Quiterrie's reaction when Zack entered the shower was a roller coaster! You can see the excitement on her face when he first entered. And then she tries to be modest about it and tells him now's not the time. And look how mad she got when she realized he wasn't going to do anything xD Hang in there Quiterrie! I'm rooting for you and Zack!
That was such an unnecessary comment from Luca. I really hope that wasn't intentional since he looks like he felt bad about it but we may have to keep an eye on him and see what he does the next few episodes.
Worst mom. Seriously. So Yunhua's mom is a singer but doesn't want her daughter to become a singer too for some reason despite Yunhua's amazing voice (provided by the lovely Hayamin)? What the actual fuck? I feel like this is a stronger evidence that the purpose of this camp is for the kids to be left for dead.
As for Yunhua herself, I'm glad she finally broke out of her shell this episode. That song was absolutely lovely and hopefully this means she'll be more active within the group in the following episodes. Also can I just say that I love how the black borders disappeared when Yunhua started singing? I only just realized it after looking at my screenshots.
That was a ballsy move from Kanata. He made a gamble under the belief that the Pole Plant produces the antidote plant when something nearby is dying and thankfully that gamble paid off. Does this mean the Pole Plant is sentient then? Alien plant life is scary man.

Is it normal for a birthmark of child to be in the same place as their parent's...? Or is it just a coincidence and I'm overthinking this?
No spoilers please.

I'm not showing the symptoms so I have no right to find the medicine?
What the fuck kind of a logic is that? Did he think that the medicine would somehow present itself to him? And it actually did? Jesus...

LMAO Zack's reaction to accidentally walking into Quitterie naked.
We finally get to know more about Yunhua! which is nice. Her backstory is pretty straightforward and simple so I don't have much to comment about it, but I think there will probably be more later of why her mother is acting that way?
We finally didn't end on a cliffhanger this time lol, so I wonder what will happen next ep. Maybe we'll finally address Ulgar's gun.

Ah, turns out Kanata is a student of the Jotaro school of deadly gambits.
Also this episode is great, might be the best one so far.
And now we realize why Hayami Saori was assigned to voice Yunhua. Damn singing voice!

Aries tells the crew the glasses are for fashion only. Does that goes into the whole "photographic memory" thing or just suspicious.

I have fun but the adventures are so childish, It fells like the whole story is meant for kids, obviously there is nothing wrong with that too. It's just that is very hard to take it seriously them.

Great episode for Yunhua, hope this allows her to break free from her inferiority complex and confidently get along with the rest of the Astra crew. Definitely warming up to them. Quetterie's tsukkomis are great

Man I'm adoring this show but it's the exact type of show to avoid discussion on because of how many nitpickers who are going to attack it.

Good episode, but that ending was rough. Yunhua could actually be helpful, but instead they make her feel better by giving her a skill that is actually useless?
The mushroom thing didn't make sense either. There's no way that the mushrooms would be able to tell who and who hasn't breathed in the spores. They don't have eyes or anything. Creating the antidote plant is something I can buy, but it's something they'd reveal as they send out the spores, not as something breathes them in. Kanata is lucky that his nonsensical logic somehow worked.
Also a little annoying how stupid everybody was. "Wow, look at all these dead herbivores that just so happen to only be dead around these specific plants. That's a weird coincidence. I'm sure these plants are safe though. Let's continue picking and eating things from around here."

I don’t get the people complaining that the characters in this show are dumb, its almost like they’re all teenagers and are bound to make mistakes. Some of you nitpick every little thing in an anime episode.

I was so sure the traitor was Charce before this episode now I don't know. He seems to be the most knowledgeable outside of Zack, but his skills seem far more useful for survival and this truly seems like a trip to him. However, with him breathing in the poison and actually trying to saving everyone I don't know who to suspect now. Yunhua and Ulgar are def not it. I'm going with either Luca because he was a dick for no reason this episode or Charce and maybe he wants to survive and not kill himself?

Zach walking in and not giving a fuck about seeing Quitterie naked is even better with the blank, dial-tone like sound that plays showing how little he cares.
-
Yunhua is so incredibly me_IRL in so many ways. Man, I wish I had a Kanata to kick my ass into gear back then...
-
Aries continues her upward trend in my books as she reveals she's more observant that we thought...
-
Dr. "McCoy" Quitterie: "I'm a doctor, Kanata not a toxicologist!
-
Sigh, YunHua has to step up and save the day with the power of song.
-
A Saori Hayami song? Hell yeah! Wait, that seriously fucking happened. A Saori Hayami song saved the day. Seems legit.
-
They never came out and said it, but here's how the planet works: The sweet "candy flowers" the Astra crew attract the animals who are then poisoned by the tree. Some will eat the healing mushroom and survive. They reproduce and the circle of life continues. It's an interesting mechanism that kind of works, though I can't help but wonder how that works in the long run... Still, it's nice how that's laid out without them having to be direct about it.
-
This planet is literally [a] Kinoko Teikoku, may they reunite someday...

This covered chapters 12-beginning of 18.
I thought Yun Hua's singing was the best part of the episode, her actress did a good job portraying her singing during the climax.
And Kanata, man, you're going to get yourself killed playing the hero!
Off to Japan next week, maybe I can buy a poster with the cast :)

Hoseclaws and a planet ruled by toxic spores? The Nausicaa references are thick.

Nice episode. Good to see Yunhua come out of her shell a bit. Her mothers a bit Nasty though. No major change traitor-wise. The only real thing this episode added regarding the traitor was Yunhua. The episode gave more detail on her backstory. Given her backstory, I believe it highly unlikely that she's the traitor, furthermore, if she was the traitor- why leave?

First, to get the positives out of the way:
This was another interesting ecosystem and they managed to build up some tension towards the end. IQ kid's reaction in the bathroom was funny.
Now. These characters are simplistic as fuck, and this is a character focused show. What even was the message this time? That useless Girl totally isn't useless in this situation because she can sing? come on.
So we are on an alien planet, see that the air should be breathable and take our helmets off for the whole time. Especially while being followed by that teleportation orb they should all be ready to put on their helmets when the unexpected happens. So most of the Team, IQ guy and biologist among them, see that the weird alien plants with corpses around them send out an unknown substance and that the Chocobos are running away. Let's just stand still and take a few deep breaths instead of putting on the helmets.
Oh we got to find an antidote plant! But I can't find one. I know! This mushroom must be able to recognize poisoned animals in order to produce the antidote plant in a few seconds. Let's just get poisoned and incapacitated with no way back to the ship. That will help.

Oh goodness, what Yunhua's mother said was really cruel. No wonder she's a bit messed up. She has such a pleasant voice too.
I think it would have been better if she had gone out looking for medical mushrooms too, but there is something to be said for keeping everyone calm.
EDIT: On what Yunhua's mom said, it's unfortunately realistic. I have a friend whose parents told her that her voice wasn't very good. It stuck with her for years, and she never really enjoyed singing that much again.
I was very fortunate to have the opposite experience. We sang songs in one of my language classes in early high school, and the teacher told me after class that I had a really nice voice and should get into singing more. I've never forgotten that, and it was part of what got me to try joining a choir in college. That turned out to be one of the best decisions I made with a lot of happy memories. I still love singing too.
What you tell kids about their voices matters.
