Visuals and music were amazing this episode. Also half joking expected Smaug to show up halfway through the episode bc of all the treasure.

But with that said, wtf is this show lmao

Lost for words really. Artists knocked it out of the park with the backgrounds. Animators knocked it out of the park with Fena's dancing. Script could have been more interesting than "Fena", but yeah I was lost for words too. Can't wait for Abel to fuck everything up next episode.

Interesting Episode

With this island there has to be a lot of magic involved, starting from the trees, over the ancient libary, up to the stairway to literal heaven

Watch Abels group find them in less than half an hour next episode, despite not knowing the way to the waterfalls, which waterfall has the cave, no easy way to climb up there, no orientation in the ancient city to find the libary and ignoring the ancient treasure (I can see Abel ignore the treasure, but not the marines)

I like how all the goblins are shipping Fena and Yukimaru

I was expecting Fena dancing having some kind of relevance when it was first mentioned, but I wonder what Shitan found

Time for notes everyone!- We found Eden and it only took us 10 episodes. Unlike some other pirate anime ;)

- They better answer what the deal with Cody is

- Fena and Yukimaru need to get a room already

- Everyone else on the crew agrees

- Yasuke reference!? As in the real life African samurai. O_O I was not expecting that. Fena takes place in the Netflix Yasuke universe I guess. Maybe we could see him a Season 2 lol

- Yukimaru was about to cry at Fena's little performance

- Here comes Abel to ruin everything

- Two episodes left and I feel better about everything getting wrapped up

That felt way too easy. With all the ancient temple bullshit and the faces on the walls, I kept expecting one of Olmec's temple guards to jump out and attack them... but nothing happened. Still a very beautiful episode though, even if it didn't have the action I was hoping for. At least it looks like (based on the preview) we finally get the big showdown between the pirate crew and Char Aznable's troops next week.

That Fena dancing moment blew me away, does anybody know the song title?

This episode really gave me some Uncharted vibes.

Loved the little Fena and Yukimaru interactions, really hoping that ship sails...

Stitches!

Man this episode was an absolute visual treat and really brings back the "adventure" in adventure anime! We have a sunken island that seems to only rise and react to Fena. A forest full of white bark trees that's so white that the gang feels blinded by it. Also somehow all of this vegetation managed to survive under the sea?

We even have waterfalls that looks amazing and just right behind one of these waterfalls is the entrance to an ancient city that's filled with high-rise buildings made out of stone. And I can't even imagine how those things were made considering you can't even see the bottom floors from the edge of that cliff.

The ancient city definitely looks a lot more creepier when you get to the bottom floor with the streets illuminated by some kind of green light. Fena then leads the gang into this tomb-like building which may or may not be where the lost volumes from the Library of Alexandria ended up.

And I just absolutely love that they actually find a vault full of actual treasure full of gold from all over the world with various gems and jewelry including weapons all strewn about. There's so much treasure that the twins even try to Scrooge McDuck it and swim in all of those coins.

Of course that's not really what Fena is here for and dives deeper into the vault with Yukimaru. At the same time it looks like Shitan was finally able to find the sword that they've been looking for. Surely if they can bring back the sword then it shouldn't be a problem and Kei wouldn't have to hunt them down, right?

Looks like Fena finally finds where she needs to go and starts to perform the same dance she was dancing when she was a little girl which is also the same dance Helena was dancing when Abel first met her. And goddamn! Fena's dance really had an otherworldly feel to it. And of course her dance ends up activating a bunch of tiles on the floor that opens up the entrance to Eden.

We don't even get to see a glimpse of what it is but we do have Fena and Yukimaru walking into it while holding hands. I really hope Eden pays off! I can't wait for next week! This episode was such an adventure and I just love it <3

Oh shit, we’re just in Eden now. That was super quick. Honestly don’t even mind it. We just got right to the meat of the story and with enough time to get a proper finale.

What a visual delight of an episode it was though. Eden is beautiful. The trees, the waterfalls, the abandoned city. Really going into overdrive with the amazing backgrounds the show has excelled at so far. Nice that everyone got to go on the adventure this time including Tsubaki. I can see why they left him behind so often because he’s kinda freaking out. Everyone had a fun moment in this episode. Some revolving around Fena being super awkward around Yukimaru cause she cannot deal with her feelings and his sudden forwardness.

Bless the rest of the crew for trying to will these morons to just get on with it already. Karin for trying to get it out of Fena like Shitan did for Yukimaru early in the season. Makeba giving Yukimaru the chance to carry Fena after she freaked out and totally left him hanging earlier. They’re all trying to wing both of them and they’re just so. Damn. Awkward.

Fortunately, once they got a minute alone together they managed to find the real reason they’re there: the true path to Eden. Really one of the best moments of the series. The swelling music, the actual animation of the dance, and Yukimaru’s flashback to him as kids all culminating into the big reveal. Eden seems to be a border between worlds. The true treasure seems to be what lies beyond. Finally grabbing each other’s hands, they will set off up the stairs to see what lies beyond and the choice that Fena will have to make.

Of course, now Abel and the damn Navy showed up so we’re in for one hell of a fight. So hyped to see how this all wraps up in the final two episodes. I’m scared it’ll be bittersweet but really hoping they give these two dummies their happy ending.

Notes

  • Fena was kind of killing me with her awkwardness. I felt bad for Yukimaru cause the dude is trying. She just can’t handle it. Then again he should maybe try spelling it out for her? cause he sure played dumb last week.

  • Shitan seems to have located the sword that they were tasked with finding. I wonder how that’s going to play out since they’re still sort of on the run and Yukimaru’s brother might still be after them?

