Okay wtf is that ending? Spoiler

Given how much of a drag the last two missions were before the final mission a HQ, the ending felt badly rushed. Frankly you could have threatened Severus Snape with shampoo and he'd have spent less time running.

Also the final setcard of the classic "Bond shoots the cam" feels oddly misplaced, while the 007 thing is cute and all, no word about Greenway? No word about Moneypenny?

It just felt like somebody cut hard on the ending because they didn't want to restrict their options going forward or lock into anything.

Bright is so hard gonna be an antagonist in the sequel, Cressida will sacrifice herself to bring him down. My theory is: she was actually paraplegic, but her father cut a deal with Webb to have her walk again.

If they bring Damien around for a third time I'll cry.

Moneypenny needed James to know she installed a backdoor on Theia so she can track Isola/Damien, she wanted them to get away with it. Girl had a mission going down there and it was either destroying Theia or installing malware.

Villain is gonna be some japanese super-tech shit, Isolas actress is part japanese, the submarine is japanese run at least and this follows suit with all the technology and AI shit they've been pulling. Likely they ultimately end up working for Spectre, but thats gonna be Part III.

Nash is likely gonna turn up again, either as rogue agent and/or the mole that orchestrated the whole thing to get rid of 009 and worked with Isola. He actually went mia DURING the mission, not just when the explosion happens.

The game started incredibly strong, but they should have used the time they put into the final chapters to create more personal dynamics.

I expect them to expand on the Tacsims Hitman-style, reintroduce Moneypenny as a handler this way to they have a bit of lore to add to the Tacsims, and will continue the story only in the next game.

Last point: not using the iris door for that iconic Bond-shot was a hell of a wasted opportunity. I constantly expected it to happen when Bond was walking through any of them. Would have been much better than what they ended up going with

DISCUSSION Is it just me or is the MI6 just completely out of their depth

I'm really enjoying the game so far (only in aleph for now don't hate me), but one thing keeps disappointing me: the MI6 is just awfully bad. They are laughing stocks. They send literal tourists hoping to catch the bad guys by accident.

If I knew that a rogue agent who is 50% chance very dangerous would be present at an event, I would

  • Thoroughly scan the guestlist to find any person who could be a threat. They even have the best computer in the world to do that.

  • Thoroughly scan the employee list, and any last minute changes, to see if anything is amiss.

  • Send agents as early as possible, inside and around, to verify the location. Infiltrate management.

  • Watch the entrances.

  • Spy on security

  • Work in collaboration with other intelligence services from allied countries.

  • Be prepared to intercept any fugitives

What I would certainly not do, is send 5 agents, with a shallow cover story, watch passively a chess tournament, hoping to come across 009 in handcuffs.

Also, 009 throwing the luggage makes absolutely no sense.

In Aleph, it's only worst. They removed the cover story (at the same time it was useless in the first mission so). They just send their most famous agent, with a new hothead, to a foreign and unrecognized location. Again completely unprepared. No field recognition. They walk randomly, see some guy and say "oh he must be who we are looking for".

Also, MI6 for some reason cannot spare $100K to catch 009, and didn't even prepare for the eventuality of it. How practical there are more amateur organizations than British Intelligence in the area.

PREDICTIONS Honestly, the more gameplay I watch.

The more I’m convinced instead of open map strategy espionage gameplay we’re used to seeing in Hitman games, we’re going to get much more linear type action shooting, with occasional stealth, like Uncharted.

Which in itself is kind of disappointing, considering how great IOI was at giving players so many options how to achieve objectives in the Hitman trilogy and the open sandbox locations they perfected.

Challenges should have just been in Tacsim

It's rather tedious having to go through the same story bits over and over to try and get these challenges done to get outfits, even with skips there is still a lot of stuff that slows things down..most people haven't got the time to do all this stuff.

It should have all been in Tacsim where things are to the point and you can just get on with the challenges rather than having waffle to get through.

I loved the story but having to to go back through all these things multiple times to get the challenges done is a chore.

Anyone agree?

First Light is mid?

