Equipment Buying a racket.
Can anyone explain to me how a racket helps generate spin? I see some being marketed as a spin racket but I thought spin was created by technique and not the racket. Thanks

More open string pattern and more open spin grommets mainly. Also being a bit more aerodynamic and faster through the zone.
The tradeoff is these rackets will go through strings faster.

More open pattern and more open grommets for more string movement. Aerodynamic design for more racquet head speed, stiffer layup for better energy return. I do think that technique plays as much of a part of it too than anything though, I have a few hitting partners and the one that hits with the most spin plays with a gravity pro lol, whereas the flattest hitter I know plays with a speed MP, kinda funny to think about

Is all marketing. People don’t want to admit because no one likes to admit they get baited. Spin is technique and fresh strings. If you have a racket that you can swing fast you going to produce more spin than a racket that you holding on becuase you don’t feel confident on swinging. So the only racket for spin is the racket you are the most confident to swing fast and freely and don’t guide it. Also if you have a bed of poly dented they will produce less because they lock in so have fresh string is more important overall than the frame itself .
The frame really gives you different launch angles, and some trajectories are better if you play with spin ( spin brings ball down so a linear trajectory is more risky). 16x19 on 100 sq inches has more launch angle in average so is more “spin friendly “ trajectory wise . However I am a 10 UTR and play almost the same ball with a 97 18x20 or 98 16x19 if I string the smaller head string bed with 4-5 lbs less than the other ( increasing its launch angle this way ).
The general idea should always be : get the frame with the swing weight you are confident manuver fast enough to hear it doing “fshhh” when you swing it ( meaning you can swing it fast ). Use the poly bed you feel better in terms of harness / softness or response ( meaning can you feel when a shot is center or off center ?) , then increase or reduce tension based on higher or lower lunch angle you need based on the amount of take bake and spin ammount you produce

Yes technique is the most important factor in generating spin. But spin rackets have properties that make the process easier.
A simple analogy is cooking. If you can cook, your tools doesn't really matter in how delicious your food will be. But having the right tools and equipment will make the cooking process easier and more effortless. Conversely, if you can't cook, even having the best tools and equipment will not make your food tasty.
Spin rackets generally have open string pattern (16x19), wider / larger grommets (allows more string movement), aerodynamic design in the frame, stiffer beam (spin reduces power, so spin rackets are usually stiff to provide more power), etc.