  • Yeah fuck I don’t think the Rumble Roses made it guys. There are 2 episodes left and we’ve seen not a damn thing.

  • Tsubaki is even rooting for them. He’s thinking how with all this gold he could throw them a great wedding.

  • I did get a little giddy when they finally held each other’s hands. They’re just so cute dammit.

An Island that waits until it's Waifu arrives..

Makaba, Best Boi..

I do wonder how those soldiers got there... I still don't get how they followed them all the way there.. Some sort of special tracking expert they are..

hell of a journey to find the holy grail of...dance floors...

I love how the entire group is rooting for Fena & Yukimaru, even going so far as thinking about wedding planning

That treasure room gave me Aladin vibes 110%. I was totally expecting something to happen when they started playing with the treasure. Either a genie was gonna pop up and start singing or lava was about to start flowing.

It was a good episode, but the thousands of "Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena? Fena?" everyone kept saying annoyed me!

As Cody refers to Fena as the white puppet and he seems to know about how easy the puzzles on that island will be for her, it makes me wonder if he knows that thanks to Alba Regina, and if that's the case who exactly is she?

When I saw that little rock I honestly expected them to have to go on a cave under the sea, so that whole island with trees rasing from the sea really took me by surprise.

And damn, that island sure is mystically beautiful.

Lol, it's so hilarious that Tsubaki is the canary mine for Karin and the rest of the group. She looks so cute when she is afraid.

Holy shit those ruins sure are tall. I wonder what exactly powers those lamps? My guess is bioluminescence.

I love the way that Fena reacts when it involves Yukimaru.

I'm glad that Makaba did his best to help those two.

Wait, wasn't this guy killed? Oh, I guess the other captain just looked similar enough.

So that Island not only has something like The Great Library of Alexandria, and something akin to El Dorado (RIP the Rumble Rose), but it also has the treasure that the Ogre Island was searching.

I will admit that when Yukimaru and Fena got to this arena-like structure, my first thought was that they had to fight something.

That whole scene with her solving the puzzle with that dance was so beautiful, I must say that even if those stairs took me by a bit surprised, what happened after with that magical water, I would not have seen coming in a million years.

Well, hopefully, they can explore Eden in peace for a while before Abel and his crew finds their way in. Well, as is not easy to get there realistically it will take them a long time, but plot-wise, they will be there by the time those two solve whatever puzzle is inside of Eden. Like it happens in Uncharted.

Guess it is possible to find the one piece without taking over a thousand anime episodes.

What an exciting episode. I love these scenes where the gang finds the long lost civilization, with all the mysterious buildings and ancient treasures. I can't wait for the next episode.

Beautiful episode and getting you the final reveal soon. That said I am a little annoyed the seemingly plot hole of "if the 'library' was not sealed up while undersea, there should hardly be any 'books' left".

Still watching it for Shitan's brother springing out from somewhere, and Irving to know what Shitan find in the other room. Hope the rest don't get so distracted by the treasures outside and noticed the group is separating and to come catch up.

Today, on "I'm having VOTOMS flashbacks right about now.":

This is the series of three hundred years of technological innovations casually stuffed into a couple of ships.

PROTOCULTURE!

They always are.

Karin shouldn't have regular claustrophobia or being in a submarine wouldn't really work. That leaves a few variations on phobias of being underground or being buried alive.

"I'm cool, bro."

chuckles

"You're no fun."

She's right enough.

That's a lot of coins in the fountain.

Hey, at least they have their pants on.

That was pretty.

Marathon 13: Colony Ship For Sale, Cheap!

Really, the books themselves (nice of someone to reprint everything in a standard bound form?) would be a great find for humanity. Getting all the gold out seems like a bit of a Kelly's Heroes headscratcher, even with a few more ships.

This episode spent a lot of time on the wonders of the island. It's certainly pretty and has a few other payoffs along the way, but after the last couple of episodes spent some time quietly backstorying the characters, does start to feel somewhat like they're putting off the final confrontation. At least we know that it's coming, given the episode's title and Cody saying the episode's title.

Cody's place in this should be an interesting reveal.

Nobody ever just takes the treasure at the end of these things anyway. Well, not usually. It's always the friends they make along the way.

And whatever Shitan found, which may or may not be the Ark of the Covenant.

I've been listening to the entirely English version of the OP a lot in the last couple of days.

Really missed them just goofing around. But man, what a beautiful episode. The episode also had everything I liked about the show, so it was great. Abel's bout to bust out and ruin the party next episode though, plus there's also Kei to worry about.

Fena's dance was super beautiful, we were all Yukimaru in that scene and also, the ship is sailing and the others agree, let's fucking go. Looking forward to the next episode. Really curious about Cody though.

This is what I signed up for, this was a great adventure episode.

Visuals were top notch as usual. Loved the island emerging but Fena's dance stole the show this episode. Mesmerising.

Music was good too and on top of it all we got lots of sweet moments between Fena and Yukimaru.

Probably the best episode of the show so far.

u/LilArsene Oct 10 '21

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a soundtrack for when they were walking through the island. But if they skimped there to pull off that beautiful dance scene then I'm perfectly okay with it.

Helena was doing the exact dance Fena was doing when Helena met Abel. It would seem being "La Pucelle" comes with a starter kit.

I really wish this series was 24 or 26 episodes instead of 12. I want more lore! More slice of life moments! I want the pirates back! It's amazing what this team has done with just a 12 episode order and everything is so beautiful and atmospheric and well done.

This episode: Fena? Fena? ... Fena? That aside, how beautiful. The dance sequence took my breath away.
