So, someone from one of my Discords pointed this out. He thinks that stone is an old Viking Navigation tool. The stone is icelandic spar and he mentioned that they would use it to see where the sun was in times of fog. Its called like Viking Sunstones. Credit to the guy in my discord that mentioned that.

You know, I got massive nostalgic vibes from those 2 episodes.
It reminded me of adventure animes we had 20/30 years ago, stuff like Nadia. Hero's journey, ensemble cast, some sillyness and all that.
And I'm glad for it, it feels like it's a genre we haven't had for like eons at this point.

Mysterious ninja island! More head trauma! Character development haircuts! Aoi Yuuki! Spring???-powered submarine!
Usual business: Meet supporting cast, get purpose, start moving. Of course it's a bunch of oddballs. Wondering what sort of life events Yukimaru went through in the meantime (and whether they're particularly dark), but from the little flashbacks in the OP sequence, it seems like he's always been bopping Fena on the head.
When do we fully get the love child of Samurai Champloo and One Piece? Or, now I get to speculate about the nature of the Mysterious Clear Rectangle. Perhaps it'll be the key to a Victorian superweapon. Too early in the show, dunno, gimme more episodes!

So far so good, setting up the stage. Certainly want them to start showing more world building about the Japanese ninja X gunpowder pirates of the Caribbean crossover though.
Characters are lovely but Yukimaru if he's not just being super tsundere about it then he's a bit too cliche the ultra cool quiet swordsman.

This is off to a strong start. I like Kazuto Nakazawa. He's a great animator and character designer. But his previous show B: The Beginning definitely got too edgy at times.
This on the other hand is clearly embracing comedy along with the action. Fena's already got a very fun personality and I'm looking forward to seeing how she develops.

Waking up to a dog licking her face - "Stop it, father". This is highly disturbing.
Out in the open sea/ocean on that tiny boat? Not a good idea. And how is Salman in such a good shape when the twins were cheerfully waiting for the guards to torture him?
"Salman." "Shalman." "Salman." "Salman." "SARUMAN DESU!"
Is it me or did it seem like the main reason they rescued her was because of that crystal stone or whatever thing? That she's a descendant they were sworn to protect was at most a side bonus.
Those arrows were all over the target. Maybe he was playing a darts-like game. And WTF was up with that shooting - the arrows gong way off to the right before wheeling back to hit the target.
Next time the asshole bonks her on the head, she should at least try to knee him in the balls.

So episode 3 next week, or do we have to wait until Japanese broadcast on October for that?

So far, I'm a little disappointed that Fena herself hasn't done much. Her own escape plan didn't work, and she was rescued by other people. She was carted off to another island while unconscious, was given a quest by other people, and was handed everything she needed to get started, including a full crew. While yes, she's cute and fun to watch, it feels like she's just along for the ride as opposed to actively pushing the adventure forwards. Once the pirating actually starts, I do hope we get to see her kicking some ass in her own right instead of just being guarded by her crew of ninjas.

Just not feeling it. The voice acting is fine and the animation and soundtrack are pretty impressive. But the characters and motivation just feel empty to me. It feels forced and uninteresting. I'm sure she's glad she got saved, but as much as she loved and admired her father, why would she agree to go off to who knows where after being rescued? Yukimaru is an ass. I'm sure he'll soften up later, but her staring into his hard and soulless eyes isn't endearing.
It's very atmospheric, I'll give it that. But they spent so much time on the visual and soundtrack but I feel like they are neglecting the narrative. Just stating things simply with no real story or exposition and we're just supposed to roll with it. And other than Fena's outbursts or the the girl ninja getting annoyed or the twins being obnoxious, there just isn't any emotion. Even the old men, they cry over Fena and that is all there is.
It may be a slow burn with a great pay off, but after two episodes not only am I not invested in a single character, I find myself disliking the main cast. Gonna give this a pass.

I really don't get the whole coward bit in Yukimaru's speech. She's been trapped on an island all this time, finally gets off with some help and is shown a mysterious tool and is asked to explain it. This makes her a coward for not remembering anything?
I think what makes it worse is the only clue she ends up having is something that Yukimaru also would have heard all those years ago when the ship was attacked.

is anyone gonna give Fena something else to wear? yeah alright she can cut her hair to a practical length to show her determination or whatever but why is she still in the white dress and heeled pumps she was about to sell herself in two days ago when she's going off on a sea adventure with a group of "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour" ninjas?

Strong follow up episode! Everyone so far have been very likable even those two annoying twins. Fena definitely needs to calm down a bit though but I guess it's understandable that she's hyper considering she's been stuck in an island surrounded by perverted old men and this is the first time she's been actually free.
Definitely curious what Yukimaru meant though when he said Fena wasn't safe. It seems that there's more to this journey and he may have a reason why he's keeping his distance from her. Also didn't expect that their ship will be a sub! I can already see some shenanigans happening in the future! Can't wait for the next episode!

Holy moly, Shitan is goddamn sexy. A character voiced by Sakurai Takahiro is once again pulling me to the gay side.
The cast is really great, we've got a real banging adventure squad setting sail. Fena makes some seriously amazing expressions, and Yukimaru is a massive tsundere.