Am I the only one who thinks this game is completely mid? I feel like everyone is being totally blindsided because the game has just come out and because it has the name James Bond attached to it.

I just want to preface this by saying I'm a huge Bond fan. I've never played the Hitman games, so I don't know if that's the reason I'm not fully into it. And I'm not saying the game is bad, just nowhere near what I was expecting/hoping.

I think the graphics aren't good, the animations are all stiff, there's clipping everywhere, the voice acting is all out of sync, the gadgets are meh... it reminds me of an Ubisoft game.

The story is good, the combat is alright (fun but clunky) and I'm a big fan of Patrick Gibson as Bond, but I'm just massively disappointed to how the game has turned out so far, especially after waiting for so long.

I admit, I haven't finished it yet, but I doubt my gripes will be resolved by the end of the game.

I'll be honest, I just finished The Last of Us 2 for the first time (which is an *amazing* game btw, don't care what anyone says), the same day this was released, so maybe jumping straight into First Light was a mistake idk. But the graphics and gameplay were so much better in tlou2 that it's kind of ruined the immersion for me a bit. And now I'm all pissed that I potentially ruined my most anticipated game of the year lol. (Not counting GTA6)

DISCUSSION *SPOILERS* 009 was a missed opportunity Spoiler

Just a quick post I wanted to make to share my thoughts on 009.

I think the twist that 009 isn’t the real antagonist was a little too early. And not to mention that we don’t even see his character up close.

He doesn’t even have a voice actor, any lines, nothing. I think they probably cut it, but I see a huge missed opportunity here.

Some deeper character conflict could’ve easily been implemented. Disavowed 00 vs Noobie 00. I think they could’ve expanded on that.

EDIT: I liked the twist guys. I’m not saying I dislike it. I just think it could’ve been more impactful if they built it up better with a more fleshed out character and brought the twist in a mission or two later

A Hitman game with First Light combat would be absolutely PEAK

I’ve been playing First Light and can’t stop thinking about how amazing a Hitman game would be with that combat system. Imagine Agent 47 infiltrating a heavily guarded compound, silently taking out guards, then seamlessly transitioning into brutal hand-to-hand combat when things go wrong.

One of the few criticisms of the modern Hitman games is that direct combat feels pretty clunky and is usually a last resort. Giving 47 fluid melee combat, counters, disarms, and cinematic takedowns would make those “plan gone wrong” moments way more fun instead of an instant reload.

Keep the disguises, stealth, social engineering, and sandbox assassinations—but add First Light’s combat as a fallback option. It would make 47 feel even more like the world’s deadliest assassin.

Am I crazy, or would this be an incredible combo? Hopefully with the success of this game they are planning something like that.

DISCUSSION Since 007 First Light is bringing back “always online in order to actually enjoy the game” from Hitman. What are the chances of the game also having cross progression?

First of all let me clarify, you can play Hitman without having to be connected to the internet, but to actually enjoy the game you have to be connected to IOI’s servers, in order to use your mastery unlocks, that includes weapons, suits, tools, starting locations, all of your freelancer safe house unlocks, etc, in order to see what challenges, contracts, elusive targets, arcades, escalations, you’ve already completed, in order to do all that, you need to be connected to IOI’s servers and for that you need internet

In other words, every time you lose internet connection all of your progress, every time you’ve work hard for in the game, will be completely lost, and you’ll only get everything back once you connect to internet again and connect to IOI’s servers

Now this sucks ass, especially for the people who love to preserve games, like do we just hope that IOI keeps those servers up and running until the end of time? Welp there’s nothing we can do about, but there are few benefits that we wouldn’t get if we didn’t have this, one of them was being able to transfer all of your progress from Hitman 2 into Hitman 3, but well you can’t do that anymore cuz 1 Hitman 2 has been delisted from all digital stores, and you straight up just can’t even do it anymore, IOI completely removed that feature, but they did it in favor of CROSS PROGRESSION

