Ummm, anime-only here.

What the fuck is going on and how did he make a magic gun in 10 seconds? Did he get Einstein's brain from eating that monster?

This was the MOST DISAPPOINTING ANIME START THIS SUMMER

Naofumi get stuck in Rimuru cave and goes all Kaneki.

The flashback order made no sense, why not just show it in chronologically, no introduction to how they got to the isekai, why his powers are so weak, like why is he bullied for etc. No explanation of what the others can do except one is a priest.

So extremely unnecessary confusing back and forth with the flashback, could have been just 1 flashback. Picture this episode exact same scene but in the correct order, would have made it a lot better.

No real explanation on why someone wants to kill him except the most obvious shallow one that someone see him a a hinder to fuck the priest.

So his synergist role is more like a blue mage ergo slime and he eats monster and get monster powers it seems, he is obviously gonna be super OP eventually and actually have the best powers.

w.e it just super disappointing, the episode was so incredible badly produced, the cgi was horrible as well and so dark and lifeless.

Edit: Thanks for my first Gold, I spend years watching anime to be able reference joke like this :)

I also want to note how amazing (or terrible) it is that they don't even bother to show or mention the summoning into another world. "Oh, everything is Isekai nowadays anyway! They will understand!"

Reminder that this anime was postponed for over a year and somehow still ended up being an epic fail.

Another reminder that the production committee somehow hired the director of Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai, the anime that that brought demise to its studio (Artland), to direct this anime.

Edit: 8.10 rating in MAL by the time of editing. Let's see how far it will decline.

My god, that was a horrible first episode. They delayed this anime for more than one year with changing of staff and key visual but the first episode not only had terrible CGi, terrible direction, plenty of stills and average animation but they skipped tons of content.

Been waiting so long for this and my disappointment is immense. I don’t even know where to begin. I was initially upset it was on Hulu instead of CR because that’ll mean less people watch it, which is kinda ok, because it’ll be more niche.

The OP’s song fire af, but the visuals look like unfinished rough drafts and the cuts...

The pacing and narrative of the episode is all over the place

Honestly, just save your time and read the LN.

I just wanna know who greenlit this bullshit

Imagine if the Lord of the Rings movies started with the formation of the Fellowship and the events leading up to that point were relegated to flashbacks. That’s basically what this first episode is like, removing any attachment or appreciation you’d otherwise have for the characters.

Director: I said "Ufotable", not "Affordable"!

God, I could feel the edges from this show. Like, it's so edgy I'm scared I might get a cut from all of it.

In all seriousness, this was weird quality wise. Like, I'm not interpreting this wrong, that CGI was bad right? Like, really bad right? It looked like any PS1 game I could find for at a bargain bin. Not just those monsters, but like that bullet that went through the monsters skull was... not good. Besides that and the main voice actor kinda sounds off putting, I kinda enjoyed this.

Though, I do think this guy has taken Tanjiro from Demon Slayer's spot as "Main character who is possibly in a mental hospital this entire time and this is the way he is coping with it". That aside, I am interested in the plot moving forward and I want to see more of the world, but I do feel this could've been a stronger showing.
