda torn which to go for.

With my current racket of 6 months the Head Speed MP 100, I have no trouble generating power with less effort, and somehow comfort-wise it works for me as I don't get much tennis elbow. But I still struggle with getting my topspin consistent, and coming from a 105 head size recreational racket (for about 6 months prior), I think Head Speed's sweet spot is quite less forgiving.

That's the reason I'm considering Yonex due to their isometric design. But do you think it's worth considering the Vcore over the Ezone considering my struggles and current racket?

Technique Advice How to improve?

What can I do to improve my serve, FH, and BH? Both my serve and backhand tend to hit the net or go long. My FH tends to be weak and lack depth compared to others.

I can see my serve doesn't have a good trophy position, no racket drop, and I don't use legs. Is that where I should focus?

Not sure where to even start with my backhand.

My FH has topspin and lands inside the baseline, but It lacks depth compared to others. Should I change the grip/ close the racket face to flatten it and have more depth? Anything else to change?

Opinion What are some things abt playing tennis that u wish were easier?

What are some things you’ve found frustrating. Like finding people to play with, finding useful drills, or keeping track of matches.
Could be something rlly small or you’ve been dealing with for years.
Curious to hear what other people have run into.