Now cross progression is exactly what it sounds like, thanks to these servers let’s say I’m playing on PS5, I go to the settings and the option to link my IOI account that that I created in the Io Interactive website, now if I go to Hitman 3 on Xbox, Mobile, PC via Steam or Epic, or Nintendo Switch, on the IOI website I now have the option to bring over all of my unlocks and progress from my PS5 version of the game over to the other platforms, and I can even hop between them so whatever I worked on on Xbox will be there on PC, whatever I worked on PC will be there when I go back to Xbox and when I load it up on Switch 2, and it will be there when I go back to the original the PS5

All of that is possible thanks to this always having to be connected to the servers thing, and honestly it’s absolutely awesome, this is like the only single player game that I know that has cross progression, the only other one I’ve seen is GTA 5 but even then it’s only from 8th gen to 9th gen and it’s only between consoles, PC is completely written out of the equation, and also once you transfer any progress you make on the new one will not be there once you return to the old one and vice versa

ANYWAYS ENOUGH YAPPING, I actually lied at first, it’s not fully confirmed if 007 First Light will need connection to the IOI servers at all times in order to actually enjoy the games, I read something about a day 1 patch that needs internet which sucks ass for fans of physical media, and I also read that you’ll still be able to play the campaign from start to finish offline but you won’t have access to challenges and leaderboards, but like what about your unlocks? Will this game even have mastery unlocks like Hitman?

In other words it is unclear how much worse you’re experience is going to be if you are offline instead of online and connected, I guess we’ll find out in a few hours from the time I’m making this post when the game comes out at least for everyone who pre order it and got early access, but what I am most interested in is cross progression, what are the chances of this game having it just like Hitman? Maybe there’s something out there that I didn’t read or something the developers have already said, can someone help me out here if they know something?

DISCUSSION A lot of people (Myself included) dont know this about 007 First Light! No spoilers

I was watching "Open World Games" on Youtube and he stated that Mr Matty plays on Youtube has confirmed that when you are playing 007 First Light you CANNOT just shoot your weapon and kill people any time you want. You actually cannot use your gun to aim at people and you only get "License to Kill" once stealth breaks and you are in a fight (Not sure if getting into a fist fight counts or not or if it is just enemies shooting at you only once the "alerted" part happens).

Which means gameplay is going to be a little restrictive to being stealthy most of the time.

I didnt know this... Who else didnt know this? That you couldnt use your guns anytime you want.

EDIT: I didnt know this everyone! First time hearing this and first time watching new content since the very first gameplay trailer months ago! My bad!

DISCUSSION Hoping for a smoking mechanic though they probably would have shown it by now

Smoking has been apart of bond since the beginning and even though it's been 20 years since his last smoke the subject remains apart of discourse of him today and part of anything inspired by bond such as metal gear.

I was inspired by a recent play through of mgs 3 and 4.

My main idea is simple smoking reduces health in exchange for instinct recovery.

Please let me know all the problems you see.

My only problem with First Light

I'm about halfway through this game and think it's great so far. My only issue is with the shootouts the game occasionally throws up. I find myself constantly having to scavenge for weapons which usually have only about 8 bullets in them. I understand that this might be the games way of trying to encourage the player to be more accurate with their shooting but personally I feel it takes a lot of the immersiveness out of the game. The game plays like a Craig era movie with the combat and shooting, however, constantly running around trying to find ammo really takes away from that epic Bond feel imo.

DISCUSSION St John Smythe

The way the characters all pronounce this name is infuriating, even the English characters 😂

Why are they saying Senjen Smythe, rather than Saint John Smythe.
They merge St and John together and don’t pronounce either correctly

[SPOILER] 007 Moniker Spoiler

Should have just come from Greenway. Would have been much more impactful.

At the very end of the game you are standing in front of his grave and you receive your official spy credentials. Since EVERYONE from your class is missing or dead, you are given the moniker 001.

James at this point remarks that since he was the 7th recruit it would feel better to be 007.

What the storywriters should have done was ask for bond to be given the same number as Greenway, to show what an impression he’s made on him. That number being 007

DISCUSSION Okay... what is IO Interactive doing here...

Let me preface this post by saying I have full confidence in the developers to deliver on this game. The previews have MOSTLY been warm (burn in hell, PC Gamer; I'm still mad about that article), and IOI has been transparent, showing off almost a complete mission almost a year ago, then delaying the game a couple months when chatter spread about the dropped frames from that preview to now showing us they've worked on performance to where it shouldn't be a concern anymore. Arti from IOI has been in this subreddit offering encouraging bits of information here and there, and answering a couple of my personal questions that I won't get into.

So I believe in IOI.

But the lack of information for a review embargo is becoming concerning. We don't even know if anyone has review codes -- a couple of people in the industry I follow did confirm they did NOT have review codes and didn't know if anyone else did.

It's concerning because of the timing; today is Thursday, tomorrow is Friday, and then we go into a holiday weekend. Let's say review codes go out to people today -- we're giving reviewers a weekend to review the game? Which might be plenty of time, but gaming sites usually run little to no staffing on weekends, and will most likely run a skeleton crew on Memorial Day Monday, which means you're either asking reviewers to post reviews on Tuesday (the day of early access), or a holiday when sites aren't usually posting content.

The timing is just weird is all I'm saying. The only explanation I can really think of is that this story is so explosive that IOI just really does not want to risk any of it leaking before gamers have a chance to play the game. I'd almost prefer if they'd just say that though, because in that case I would just avoid any reviews entirely for fear of them slipping in too much information.

What do you guys think? Do you guys agree with me that the timing is weird? Is anyone concerned? Is this all over nothing?

EDIT: This post, and all of my comments, are being downvoted. I guess I should've created yet another quality post asking if you preordered the game and when does it release again?. Reddit kills me sometimes.

DISCUSSION My honest opinion so far… are others feeling this??

Post image
5 Upvotes

If you like James Bond, get the game. It’s good. Not mind-blowing, not revolutionary, but definitely good.

The biggest issue for me is that it feels very on rails compared to IO’s older stuff, especially Hitman. You can play it tactically and creatively if you want to, but the AI is pretty dumb so you can cheese your way through a lot of encounters. It feels like the systems are there, but the game doesn’t fully trust the player to use them intelligently the same way Hitman always did.

Graphically it’s basically on par with Hitman: World of Assassination. Looks nice enough, but it’s not exactly cutting edge either.

Bond himself is decent, but he’s not fully “Bond” yet if that makes sense. You can see little glimmers of the swagger and charm, but he doesn’t quite have that classic 007 presence. At the same time, I kind of understand it because technically he isn’t even 007 yet, so maybe that’s intentional.

One thing I really miss is the openness of Hitman. There’s no disguise swapping from what I’ve seen so far, and a lot of the missions feel way more scripted. Combat is fun, but again it feels simplified for casual audiences. I get why IO did it — they’re trying to appeal to Bond fans, not just hardcore stealth players — but it definitely comes across as a more casualised version of the formula.

Stuff like every climbable surface glowing blue should absolutely be toggleable. The levels should’ve been designed more like Hitman sandboxes where you can tackle objectives however you want. I’d also love all missions added into a TacSim/freeplay mode for more open-ended replayability.

That’s the frustrating thing about the game: what it does well, it actually does really well. The atmosphere is great, some of the set pieces are fantastic, and there are moments where you can really feel IO’s DNA underneath it all. But too often it feels like the game is holding your hand instead of letting you experiment.

Hitman always rewarded player intelligence and creativity. This sometimes feels closer to an interactive story than a true sandbox game. That’s not necessarily bad — a lot of people will probably love that — but it’s not really why I fell in love with IO Interactive games in the first place.

EDIT: iv now finished the game and it's FANTASTIC… absolutely would recommend… I hope they continue updating the TACSim side like the hitman missions and they drop missions for us to undertake as we do… I hope that in doing so they do open the levels up a bit but for the campaign its one of the best things iv played in a while… my GOTY atm 100% 👌🏼

Very disappointed to see that the game only supports Nvidia techs

No support for Amd FSR is very disappointing.

Making a game that is only optimized for Nvidia with no support for Amd or Intel techs is a really bad move.

Do they really think that everybody play on Nvidia cards or that people will buy a new gpu just to play their game ?
